I recently started going to this gym and was HEAVILY pressured in to getting a personal trainer. I was told that my knees were really weak and that it would be really difficult to achieve my goal without the help of a trainer. I instead went to a sports medicine doctor who told me that the exercises that they had me attempt to do were going to be really bad for my joints and I was given alternate workout routines from the doctor instead of LA Fitness' personal trainer. Other than the aggressive sales pitch, I've really enjoyed this gym.

Spacious gym with a good variety of equipment. Be aware of the time when going though because it gets very packed in the evening.

The place is very clean and well spread out! Everything I could look for in a gym is right here. Was helped by Rob who showed us around and gave great detail on the facility!

Very clean space with a good variety of equipment. Definitely got a good workout. All of the windows made the space a fun place to train.

Had a great experience. Rob was great and really helped me through the process of learning the facility and the membership options. 5/5 would recommend.

Nice equipment but the place is always packed. Hard to get a good workout in when every machine I want to use is always taken. Now the personal training room is gone and there's even less floor space upstairs. Probably gonna cancel my membership, this is getting old.

I would give this place a half a star or less if allowed. I work out there pretty much every day. It's stupidly over crowded especially during the week good luck getting a bench without sitting there for 30 mins. For there cardio equipment about 2% of them the TVs actually work. They like to go to Channel 3 bring up the volume and turn off instantly after hitting the power button. The equipment is extremely outdated and their machine are constantly breaking. Switching back to my old gym asap.

I called for a quick inquiry regarding their racquetball courts, they took my info saying someone will call me back. 3 days later I get a call back trying to get me to sign up, it was 8:35 pm. Scammers don't call that late. I told them i'm not interested, then 3 days later the same guy calls trying to get me to sign up.

It might be great from the inside, but just my interactions with them over the phone was disappointing.

Good gym but no one picks up after themselves and there's only one legit squat rack.

September 4, 2018 15:43

This gym is way too hot inside and they don't provide towels; feel free to do the math on how gross it is. The equipment isn't great and finding the weights you want to use (10-25 lbs) is next to impossible. I would recommend they redesign the space to make better use of it.

Great location but because of that if you go here from 5-7 PM on the weekdays this place is PACKED. I wish they would add more adjustable benches for the free weight area. Also could use another squat rack.

->Noelle is he best yoga instructor
This is a really nice LA fitness. Equipment is is in working order, and if something is broken it tends to get repaired in reasonable time, bathrooms clean, 2 squat racks, beautiful architecture. It is a modern gym with a track inside, which I have found to be a rarity. I love that they have a water bottle filler at the drinking fountain, too. Good variety of classes, nice staff, and there is a pool. Have not tried the sauna yet.
The one thing that would make me so happy, though, is if there was an assisted pull up machine. Also, it's often crowded after work /school times, but that can't be helped.

They oversold memberships by about 500 people. This is one of the largest LA Fitness', with one of the smallest training areas. There is a money grabbing "supplement" store that takes up about 25% of the gym. Remove this, and put an actual gym in its place. LA in Grove City and in Dublin are not even a 3rd of the size of this gym, yet has a larger free weight area and more benches? I have never had a good workout here. Constantly waiting on a bench or a machine.

Very large facility with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Clean and functional equipment with a family/casual vibe. Would recommend to anybody looking for a casual gym.

One of the worst gyms I've ever stepped in to. I was visiting a friend and needed a place to lift, unfortunately I stumbled in here wanting to redeem my guest pass. The guy in charge with what looked like a bird nest in his hair denied my pass and then said he would "hook me up" with a $15 guest pass. Are you serious? Absolutely awful experience. Save your time and money and go straight to powerhouse gym. Get the free parking pass and they will give you a day pass for under 10 dollars.

If I could give a 0 star, I would. The "personal training" area is off limits to paying customers? Come on.... I'm fine letting a personal trainer and client take over the equipment if they need it, but they kicked me out with no personal trainers or clients using the area. All the trainers were just sitting in their chairs on Facebook goofing around. What's the point of LA Fitness buying that special equipment and not letting anyone use it. Ridiculous. Every other LA fitness is on board with letting paying members use the "personal training" equipment if no trainer is using/needs it.

The best part of this gym is not technically owned by the gym - the snack area where you can get protein shakes and other supplements and meals. The manager of this area is great- he's so nice. The rest of the gym is dirty and the equipment is really old. When I go in the evening it's filled with arrogant millennials. I go because it's close to where I work. The best LA Fitness in Columbus is in Polaris.

