Would be a decent place if there were a few changes. First the staff is absolutely incompetent and does not do a thing other than the very minimum they are assigned to do. The parking lot is supposedly a tow away zone, yet when patrons park outside of designated spaces and overcrowd the lot that is already too small, the staff does nothing about it. Also I have had numerous other grievances including being locked out of my locker and having to wait almost 30 minutes for a male staff member to appear and be able to go in the locker room to help me.

Second the children problem is out of control. I get they want to increase their customer base by allowing parents to bring their children to the daycare rooms or let them play in the pools, but of course parents let their kids run wild on the machines and again, the staff does nothing.

They used to have very nice machines including treadmills and bikes with TVs built in to the machines. yet because people abuse the machines those with TVs are now almost completely gone and even some of the replacement machines have begun to break.

If you go between 4-6 p.m. on a weekday do not expect to find a parking spot in the main lot, and also be ready to get into at least 1-2 potential accidents from not being able to see around the other parked cars in such a cramped space.

Bottom line...do not pay for this gym. If my apartment complex did not offer free membership I would have left for Planet Fitness or any other gym after the first time I walked out of this hell hole.

**Edit since original posting. I love how the only replies from management are on the reviews praising the facility. Because, you know, listening to patrons who have had a bad experience and what they might change about the facility runs the risk of actually improving things. God forbid that happens.

There are many reasons why I have been a Premier Club member for 20 years. The family-oriented facility, people-friendly staff, and general manager, Jim Miller, who has a unique grasp on the pulse of the club, all make for a great place to be. Unfortunately, I suffered a stroke two years ago that paralyzed me. The multi faceted offerings at Premier coupled with extensive use of the inside and outside pools gave me my quality of life back GET REAL! Without your health, what do you have? I absolutely cannot spend my money any better way! (Monte Rhoden, retired teacher/coach-Hilliard City Schools)

This is the best gym that I have ever belonged to! I love all of the group classes that I attend. The facility is always clean too.

So, I'm fairly new here but I've been nothing but very happy! I want to start out with that the staff has been very pleasant and kind. There is a lot to do here and it feels like I'm on vacation every time I go to the gym. It's a popular gym and even when there are a lot of people there are so many machines that I've always been able to find some place to exercise. I'm very happy with the pool and the locker rooms, being able to go swim after a workout and then heading to the locker room to wind down. We've eaten at the cafe once, but the food was fresh and delicious. Some of the weight machines could use a little love but they work very well and I haven't had any issues.

I have never written a poor review about any business, however, the general manager of Premier, Richard Smith, has managed to change that completely. If I could give a 0 rating, I would. Not only were they incompetent by lying to my mother's face, but their costumer service and their attention to their guests is beyond awful and the farthest from satisfactory. We signed a 2 year contract that was supposed to end in August. We were under the impression that the automatic payments would just cancel out right away, resulting in our membership being canceled if we didn't take actions to renew it. However, September came by, and we realized that we were being charged for a new month. When we called and spoke with the representative, he explained to us that the membership never actually cancels out on its own; instead we have to do that by giving a 30 day notice and pay for that month as well. We explained to him over the phone that we were not aware of that, and we asked, kindly, to be reimbursed for the September month. The representative, then, asked the general manager if we could do that, but the general manager proposed that we would just use the September month as our "30 day notice" and the payment that was already charged from our account would just go towards that. We agreed, and everything seemed fine. After couple days later, we went in to finalize everything only to be told that our phone conversation "was never documented" and and that they can't do the agreement anymore. The general manager was terribly rude to my mother and my brother, basically calling them liars because he didn't want to waste time as he had "no proof." He told my mother, "look guys, I don't want to waste your time or my time," and ended the conversation by saying we have to pay an extra month (October) and only then the membership will be canceled. Lying, terrible, rude, and incompetent thieves. They say you tell 1 person if you had a good experience, and 3 when you have a bad one; and I promise you, I will never say something good about this establishment nor its employees to anyone. I will never recommend this business to anyone, and I will always talk about this experience. It kinda make sense with all the terrible ratings and reviews you folks get, but you have just earned yourselves another one. Good day.

The place is a great way to get your workout in and relax from your day's stress. There is a spa room, showers along with every need, swimming pools, etc. Though it's on the pricey side especially with food. The workout equipment could be less cramped, and the sauna room is usually out of order. Other than needed maintenance and space improvement I would recommend.

