Wonderful community of coaches and members! The programming is well thought out and the coaches do a great job of explaining everything. The workouts are accessible whether you're an elite athlete or a beginner.

CrossFit 858 Uptown is beyond awesome. I am relatively new to CrossFit and am extremely impressed with the incredible coaching staff and the community at 858 Uptown. I joined looking for a great workout and love the results and friends I've made. The class schedules range various convenient times throughout the day from morning, to mid-day and night, which is more than I have seen at other places and is perfect for my shift work schedule.
I have been super impressed with my experience at the Uptown box. The location, membership price and schedule of classes is awesome. We also get membership at two other locations (Miramar and Mission Gorge). What's even more stellar is the level of coaching staff. I came with some funky habits from previous training. The coaches have helped me tweak my form and now I'm seeing gains like I haven't experienced before. I like that anyone from inexperienced Crossfitters to super elite athletes can work out together and there's no intimidation or gym drama.
The entire family of 858-owned CrossFit gyms is second-to-none. While I've generally never had a bad experience at the different CF gyms I've been to around the country (and even world), the thought that goes into the programming is evident. The coaching staff is always great, and the business is run, well, like a business. Now, before you think that this is a bad thing, having been to many gyms, I have seen how poorly managed gyms can deliver a poor product, but I have never felt that way. Equipment is constantly refreshed, floors are cleaned weekly, and facilities have been upgraded regularly.
If you're an out-of-towner looking for a place to drop-in, or even if you're a first-timer or experienced CrossFitter looking for a new home, you can't go wrong at any of the 858 gyms!
I have had the opportunity to see this box transform from CrossFit Elysium to what it is today and let me tell you they have done an amazing job! I have to admit I was a bit concerned when the transition happened (late 2015) but Mark and the staff did a great job in being transparent and available to answer any and all questions.
Now being a member at their Uptown location allows you to join their other boxes in the area. 3 for the price of one!
If I weren't moving to Portland for school I would definitely be staying.
