Had my first consult with Dr. Pai a couple of weeks ago. He came highly recommended by several practitioners in Albuquerque. I wasn't sure what to expect. I read his book in advance of our appointment. Great information that would help probably most people, but in my case, I was pretty much doing about 95% of it already and still having issues. Something else is going on in my case.

So, unlike a previous poster who claimed that his consult is a rehearsed version of his book - well, no. His book discusses the baseline of what someone needs to do in order to bring down inflammation in the body. In most cases, that will take care of a great number of problems for a great number of people. Why? Because most people are doing the things his book discusses and changing those things can bring about relief for them.

*Once those issues have been ruled out* then he proceeds to other causes. In my case, I submitted a written case history which outlined my issues and showed that I made these changes to my diet and lifestyle about 8 years ago. We really didn't discuss anything in the book because in my case while these changes were **huge** in my healing process 8 years ago, there was more to the story. We are working on figuring that out now.

I found his questions/suggestions during my online consult insightful and I have tinkered around with my diet in regard to those suggestions (things that were *not* in the book) - and I have made progress. I believe he is on to something. Because of COVID-19, I'm not willing to go get more bloodwork at this time, so I'm making suggested changes at home and keeping a journal of my observations.

At the same time that I was referred to Dr. Pai, I was also referred to an allergist here in Albuquerque. In my consult with her, she was dismissive and pedantic. Every time I would try to share my story and symptoms, she told me that those things are not relevant - even when I cited recent lab or office testing that disproved her comments.

By contrast, Dr. Pai was attentive, asked questions to better understand my complaints and symptoms and their development over time, and was "tuned in" to me as a patient.

Is it expensive to pay out of pocket for a doctor who doesn't take insurance? Yes.

Is it worth it to get to the root of a problem that has been going on in earnest for at least 8 years, but has probably been happening at least since grade school to a lesser degree? You bet it is.

I'm almost 50 years old and Dr. Pai is one of only a couple of doctors that has listened. He has been great at assimilating the information I had so far and helping me ferret out what to look at next.

I highly recommend him - especially to people who feel disenfranchised and unheard by the medical system.