Seems pretty dated. It's always way too hot in the gym no matter which area you're in. Which makes it pretty difficult to enjoy a good workout

This falls under one of the gyms I really dislike in the city. It is free with my rent, so for free I am not horribly dismayed by the facility. However if I paid $90+ per month like paying members do, I'd turn and run far far away.
Staffing is pretty terrible as far as fitness professionals go. Many are rude. I've had a few altercations with one and never has my issue been resolved. Talked to few other members similar issues. Checked reviews here similar issues. Most of the desk staff and service staff are nice and as helpful as possible. (Some are rude and lazy) Management just needs to rein in their personal trainers over inflated egos.
Equipment is decent enough, gets the job done. Recent remodel is "meh". Avoid peak hours..avoid late hours if you don't want to be around rude trainers.
Lifetime in Dublin is nicer and cheaper if you're looking for a lux gym. If you want the basics LA fitness is a good option. Even planet fitness is a nicer facility.

Facilities 2/5: Gym is well-lit and feels spacious enough. Indoor temperature is too high during the summer (bad enough that they set oscillating fans on one of the two indoor track lanes, blocking it off). During peak-hours you will have to wait for showers (not enough showers). Also, the child care center opens up into the lobby which make it pretty loud.

Cleanliness 1/5: The locker side of the male locker room persistently smells of wet gym socks.

Staff 2/5: Twenty minutes before closing, staff will ask you to hurry when showering so they can clean the showers. They also close off sinks to one or two available.

Amenities: 4/5: Shaving cream and disposable shavers are free.

Final verdict: Poor service, cleanliness, and temperature control issues preclude me from recommending this club to anyone.

Premier has great facilities for working out or swimming. The locker rooms are really nice too, they renovated them several years ago. The staff is very friendly and the place is well run. In addition the bistro is a nice touch, so you can get a bite to eat, drinks, or a protein shake while you wait/hangout. The pool in the summer is awesome! They have slides, multiple kiddy pools, diving board, and a kids summer camp. The place really has alot to offer. I've only done a few of the workout classes but they also have a ton of those as well.

I have pretty much been a member here since I was born. This place used to be great back in the day, but now it totally sucks. This is going to be a scathing review.

First of all, this gym is behind the times, and for the price point, it is lacking in equipment/amenities compared to similar clubs, such as Lifetime Fitness. The group fitness classes are not challenging enough and clearly the instructors are not held to any sort of standard, whatsoever. For example, I attended a "Power Yoga" class that was literally floor stretches with zero workout component. It was exactly like a class one would expect to find at a nursing home. They also have much less weight-lifting equipment and machines than other gyms in the area.

Another grievance I have is that everything is always BROKEN DOWN-- Whether it's the sauna, the steam room, the bathing suit drying machine, or something else. Equipment and amenities are consistently out of order or not functioning optimally. Obviously, management fails to see the importance of fixing things in a timely member. It makes me wonder how Premier is doing financially. If you are going to charge people 100.00/month or more to come here, you better be on top of keeping things nice.

But by far, The biggest issue I have with this place is the RUDE STAFF. Monday-Thursday, they close at 11pm and Friday-Sunday they close at 10pm. So, they ALREADY close pretty early for a gym. However, the problem is that the staff goes out of their way to harass you and bully you in to leaving early, far before the actual posted closing time. You could go in an hour and a half before closing time and the locker room staff will be shutting everything down and aggressively cleaning, getting in your way. They make it very clear, that as a member of Premier at Sawmill Athletic Club, you are not welcome. Never have I been treated so rudely at any other business.

TONIGHT I came in around 9:30pm with a couple of friends, for a brief workout and a dip in the indoor pool. We were in the pool, having a relaxing swim, when suddenly a slovenly woman claiming to be the manager approached us (I'm pretty sure she was lying). She told us that we needed to get out of the pool and leave immediately, because they had already closed. She said we could not use the showers or anything because she had finished cleaning. My friend pointed out to her that it was not yet 11pm, the closing time listed on their website. She insisted again that they had already cleaned and that the staff was ready to go home. We couldn't believe our ears. I would never be able to talk to a customer like that at my job!

Respecting the manager's wishes, we got out of the pool and went into the locker room to get dressed and get out of there. However, the manager stalked behind us and then literally pounced on my friend while she was completely nude. Her body language was aggressive, and it felt very awkward and invasive. Again, she yelled at us and said the gym was closed. At this point, it was JUST turning 11pm. It's not like we were in there after closing. My friend asked her to leave so that she could continue getting dressed. We put on our clothes and started to walk out, when she scuttled back and blocked us from exiting the locker room. She showed us some brochure with close times, and again, we made it clear that it was just now 11pm and we were trying to leave. The irony of this whole situation is that we would've left the premises well before 11pm had this woman not harassed us in the first place!!!

It really felt like the alleged manager was discriminating against my friend, since she seemed to be primarily attacking her. She even implied that she was going to try to get her banned from the club.

I would advise against spending your money at this establishment, unless you enjoy harassment. Also, non-related, but I found a bloody tampon on the floor in one of the showers.

