I'm not sure what there is to not like about this place.  They have top-notch classes, facilities and the pools are huge.  We're a big fan of the daycare and outdoor pool.  People of all levels work out here.  We spend a lot of time at Lifetime.

it's a little bit pricey for the area but has every machine and device you can think of. Definitely a country club looking feel.

My boyfriend recently bought a membership at Life Time Fitness to get back on track with his health and fitness. He's been personally training with a man named Hunter, and he LOVES it.

As a perk of his membership, my boyfriend has 2 guest passes a month, and so I went with him to try it out. My first time there, I had a wonderful experience. The locker rooms are super nice and clean. They offer a steam room, a sauna, clean towels, and lockers. I lost my phone in the locker room and had 2-3 Life Time employees trying to help me find it. No one had stolen it, it was turned into the lost and found (another perk of going to an exceptional gym with honest people.)

The second time I went with my boyfriend, we were told that you could not bring the same person with your guest pass within the calendar month. Honestly, this policy rubbed me the wrong way. With the pricing of the gym and the perks that are associated with it, I figured you should be able to use your 2 guest passes in any way that you see fit. I understand that the policy is in place to get more exposure for the gym, but as I said earlier, it really rubbed me the wrong way.

Today I got a call from Erica Olsen, one of the employees at the gym, asking me about my guest pass experience. I let her know that I loved the atmosphere of the gym but that I was confused about the guest passes. I explained that I wanted to be able to support my boyfriend with his fitness journey and that the guest pass policy was a really big barrier for this support. While I would love to pay for my own membership, I am a full-time worker and a full-time college student, so I know that my schedule would not allow me to be able to fully take advantage of the membership. Essentially, my schedule and finances outweigh the perks and cost of the membership. Erica listened to me and was immediately right on it. She let me know that she would help me out with the guest pass issue so that I could support my boyfriend more than once a month without any trouble. She was very personable and kind. I got the impression that she truly valued my wishes and wanted to be as accommodating as possible. This is how I've always expected gyms to treat their clients, and I was very happy to have her on my side. I am a full supporter of the work they do at Life Time Fitness, and when the time is right, I hope to invest in a membership of my own.

Don't have to say much about this place. Not your average gym, this is a country club. Super clean, provided towels, parking lot looks full, but once you go inside, it's so huge it's not crowded and you don't have to wait to use any equipment.

Spendy, but you pay for what you get!

This is a great gym. Very clean. Awesome staff always willing to help out. I love that they have a cafe and i can get a shake or lunch after my workout. Only down side i can think of is if you go durning peak times there are people everywhere, and you have to wait to get on the machines you want. Other then that i would highly suggest this gym!

I really like the gym and love the pool. Just wish it was open for longer since weather in September is still good. Love yoga classes but they need to add more evening classes. Most of them start at 5.30pm and a lot of people only get out of work around that time. Please add more yoga options at 6pm and later, and more classes on weekends (currently only 1 or 2)!
Also, Jennifer is an awesome instructor but she seems to teach only day classes - please consider adding evening classes if her schedule permits.

Hands down the best gym in the Salt Lake City area.

I've been attending this place for almost 10 years now, and I gotta say, it's one of the best in the valley.

The Gym has a great atmosphere to workout in, the Pool is great to go to in the Summer, the Cafe has good food after a hard workout, and the workers in the Daycare center are very caring towards the kids.

Overall a great place for family and workouts.

I am not one to write negative reviews but this company has simply gone TOO FAR. If it was possible, I would give a - 2 star.

This company does not care about it's members, it only cares about the money they can collect from them. For the amount of money a member pays every month (which is fair $$ for a nice facility) they shouldn't have to deal on a daily basis with used feminine products laying around in the locker room bathrooms, no toilet paper in the stalls, no hand towels at the sinks and dirty, used towels lying around by the lockers, in the steam room or on the workout floor and equipment.
I brought these concerns to the GM's attention at least 3 times over a 6-8 month period of time before I actually ended up cancelling my membership (which I've had since 2008) because there was no improvement in the lack of cleanliness, only lip service. They blamed it on not having a night staff manager to supervise the cleaning crew. First, these things weren't just happening at night and second, the lack of management staff is not a member's problem.

