First time to go on the gym, and it was very hot for the weather, and the bathrooms are super clean for the gym 24 hour fitness at H street!
Listen. We live in one of the most populous cities in the U.S. Gyms are going to be crowded. If you find one that isn't then there has to be something seriously wrong with it.
The equipment and the locker rooms are almost all brand new. The members are pretty friendly and cool, even the roided up juiceheads. The staff is pretty chill except for the Asst. Mgr. Chris who has some maturity issues. The "power" has gone to his head. God forbid this kid ever becomes a cop.
The sole reason for the one star review is due to STINKY GUY who works out here every single day from like 8 am - 3 pm.
Everyone knows who Stinky Guy is. He's like 5'4" and in his 50s and has been wearing the same gym clothes for *literally* months. Literally.
You can smell this guy from ten feet away. If he's on the treadmill you need to be at least five treadmills away from him or you will throw up from his stench.
After he's done working out he will go into the locker room, take his stinky, sweaty gym clothes and DRY THEM UNDER THE HAND DRYER. If you happen to walk into the locker room while he's doing this, or in the immediate aftermath, WATCH OUT, because you will be walking into a wall of body odor.
It is disgusting and no human should have to endure this kind of torture when trying to exercise. So what to do?
I asked one of the trainers one day, "Has anyone ever complained about stinky guy?" I didn't describe him or anything. I just called him stinky guy and after a one-second pause the trainer goes, "Yes! But I don't know what to say to him!"
My wife encouraged me to write a letter to management so I don't have to confront Stinky Guy myself where things could get, um, uncivil. So I did. Management has ignored my letter while Stinky Guy continues to stink up the gym and the locker room for eight hours a day.
When Stinky Guy stops coming here, or if he improves his personal hygiene, I'll revise to five stars. In the meantime, you have been warned!!!
If there was an option to give 0 stars, I would. If you want to be at a gym where the staff do not genuinely care about the customers' concerns. Go here. If you want the staff to not listen to your concerns and respond to you weeks later, go here. This facility not only has machines that not perform perfectly (with major squeaky noises and weird balances), but the staff that have more "power" (e.g., general manager, fitness manager). They say that their interest is in the customer, but their actions say otherwise. I joined this club location and was bought into getting personal training (PT) for 10 weeks which costs $1400. This is obviously not cheap. Hence, I expected an amazing experience because 24 Hour Fitness is reputable and they talk so highly of their PT. My PT was late SEVERAL times to our sessions, and in those circumstances, I would just wait, but the general manager simply told me to just start stretching (on my own obviously). There were also many times when my PT would cut the 50 minute session MINUTES early. I paid a lot of money and it should be worth every penny, but as a customer, who would want to continue the PT with a trainer like this, especially under a manager who does not get the PT who is late right away, but instead tells the customer to just start warming up?! I decided I wanted to stop my sessions and get a refund for the sessions that I have not yet attended. I called the facility and was lied to that a refund was not possible and that I would have to talk to the Fitness manager to figure things out. Then, I resorted to the general customer service line, and was told that they cannot do refunds, but that I would have to call the club facility and ask for a refund directly and talk to the general manager. The general manager at this facility, for the lack of better words, is the worst and very unhelpful. First of all, he was never available, so I left forwarded messages for him to call me back. No response. I had to call every day to finally get in touch with him because he never responded to my messages. When I did get in touch with him, he was very unhelpful. The general manager, lied to me several times that a refund was not possible, when it clearly is. I can tell through my conversations with the general and fitness manager that they are very money driven and selfish and definitely are not customer-centered. Obviously, I cannot go into detail regarding my situation because that would take forever. Ultimately, I still have not gotten my money back (which I rightfully think I deserve because of the way I was treated during PT as a customer and how I have been lied to several times) and am left infuriated and highly unsatisfied as a patron of 24 Hour Fitness. By the way, I never even got a direct apology from my personal trainer for her actions. This location is very money-driven and does not put customers' and their interests first. I no longer even feel comfortable going to this gym anymore because I only see dollar signs in their eyes with their fake smiles. If you are not giving them money, they will not care about you.
Been my dole choice to stay in condition and workouts around the country since 1994...always clean, friendly and great equipment and facilities too!!!
Nice place. 24 Hours Fitness have a good reputation, but still there are many features I really consider when go the gym. There are two things they need to develop, 1st, parking spaces and 2nd the air circulation. There is a mortgage company own around half of the parking spots. Regarding the air circulation, this issue should be easy to fix due to the numbers of people attending the gym in the same time. Overall, nice place and customer service...
Costumer service could need some polishing, weights are starting to be updated and it is usually packed. Overall you can get a decent workout depending on the time you arrive to 24 hours.
I must say, this gym has had some serious upgrades since I last visited! Mostly all the equipment upstairs has been replaced with new/improved machines to include cardio equipment. Black squat rack and bars are now downstairs, which is a lot better due to less traffic. The staff has always been amazing there!