My wife and I have been members at Sawmill Premier for two years. Despite some really nice amenities, this club seems to stuggle with basic maintenance and repairs. The roof leaks year-round and repairs are not made promptly. There are frequently multiple buckets set up to catch the water dropping onto the fitness areas. Today I saw they were using a wire mesh waste basket with a thin plastic liner to catch the water. The liner had falling down and water was spreading on the floor, within feet of floor electrical outlets. Who's making these terrible decisions that pose safety issues for members?

Also much of the cardio equipment, liked treadmills, are dated compared to LA Fitness.

Upsides are the staff is generally friendly and the men's locker room is kept clean and towels stocked.

Old gym equipment and the music is terrible! I just wanna know who's that stupid person who plays this music at the gym?!!

October 23, 2017 03:58

UPDATE: this hasn't been a problem since I left this review.

They have everything you could possibly want, and I've never had to wait for equipment that I wanted to use. But, the area where you lift weights ALWAYS smells horrible. I wish I could give them 5 stars because of how great they are, but the smell is just awful! Literally the worst smell I've ever experienced in a gym. They need to figure something out.

October 23, 2017 03:58

This is a place that has much promise that is simply not utilized for the customers. It is laden with distractions and impolite staff members. In one room, there is a dozen or so televisions on one wall, all with a different channel being played. On paper, this sounds convenient but it's a huge distraction. This motif repeated itself in almost every room. Pair that with most treadmills and the like come equipped with a TV and its just downright unnecessary. This doesn't even touch on the incredibly loud music they have blasting in the weight room. I can barely hear my own music over theirs pushing through noise-canceling headphones.

Next, The staff, once you get past the front desk, is rude unless you happen to be paying them directly for training. I once asked one of them to spot me during an exercise when he was just standing around, not with a client. He begrudgingly did so but I felt the entire time like I was a nuisance because I wanted to make sure I didn't get hurt while trying to push myself. This is a piss-poor display of fellowship in a place where we all share the same goal: self-improvement. I would say this gym needs to reiterate that goal and make improving the forefront.

October 23, 2017 03:58

This is the worst recreational facility I've come across for everything other than the amenities. The current customer service is deplorable...it is very clear they offer you a nice hook, but once you sign the contract, you're just a number. The welcome desk staff offers no greeting, you're an obstacle to personal trainers w/clients (oh and they'll get annoyed if you have a question about the equipment), no approachability, and the worst thing is that lifeguards are on their cellphones all the time. In fact, I just stopped swimming there because I didn't feel like they would be able to detect an emergency if something suddenly happened to me.
All in all, amenities are fantastic, but they are exceptionally awful at creating customer loyalty. There's a new gym opening around the corner, and I think I'll give it a try.

Update: I hired a lawyer and the management at Premier at Sawmill immediately ran like cowards. They are guilty of extortion.

The below is an email I just sent to the Better Business Bureau regarding management at Premier at Sawmill. It serves for a better review than the novel I posted earlier. This is regarding a total of almost $500 they have stolen from me and an additional $420 they are currently stealing from me.

"Attached is all the documentation they provided me with after an unreasonable amount of requests on my part. When they finally organized their mugging they threatened to hand it over to a collection within 3 days, though they finally submitted it to a collection agency a week later (this is after over a week of stalling on their part for an invalid bill that they've failed to address for almost a year). The second document from the bottom was not filled out by me but uses my name and signature. This is not my primary dispute but I wanted to clarify (the handwriting is noticeably different though both are admittedly sloppy)

As I read over this again I am physically ill by the disgusting nature these criminals seem proud to display. What happened to this world that something this ridiculous is even possible? The best explanation for how I feel is violated. I was mugged when I was in college. We learned shortly after that nothing was stolen from me and it was actually a gang initiation. 3 people beat me unconscious and I woke in a hospital several days later. I feel no anger towards the people who did this to me. I feel sorry that these people were given such a horrible lot in life, leaving them very few options and little hope of becoming happy and secure citizens. I will forever be outraged at the management of Premier. They are regular people, like myself, who have been given every advantage in life, and have benefited from thousands of years of societal advance. To be given such an unbelievable bounty and display this kind of behavior is representative of the most corrupt, repugnant people who are much more of a threat to society than any criminal who was given no alternative. Clearly the money is not my concern. I would relish the opportunity to turn down any money they offered me if they hoped to escape justice.

I will not be surprised if these criminals are protected by an unjust bureaucracy but I think the information I've provided is ample proof that these people have no consideration for their customers or for what's morally obligated as a human being. Everyone should be warned that these people are predators waiting for an opportunity to exploit those that they've manipulated and tricked into giving them their trust."

We've had nothing but positive experiences at Premier. I joined about a year and a half ago and have been a member along with my almost two-year-old ever since. I'm extremely comfortable leaving my daughter with the childcare staff, who are always very patient and personable. Even on days when my daughter is sad to see me go, she's always calm and happy by the time I go get her. There are plenty of cardio machines so I never have to wait to use one and the locker room is always kept very clean, plus they provide towels, hairdryers, etc.