THEN even after jumping through the company's hoops to cancel my membership, I discovered they raised the monthly fee and continued to bill my credit card. I had to cancel my credit card to get them to stop.

I called to see if i can bring a guest along that is visiting from out of state. On the phone she said yes you have 2 free guest passes a month. I drove an hour drive to be told by a rude girl at the front desk no guest after a certain time. Which makes no sense at a 24 hour gym. Not impressed with the staff

Pool is always clean. Gym is nice and big. But most of all I enjoy yoga classes in there! They are awesome!
// They close pool bar before it's scheduled . So you need to walk through all the building back to main cafe, because you don't expect pool bar to be closed.

My husband and I are relatively new members. Despite some snafus during the onboarding process, we've both been happy that we have joined. It's very clean and bright, a nice place to spend a few hours a day getting into shape. I'm an expat from Kubex and I miss the rope climbing machines and vibration plates; if Life Time has a wish list going for equipment please add these. Finally a shout out to my trainer Justin for all of his support, great job getting me in and keeping me motivated.

Best fitness club in Utah! The facility is clean and posh, and the service is always top-notch. Two pools and two jacuzzis inside, pool and jacuzzi outdoors in the summertime. The locker rooms are clean and have all the amenities, including towel service. Resort-like atmosphere, minus the mojitos.

June 5, 2018 18:41

I was so excited to join the gym. I have been a member for 5 days and have had nightmare after nightmare.

One of my huge contingencies to joining the club was that my children would be allowed to be dropped off and picked up from the child care center by our live in nanny. I was told as long as I purchased her a second pass for herself (which isn't cheap) rather than add her onto our family pass. I made sure to go in and ask for the sheet I needed to fill out. THREE different employees scrambled around with no idea of what I was speaking of, and finally they gave me a form to fill out. I filled it out, was told it was taken care of.

The next day my nanny went in to take the kids to the child care while she worked out. She was told she couldn't leave the kids. My nanny had to stand around for about 45 minutes before they told her I had filled out the incorrect form and that it was a different form required. So she drove 15 minutes to the gym, stood around for 45 minutes, only to be sent back home.

There was no apologies or remorse for the inconvenience caused. They never tried to make it right. They just ignored the situation.

I have had a few experiences like this now where the employees largely seem unimformed, confused, and on completely different pages.

The facilities are nice, but I haven't even been able to experience the majority of them because of ineptitudes.

So much more than just a gym. Absolutely amazing yoga, great classes, great atmosphere. Hot tubs, steam rooms, saunas, indoor and outdoor pools. Child center, kids activities, cycling, Zumba. Amazing spa. So much to choose from. Even the cafe is delicious and healthy.

Worst customer service from any company I've been to. I signed up for their package paid $180 to sign up for the package with personal trainer sessions, not knowing a month later I was getting a job transfer where they do not have a gym. I went in to pause my account and they said if I do that it gets rid of my personal training sessions I paid for. I went to the gym twice never used any of my sessions and they aren't willing to give me any of my money back, aren't even willing to work with me. Ive had two friends that wanted to get a pass because everyone says Lifetime is is so amazing, wrong. I talked both my friends out of it. I will continue to let everyone know how horrible this gyms customer service is until I receive my money back. They charge 3 times as much as any gym but won't work with their customers!! Just fyi to everyone thinking of signing up!! And then if you look through their reviews the owner responds to people who 1 star review but they do nothing to change. The manager at South Jordan is horrible, she's either incompetent or a liar about policies while signing up. Document everything if you sign up. All they want is your money!!

