As someone who has been taking spin classes for 6+ years, this studio is really the best in San Diego!
Studio: The studio is located in the business district in Little Italy. Although the location might deter some people due to parking, it is always a breeze to find parking here. There are tons of metered spaces right outside the studio. The studio itself is absolutely gorgeous, with modern touches throughout & tons of seating areas to put your shoes on before class (unlike SoulCylce). One of my favorite parts of this studio, is the incredible lighting effects in the spin room. Most studios have just one color of lightning that they flip on or off during class. The lighting at this studio makes you feel like you are at a club, with light sequences that are synchronized to the beat of the music.
Ride: The rides here are so fun & upbeat, while still being extremely challenging & intense. The classes here are not targeting a specific group of advanced riders or beginner riders, instead they create a class that is inviting and supportive of all levels of riders. The instructors often provide methods in class to intensify a ride (targeting advanced riders) and methods to simplify a ride (for beginner riders) . Regardless, you are guaranteed to leave class dripping in sweat, have an incredible ride & be showered in inspiration from the instructors. As someone who uses spin as my primary workout, I particularly enjoy their Ride + Abs class. This class is perfect if you want to add some strength training to your typical cardio routine.
Instructors: What I love about this studio is that they give their instructors creative freedom. I hate going to spin classes where every instructor teaches exactly the same & every class follows the same sequence. At Pure, every instructor is incredible and all of their classes are so unique and different from one another. My absolutely favorite instructors are Stephanie, Dani & Maria. Stephanie always has the best remixes (mostly hip hop & pop), the most innovative moves & the best inspiration. Stephanie does a phenomenal job of making each one of her classes so unique & different from her previous ride. Dani is my favorite if you want an intense challenge (like back-to-back jogs & runs out of the saddle) & enjoy EDM. Maria was the first instructor that got me hooked to Pure. Her classes are intense with a great variety of music & moves. I definitely recommend trying all 3 of those instructors to really experience the great variety & talent of the instructors at Pure.
Staff: Whether you are a first time rider or have completed 500+ rides, the staff treats all their riders with 5 star service. Kristina, Bianca & Maria are always super helpful with anything that you might need before class or helping new riders set up their bike. If you are new to spin, this studio will definitely make you feel at home. That's where this studio really excels, I was getting so tired of the judgmental & cold front desk staff at other studios. Everyone here greets you with a genuine smile & ready to help with anything you may need.
Amenities: Shoe rentals are free at this studio. They also provide showers, lockers & changing rooms. Towels are provided for you at each bike & after class a cleaning crew cleans each bike after you use it. The also have some great snacks & Pressed Juice for some pre or post workout fuel.
After trying almost every spin studio in San Diego, this is by far best. I really appreciate how supportive & encouraging the whole Pure community is. There is none of that cliquey spin vibe from the riders or staff, no drama, just an extremely welcoming and supportive crew that is there to help you have fun & achieve your fitness goals.
