Group classes are very professional. All the equipments are very clean. Great place to go for a workout.
Usually pretty clean, friendly staff. Good assortment of equipment for cardio and weights. Class are offered.
The atmosphere friendly and welcoming to everyone. Group classes are great. Instructors are professional,
helpful and open to answer any questions I may have. The location is close to my home.
1- The affordable monthly pricing without the villainous contract to use the gym is what got me to sign up. 2- All the equipment, online systems, and gym areas (swimming area, free weights area, etc.) are always functioning properly. Additionally, the equipment and every area, including the pool, are sanitary. 3- There are hours where the gym is not populated that much at all conveniently allowing me to have access to all equipment. 4- The real early opening hours and late closing hours during the weekdays are extremely convenient. 5- There is an incentive to return to the gym as there are rewards for check-ins, friendly interactions with employees, and different events that bring the community together.

Hector helped me, I joined about 3 weeks ago. Everyone is very nice, front desk always greets you with a smile and they always ask how my day was. Good job I will continue to come to this gym
A staff member approached my partner about her attire. Said that it was against policy to wear a sports bra in the gym and said she'd need to wear a shirt next time she came because it was unsanitary for her and other gym members for her to have so much skin contact with the equipment. The weird thing is that I had much more skin exposed than her in our regular gym outfits (if we did a measurement of surface area in proportion to our bodies).
Before being approached by the Oswell rep we interacted with 5 other employees. None of them said anything about her attire and we were only approached 40 minutes into our workout.
I read the club policies when I got home and noticed that in shape is very explicit about what clothing styles are prohibited. Sports bras are not mentioned in their written document. It is obvious to me that the Oswell rep decided to make up this policy. I called another in shape location and shared our experience. The rep there felt that the Oswell location is mistaken and invited us to work out there, in full agreement that a sports bra is appropriate athletic wear.
My sister also goes to the Oswell location and shared that she has worn sports bras and has seen several women wear them without issue.
They need to work on their customer service i was sitting waiting for help approximately 35 min and the staff just literally talking in the office. So unprofessional i expected more from in shape staff. I understand they are young but where is the manager?

Clean place. Equipment is in good operating order. I have found the staff to be courteous and helpful. Only complaint that I see is that steam room and sauna rules are not enforced, why do people go in there fully clothed? In there gym clothes. Do they not know the advantage of why you go in there in the first place? A towel or bathing suit is sufficient. Who wants to enjoy those facilities then have someone come in with there smelly gym clothes and tennis shoes?

I just joined this location a couple weeks ago and it has been a great experience! I had my fit start training session with Jake and he really explained the machines and what would give me an effective workout. The location is very well kept and it includes a sauna, pool, and spa. I love doing laps and then having a nice soak afterwards.

The staff there is super welcoming and friendly from the moment you walk in. They seriously go out of their way to help you out with anything that you need. I like that they provide accommodations to best fit your needs. From the moment you walk in, they try to make you feel comfortable. They truly do care about your health and helping you succeed . Defenietly sticking with them!
I think the gym is really clean and organized.. you def get what you pay for :) I love the amenities.. I think maybe double up on the more commonly used resistance machines though. I am very satisfied with this gym though. It's a very safe and comfortable environment.

Just had a fit start with David learned a lot unfortunately I did not have the funds to purchase personal training but the fit start was a blast never had so much fun learning how to eat properly and workout properly
In-Shape on Oswell is by far my favorite gym in Bakersfield, I travel around California but every time I'm back in Bakersfield, Oswell is where it's at the front desk is great, the housekeeping does a wonderful job, had a great fit start and assessment with David the trainer he kicked my butt and showed me things that will benefit me for healthier life. Oswell gots my 5 stars
Just had a wonderful fit start and assessment with the David the trainer took me through some workouts I haven't done in years opened up my eyes to where I really need to be working out, going to buy training with him this month when my husband is back in town, these trainers genuinely care about you thank you in shape
The staff welcomes you with a smile and most of the time, by your name. The instructors here are motivating and knowledgeable. The combination of these instructors and the clientele make classes fun and effective. Love being part of our in shape community on Oswell!!
Mostly enjoy the gym but don't like that they shut down the steam room at 9. I have inquired as to why and all I get is talk to the manager. Unfortunately I do not have the time as my hours do not allow. Have not gotten a good answer as to why all of a sudden the steam room has begun to get shut down early.

I've only been a member for a little over 3 weeks but it is quite nice. Jacob, one of the trainers, is very knowledgeable. The check in counter staff greet you with a smile and the other members are very upbeat. I'm making friends in the aquatic workout class. This baby (fitness center)is a 5 star.
I just had a awesome training session with Personal trainer Jacob.. I learned alot. The gym was clean and well kept. I would recommend this experience to any first time members who are wanting to learn more about how to work out better and get more out of their work outs.
I have been going now for two months and I absolutely love it. the staff is mostly very nice. Front desk is always cool. The one who signed me up is Lupe, he is a wonderful young man and really helps you with a good heart. If I had any complaint it would be that the men's locker room could be kept cleaner.
Awesome Gym! Always clean and the staff is great! My daughter loves the daycare staff, which is most important to me, Dyna is her favorite. I actually schedule my gym visits when I know she is working. Its always a nice workout knowing my daughter is happy! Thank you Dyna for all you do!! Also like to thank Escobar, your great too!
This is my first experience with a gym and I absolutely love it! This location has a very helpful and friendly staff. I did my FitStart Orientation with Sam. He gave me nutrition tips and tips on what kind of workouts and exercises I need to meet my fitness goals. I would definately recommend In-Shape to others.
Hi my name is Jose and David is my trainer from In-Shape on Oswell, and he is maybe one of the best trainers I've ever had I was a two-time a month client but, today I upgraded to 1 time a week he has already got me great results and now I want more and I am happy to call this gym a family-friendly gym because everyone interacts with each other and that's the way it should be I see the energy, passion, and inspiration David puts into everybody and there is nobody else I would ever train with.
Awesome staff, great classes, excellent customer service, and all 4 of my kids LOVE the Kids Zone! I've been a member at all the Bakersfield In Shape locations for 6 years, and what makes this location stand out is the outgoing and friendly staff. Megan's "Good Morning Beautiful!" makes my day. I appreciate how all the front-counter staff greet you personally as you enter and exit. In Kids Zone, the staff smile and excitedly greet my kids by name and play with them while I work out. This makes the kids feel special and want to come back. Manager Kevin has done a fantastic job making sure all the employees treat people right. Thank you!