April 10, 2018 11:38

Life Time is the worst experience I have ever with any company. Not only do the overcharge but the staff are very incompetent. If you have a chance go anywhere else.

March 19, 2018 00:39

The posts about customer service are 100% accurate. Get and keep copies of everything. Record your conversations and ALWAYS follow through. Member Services looses more paperwork than anything. I don't blame the front line team members and as a former employee in a current legal situation with them, I am not going to go into detail. Just cover your but from the get go or you'll end up paying in the end.

Lifetime Fitness is a great gym. They have verything you need to achieve your fitness goals and the staff are welcoming and helpful. The pick-up basketball culture is excellent there as well.

February 26, 2018 16:11

For a gym experience it's about as good as you can get. Customer service is questionable at times in that it wasn't accessible to new comers. There are many exceptions. Jen one of the teachers is always phenomenal and others like here who do it for the love of teaching.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AT THE POOL. My family and I are brand new members as of Jan this year. On Sun 2/18 I took my family to the pool for our very 1st time. There was a very simple misunderstanding on the slides. There were no clear instructions or voice commands from guards. It's loud in there and the hand gestures we did see looked like motions to go ahead. My son and I both went down. Everyone was fine but there was little girl at the bottom. The lifeguard at the bottom was so horrible to me about the mistake, I am currently in the middle of trying to file as many formal complaints as I can. Dude lost it and FREAKED OUT at me as if I deliberately disobeyed the LG at the top and was trying to hurt someone... It was absolutely unacceptable behavior of a staff member and treatment of a club member. I was not even given the opportunity to apologize. Let alone SPEAK or explain our experience at the top of the slide. I admire and absolutely respect the post this man holds as lifeguard. BUT it's not a free pass to treat people the way I was treated. I am clearly not a child intentionally breaking rules, I only want to set good examples for my children. I was there with my family trying to enjoy our new membership and all we found was a horrible horrible experience and despicable treatment. We had such high hopes for this place.. Especially for the price to have my family be members? We really expected a different experience and treatment from staff. It really sucks to already know we will not be renewing. I am a military veteran. So I AM ALL FOR following rules and making sure everyone is safe. I'm even all for being called out on mistakes to prevent future incidents.. But there is a professional, decent and respectful way to go about that. This was anything but that.

While the facilities at Lifetime Fitness are excellent, the member services are horrificly poor. Once you sign up for a contract, they will not allow you to cancel, even if you move hundreds of miles away, they'll say they'll cancel but in the end they just don't do it.

Document everything, record conversations, because if you don't you'll have no recourse without suing them and they'll charge you several hundred dollars annually even if you never step inside their clubs and do your best to cancel with them.

Written documentation is irrelevant, because they just don't cancel your membership even though they tell you to your face that they have, or will. There's nothing you can do about it except take them to court, which is very expensive.

Hope you never have reason to cancel, unless of course you have lots of extra cash laying around of which you truly have no need!

They owe me several hundred dollars, but they claim I owe them, even though I began my efforts to cancel that membership clear back in May of 2017 after I moved way out of the 15 mile radius circle outside of which they claim they will allow you to cancel without penalty.

The dishonesty of Lifetime Fitness South Jordan is shocking and so sleazy that it boggles the mind. They'll smile to your face, claim that they want you to be satisfied, even claim that they have canceled or will cancel your membership upon request and documentation of your move, but it doesn't matter.

You provide it, they just won't do it. They say they will do it, and they don't. You call them well over a dozen times over and over throughout multiple quarters of the year to follow up and they just don't do it.

Until this is resolved, I will never do business with Lifetime Fitness in South Jordan, Utah ever again, and I will continue to share the ugly truth with anyone I encounter when the subject of fitness club memberships among family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and other acquaintances arises!

In short, Lifetime Fitness in South Jordan is just as sleazy as you've ever heard or read in every horror story of which you've become aware on the subject of any Fitness club memberships, anywhere, except the dollar amounts are much higher!

