Welcoming gym, super friendly staff. The setting is pretty good, challenging for intermediates and good for beginners as well. They have a lot of deals and events all the time. I would recommend avoiding the 5pm-8:30pm hours because it is super crowded. Hope they expand, it'd be more spacious, plus they can add lead and stuff.
Spent this past summer in SD. Grotto was my favorite part of it! Super cool community, great climbing, and respectable yoga. This is THE gym to go to!

Love my gym! Excellent facilities and even better staff. Bradley and the whole Grotto team are like family. Would highly recommend Grotto to anyone at any skill level.
Great place, amazing yoga teachers. They have some of the best bouldering in San Diego and their customer service is on point. I even get a Happy Birthday wish every year via email. GOOD PEOPLE, GOOD Route Setters, and hard problems. This place is a must if your looking for a local gym in the area.
Good climbing gym, but day passes for $20 is too steep. It was like 90 degrees in the gym. I was sweating buckets before I started climbing.

Grotto is awesome. They've taken care of my students many times over the past few years, and always leave me with a good impression. It's because the ownership/staff/clientele are just plain happy to be there doing what they do. The facilities are well configured, and the range of support and services is impressive. Definitely some of the friendliest staff of any place one might frequent. They accommodated me when I was in a bind and went out of their way to make it especially convenient.

Checked this place out yesterday with a friend. The blonde lady at the desk was very helpful and nice, and let us know how the everything worked. The people there were friendly as well. I'm very new to rock climbing and places like this in general. I felt very welcome and free of judgements. Wonderful place!
Made me feel at home and welcomed into their climbing community, while I was visiting for the week and missing my climbing partners, back home. They have a great setting schedule - new stuff regularly. Great variety of beginner to advanced bouldering. Staff was super helpful - gave me pointers on where to boulder outdoors, in the area. They also rent crash pads! And to top it all off, the yoga classes are dope - they offer classes specific to climber's needs. Love this place. Whenever I'm in town, I'll be coming here.
Kinna pricey haha, but overall was a good experience. Everyone super friendly, good music, good equipment. Make sure to bring good workout clothes, u sweat. ALOT. #cardio
Great gym! The staff's always super nice, the routes are always changing, and the place is always really clean. Would totally recommend to someone new to climbing or someone who has been climbing for years.