Great experience at this location. I am a LA Fitness member from Maryland. This location is so much better than my one back home. Definitely recommend to others!

I workout at LA fitness in Woodhaven Michigan and this facility is ten times better love it a lot. Adam made my experience great if you need help go through him.

I am a trainer myself and I love this gym. Everyone is so welcoming and always so friendly. The employees truly care about their members and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. I recommend going to talk with Jay on the sales side for any questions or to sign up today!

I have been training in gyms for over 20 years and all over the country. The visual appeal of this gym is great as are most LA fitness centers. However, this gym is receiving a very poor rating primarily because it is the filthiest place I have ever seen. Being optimistic over the years and even sharing my concerns with the staff has yielded no change. Here at some pictures for which can't even capture what I see throughout the gym. The staff are kind and the gym has lots of energy so if you can overlook the filth, it is a decent place to train

It's a decent gym with decent equipment. But I've never had a good experience attempting to interact with the staff here. Not only that, don't plan to take advantage of your guest passes, because all that is is a way for the trainers to berate in an attempt to have you sign up for training and/or a membership. I don't go to LA Fitness any longer because of the people. Sure, you can get the job done there, but in my opinion there are FAR better options.

I love Giovanni. He doesn't pressure for me to get more services. He knows I'm happy with my membership. Every time we come inI, he treats us like family. Sometimes he will come over and talk to me while I'm waiting for my husband to come out of the shower. He is encouraging, conversational, friendly and fun. He is an added reason that we like going there. The equipment is great, and I love being around so many people who are trying to make themselves better.

While the facilities are nice and I'm sure the trainers are great, NEVER take a "free" session (like when you first become a member or if they say you're on the "winning machine" for the day). No matter how clear you are from the start they will try to pressure you into paying for personal training. When you state your intentions clearly and let them know you just can't afford it right not, they will continue to make you feel like you must just not be serious about your goals, since you're not willing to invest. They'll even attempt to help you look at where you put your money and suggest where you could cut back to afford this...but if I'm already trying to manage my money responsibly... wouldn't you think I do that already!

While I know having a personal trainer would help me reach my goals faster, I'm alright attaining them at a slower place, so don't make me feel like I'm not serious or that I don't care about my personal fitness just because I don't want to drop over $150 a month on personal training! Just trying to be responsible and frugal here! When I have the $, I will invest and seek out the training, until them... STOP PRESSURING ME!

I've been to two sessions and both times I left mad (an emotion I don't often experience). I understand that LA fitness is a business and that's part of what they do (you've got to push people to get customers), but I didn't feel respected, so unless you're good at taking this kind of treatment, DON'T GO unless you're ready to slide your card and sign up!

Although I love the gym and all of the options that are available as far as classes go, I have never been more pressured into getting something I don't want. When you sign up for your membership, do not take the "free" private lesson they give you because they will try and force you to sign up. I was very polite and explained that I do not have the ridiculous amount of money that they wanted to charge me but would reconsider once I get my commission checks. They would not take no for an answer and persisted that their director would talk to me about making sure this would be an option. The director was even more pushy and unprofessional than the kid who seemed like he had no idea how to respond to my answer. They compared me to a dog who didn't want to walk being dragged on a leash, very unacceptable. I still continued to say, if I decided to get a personal trainer I would call and let them know but they gave up, took my piece of paper and threw it in the trash can. I still sat there in shock, asked something about my membership which they didn't help me on, and then told me I was free to leave. Their sarcastic comments and smirks were absurd. The gym is great, but they really need to learn how to be professional.

When I signed up, I got cornered while waiting for the restroom and was pressured into getting the "personal fitness assessment" that I had no idea about. When the day came around, I needed to cancel due to working late and having heard that all it is is a sales pitch. Instead of being a no-show, I had the decency to text the trainer, Joe, and cancel. His response was that he "figured I'd cancel" and to let him know when I decided to start taking my fitness seriously. My roommate also had a terrible experience being harassed by the sales staff and being made fun of for having a "runner's body" when she declined the fitness assessment.

I go here almost every day. The equipment is mostly in good condition. The climate control works. The wifi works fine (it almost never works at the north high location). The staff members are generally friendly. There is ample parking. The soap and paper towel dispensers are usually refilled.

The hand washing area in the men's room could be wiped down more often -- like every hour.

This is the best gym I've seen in this area.
