Great gym. No frills. Very accommodating to us lifting there and not being members. Everything you need.
This is a no frills get to business type of gym. It's one of the most diverse in terms of clients I've ever been to. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is because whole the lockeroom is clean it can get musty especially in the summer.
I've been going to Powerhouse only because it's walking distance from my house. If I had another option within walking distance, I'd probably go there. Don't get me wrong, this gym isn't all bad but it definitely could use some sprucing up. The bathrooms/basement area always smell like sewage and flood somewhat frequently. The equipment is pretty old school, which some like, but it all could use a good cleaning. Cardio machines are dust-covered and almost all have their cupholders missing. The rec-room upstairs always has stuff everywhere and mats/balls are just in a heap on the side for you to dig through. The tile flooring in there separates and will pinch you. Another con, which they can't help, is the bus stop out front makes for some interesting interactions. People pee in the ally near the exit and homeless people hangout there. BUT, if you're looking for a classic gym that welcomes the big, beefy, grunting, bodybuilder type, this gym is great for that. People are serious about their work outs. If you can overlook the cosmetics of some of it, this gym is pretty cool.

Rude customer service reps would not allow my wife to use the restroom. How you treat a regular person has a lot to do with if I'm going to do business with you. Sorry powerhouse is over priced to start planet fitness has multiple locations for $25 a month. The homeless man who walked in after my wife just pissed on the plants outside.
This review is based on my attempt to tour the gym today. I walked into the gym and asked the front desk associate if I could have a tour. He asked, "of what?... and I said, "the facilities." I don't think my request was odd. When searching for a gym, I usually ask for a tour and an overview of what is available. The associate then showed me the main workout area, but didn't go over what makes the gym special, what promotions are available, use of the sauna... nothing. He even hesistated when I asked if I could see the locker rooms (this is important to me because I want to make sure the locker room has everything I would need to get ready for work after a morning workout). I would have gladly left my ID with the front desk if there was a concern that I was there for any questionable reason. I had high hopes of joining this gym based on the reviews claiming that staff are friendly and helpful, but I did not get that impression today. The associate didn't even ask if I had any questions (which I did), or try to guage what my fitness goals are. Unfortunately, my search for a gym continues. I just hope the owner sees this and has a talk with the front desk about how to be more welcoming and strive to gain new members.
First time here. Huge gym packed with more machines than anyone would need. People were friendly and staff was great. Will be coming back.

Lots of good equipment packed into a fairly small space. Had lots of posters and stuff with Arnold so that was pretty cool. Its downtown Columbus so parking could be an issue at times but this gym is definitely worth checking out

No parking. So you have to use a meter or pay for parking garage during the week on business hours.
Awesome gym! Cheap rates and excellent up front deals. Lots of equipment and never have to wait during a lift.

Fantastic gym! Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Inclusive environment for all fitness levels. Every crossfit toy you could want is located upstairs. If that's not your thing, there is tons of cardio machines on the same floor. Prices are extremely affordable and they have lots of "bring-a-friend" incentives. Five stars!

Best gym in town. Rates are cheap, and referrals go a long way. The gym isn't constantly packed with "bros", which is a huge win over some of the other gyms in town. They definitely have enough equipment to push even some of the best athletes.
Parking is almost never an issue. The staff is pretty great.

Never busy. Staff is very knowlegable as well as friendly. Old gym feeling with every piece of equipment that you can imagine. Free parking . Free classes. Also Arnold Schwarzenegger workouts there when he is in town. Enough for me

The weight facility is good as long as you don't need new weights. Personally if it's metal with a stamp on the side that says how much it is, then I'm good.
But they don't maintenance the weights well.
By that I mean the dumbbells all put together with bolts on the ends and the bolts often get loose and it doesn't appear any one tightens then regularly.
A bunch of the ellipticals incline function doesn't work properly, but they do have plenty of treadmills.
The girls have a sauna but the guys done and don't get your hopes up on other facilities.
No steam room and no pool.
The do have a spin room with spin classes.
All in all it's a gym with everything you need to lift and nothing else and is maintained poorly.
But it is just down the street.
They also make you sign a contract or pay more monthly.
The only good price point are group rates which are supposed to be for a family only.
Heck of a gym and is for a real workout. This isn't a fitness center but if you want a real workout check this gym out. Plus is set up in an old bank so it's really cool. No parking and somewhat expensive for a day pass but worth checking out once
Great people great atmosphere super friendly. Truly a great place to work, they had the great instructors and safe programming.
I love this gym! The owner and staff are so friendly and really take time out of working to know the members and get to know them. They have so many LOCAL amenities that I love seeing and buying to support small businesses. From the meal prep service, ran by the gym owner himself, to the freshest juices, ready made meals if you're in a pinch, to protein shakes, snacks and prework. Clothes and products, tanning and they are still adding and growing! I've been a member for 2 years and it's been nothing but continual growth and additions to make the gym even better! It's affordable and the weight room has so much to offer!
The gym is good enough for those folks looking for serious lifting and bodybuilding like me. Cool staff. Rarely super crowded, mostly a boys' gym. Somewhat, the old school gym feeling around. While, there are trainers around, this gym def works better for those with self-motivation. I might recommend only one trainer I know trains bodybuilders and I am seeing results on their clients. Lots of new equipment (which is great) but it has reduced the space to move around. My only suggestion to management is ...take care a lot better of the cleaning issues. Some areas could use really better daily cleaning/maintenance (upstairs, locker rooms, hallways, little better organization for plates). While I don't care too much (as most boys) about super neat locker rooms, really taking a shower there, is a task to think twice. A little smelly too. Otherwise, price is ok for offerings, again very basic but lots of iron. If you look yoga, fitness, dancing classes, etc and/or fancy facilities, you will be disappointed, then this gym is not for you. Good enough for me, close to work and cheap enough. I can live with the cons. Sad, longer hours did not work out. PD: remove that art downstairs. It does not belong to the gym environment.
