Took one free class. Thought it was a nice club. Liked the people there. Clean inside. Outside kind sketchy part of town. Kids outside playing in the alley were fun and distracting at the same time.
First roll there I caught a purple belt in a deep choke. When he pull put of it he sniped my left knee. It's a six week injury and hopefully no long term damage. Never got a text, call or email back from City of Champions. So I suppose it's not a match.
Overall, pretty good school. I wish them the best and may drop in again sometime. Although I'll be sure to take it easy. Dont want to end my BJJ career on a dirty shot during a meaningless roll. The ronin life continues.
City of Champions is my home. I first started looking into bjj gyms around the fall of 2016. I tried a bunch of places out and felt right at home at City of Champions. Everyone respects each other, rolls hard, and keeps each other safe most importantly. The facilities are clean and the atmosphere is mellow off the mats, which is exactly how I like it. Dustin (head coach) is an amazing teacher that has an old school mindset, with new school techniques. His experience in competition at the highest level of Bjj has made an impact on my own mindset and abilities under duress. I absolutely love it here. You will become family just like I did! 2.5 years later, and I am still as excited to learn as the day I first walked in. The only difference is that now I could choke my previous self out :)
City of Champions is easily the first gym that I would recommend to anyone who is interested in learning BJJ or Muay Thai in the San Diego area.
Dustin, head coach and owner, is an extremely knowledgeable and talented BJJ practioner; along with being an overall great instructor towards both competitors and hobbyists; kids and adults. Dustin teaches both gi and no gi.
Hiro, the Muay Thai instructor, is equally skilled and an outstanding teacher in his craft. Hiro teaches a traditional Muay Thai style.
Lastly, the sense of community at City of Champions is second to none.

Highly recommend to come to this place to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and others.

I found this gym while walking my dog around the neighborhood. I take Muay Thai with Aziz and Hiro. I also take Strength & Conditioning with Aziz. They are fantastic coaches and they are truly committed to the growth of their students. I've been going there about 10 months and love it.

I love this place! I have always wanted to learn how to box and I have a good friend who has been going to Prevail for a few months now. I did the Boxapalooza Sunday class a couple of weeks ago and it was great. Definitely a challenging workout and I would not recommend it to anyone who isn't already relatively active. However, don't let the intensity scare you away. This class is designed for you to go at your own pace and you can modify movements that you cannot do if you have pre existing injuries (I have had ongoing knee issues and I didn't have any problems). Overall this is a gem of a boxing gym and if I lived closer I would definitely be a regular City of Champions!
City of champions is a great gym where you feel like everyone is a family, everybody is about hard work and helping one another. The jiu jitsu program is top notch it is in association with a gym called studio 540 one of the top programs in southern California. Great gym come try it out if you are in the area ,worth the drive if you are not.
I go there alot and it's SUPER FUN! Everyone is nice and the classes are no more than a hour long. This is best place in San Diego to learn all you need to know about Mui Thai and Ju Jitsu.
I've been to a few gyms, but this is by far the best gym I've been to. It's a friendly and welcoming environment. It's a great place to train, be fit, and start living a healthier lifestyle. The coaches are very friendly, knowledgeable, and motivating. There are classes in the morning and evening, so it's perfect when it comes to working around my schedule. It's also a perfect place to meet some awesome people. You would have the opportunity to try out any classes as much as you please for 1 week for FREE! I always leave satisfied and feeling great about myself!
I started training at this location for 1 year and I enjoy it. The facility is clean and organized. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The rest of the members are friendly as well. One aspect of this gym that I really appreciate is that there are no egomaniacs. Everyone is respectful and polite. I have been training Jui Jitsu for many years with different instructors and the coaches here are some of the best I have encountered. The instructors are very clear and patient. I enjoy this gym and everyone in it and I'll be here for a long time. I highly recommend this gym to anyone who is looking for a gym who respects its clients/members/friends and who cares about your personal goals whether you are a competitor or just staying in shape.