So if you don't make a commitment to either a 12 month contract membership or $124 prepaid monthy membership within 5 minutes of walking in (no tour offered just straight to a desk to sign up) they don't want you in. I walked in asked for a guest pass to checkout the spot and chris said it's only for people buying memberships. Now not to be a smart butt, it's hard to purchase anything without
A. A tour of your place
B. A day or two to consider such a commitment. (I was told the "special" was only good today since it's my first day walking in. I asked could I think about it a few days and get back. Was told nope...by Rick)
Maybe it was a sign when the Rick said "no need to put this guy in the system just over write the last guy" (I'm sure this is something they do often with an approach like that.) I mean come on step your game up give better service and you will get better customers and higher retention rates.
I wrote this hoping management above rick would read this and let rick the manager I spoke to today reconsidered this approach. Luckily 12 other 24 hours gyms in San Diego to consider I'm sure this is not how things are handled everywhere.
* The only reason this is two stars and not one was the sweet receptionist that was helpful and attentive when walking in.

Good gym. Busy during peak hours but still capable of getting your planned work in.
My husband scored and got a lifetime deal with them and we even get the free babysitting for our kids which is a knockout. Anyway love the gym and the staff very good
One of the nicest gyms I been too. Clean and great equipment.
Customer service sucks! I was going to join but they had me waiting for 45 mins. Totally unacceptable. The manager never even entertained me. Too busy! Not joining this gym any time or in the future! Going to anytime fitness! Update: anytime fitness is super awesome!

I just joined and so far so good. The only thing is the pool which is the main reason I joined. It's very narrow having only 3 lanes. We'll see how it goes. I'll give an update in the future.

Very disappointed. I wanted to buy something at 6:20am on Easter Sunday and the girl at the front desk just told me that she was just counting the drawer. I told her I would wait and she persisted to tell me that if I was her I wouldnt wait around because she takes her time counting the till. When she saw me put back the drink and walk away she smerkd. I am a store manager myself and if one of my employees did that to a member they would be the next person walking out. Just saying.
what a difference a year makes! Early at the start of the year this location went under a complete overhaul! New equipment, clean restrooms, men's locker maintained well !Thank you 24 Hour for the upgrade!!
First time at the gym it was awesome. New equipment, friendly workers. I'm so stoked on getting myself fit.
Updated equipment ,clean bathrooms and friendly staff
Recently remodeled to a horrible layout, and the new machines are garbage. They had somthing good before. Im super disappointed. The remodel is great said no one.....
Not the cleanest, but it's an older gym. I actually like most of the equipment and the layout was good. Takes too long to repair broken equipment. Bathroom and locker area usually not very clean... not enough soap dispensers! I actually stopped going to this gym because it's become way too overcrowded, even early in the morning when I prefer to workout. Not an option at all during peak hours... the place is just ridiculously busy after 3p.
They just got new equipment which is nice, but they changed the layout and distribution of it and it just doesn't work, it's very tight! Thinking about switching gyms....
The best yet. It has everything I need to get a good workout and relaxation
Gym is fine, it has bumper plates and Olympic lifting platforms but the staff is below knowledgeable. One of the group fitness ladies at 6am takes up the Olympic lifting area. When I started doing cleans and jerks she asked me to "slowly lower" the bumper plates to the floor. Apparently she has no idea the risk of injury with that movement. If you don't want bumper plates dropped then don't have the-that's the main purpose of having them. Otherwise the gym is good.
Its ok... Some cardio machines need maintenance and they didnt have towels available.
Lets start with the pros :
This is the only gym that is open 24 hours in the whole south bay area.
It has the right equipment a bunch of squat racks the most I seen in any gym. It kinda feels like an old school gym from the golden era. Huge basketball court and a small pool but still nice to have one.
Good parking garage and a convenient location, tons of fit girls here, seems like girls in this location don't play around which is nice.
Now the cons :
The equipment is in desperate need of upgrading, you can see the rust on many machines, some don't seem to work or move properly. Peak hour is insane it is just not possible to get your workout completed in an hour.
Its kind of small since its 2 floors and most of the stuff is on the second floor. It seems they don't really maintain it either, theres never paper towels and lockers alway smell bad. Only reason i gave it 4 stars is because is open day and night year round.
Always open, staff is very friendly and professional, always clean, and there's so much equipment. Oh and the sauna and steam room are great too!!
There is a lot of equipment, a variety of classes. Staff is friendly and helpful.
The equipment is kind of dated. 1 shared bathroom upstairs where everyone works out and locker rooms downstairs.