Love the facilities, and some of the employees are great, but seriously, caveat emptor! Don't even consider doing business with them unless you seriously don't need the $80/month, and under no circumstances will you need it for the duration of your contract term.

Great Club, if there is a way for a Gym to make working out more fun, it's Lifetime Fitness. Always fresh clean towels, clean and operating equipment, respectful members (people return their weights and clean equipments), Many alternative forms of working out, great classes (mostly included), Great Pickup basketball schedule, pools and hot tubs are clean and large enough for this size of club. Some people get intimidated by the amount of people that are in good shape, and these people need to flip their mindset. Would you rather play basketball with people who know how to play or with people who have rarely picked up a ball? For me, I don't get intimidated, I get motivated by the vast amount of people that care about their health and work hard to achieve their goals. I drive 15-20 minutes past 15-20 different gyms to go to Lifetime.

October 26, 2017 03:44

I've been coming here since autumn 2015. For gym standards in Utah its average to above average in terms of price, but the cost was worth it for the daycare. The kids center is tantalizing because I can be in the gym for 2 hours and my kids can be in the daycare having a general good time with lots of options for fun activities.

The emphasis in this gym has become get new members. Constantly. They're nonstop doing free weekends to tantalize potential members. They're rarely doing routine maintenance to address issues longtime members have. Falling apart showers, broken and dirty machines, broken lockers, broken bathroom doors. It's a big job. I get it. But bringing new members in brings in more money. Not sure where they're spending that money.

Update: Since posting my review, there have been several updates to the overall care and maintenance of the gym. They've put in new carpet, fixed the roof (which leaked during the winter), and hopefully there are other changes coming.

October 26, 2017 03:44

Used to be a great well kept facility. Disrespectful employees and lack of cleanliness and honest business ethics take away from the five star rating.

October 26, 2017 03:44

Awful, was treated really bad at the front desk and as a member who just paid $500 cannot even get in! never recommend this place! They are all not equal Chicago is much better!

October 26, 2017 03:44

I have been going to this gym for years and progressively it's gotten more rundown with the only improvement made have been the ones that benefit the PTs--like having a huge empty space to train their clients where machines used to go.

I called at the beginning of the month (30 days ago) to try to put my membership on hold and they told me I had to go in person. Being a full-time worker and full-time grad student I didn't have time to go until 2 weeks ago. When I did, I was told there was no member there to help me put my membership on hold or to change my form of payment since my last one had expired. I went back today and they apologized and told me there must have been a mistake because there should have been someone there to help me. My payment was quickly taken at the front then I was told to wait to figure out my membership hold

A newer employee named Brittany was very nice and apologized. She made me fill out a paper to request my hold because there is a 30 day advance policy I was never told about. She said she'd talk to her manager to see what they could do to put my membership on hold and would call me later. She called me a couple of minutes ago to tell me since her manager doesn't have a paper trace of me going in, they will have to charge me for the next month even though I can't go in.

I definitely feel fooled and lied to by this form. It was obviously something that was never going to be approved. They aren't doing a good job at client relationship-building. I feel like the only time any employees have talked to me have been to sell me something. This is the worst customer service gym I've been a member of.

This gym has a good variety of classes that are mostly geared toward people who don't work normal 8-5 jobs. It has an average outside pool with really rude workers. The machines I like are always reserved when I can make it to the gym (6pm after work) for some type of group fitness class you have to pay for.

Its a shame that I'm writing this review, but after being a member for so long, I feel really disappointed that this gym will not value my loyalty and how much I've had to put up with their increasing prices over the years. The gym has not improved, but their fees/membership does keep increasing.

Hopefully when I return they will improve their policies and begin to be a more client focused facility.

October 26, 2017 03:44

If you ever need to cancel your membership here- prepare for a nightmare. When we moved out of state, I followed all the steps to cancel our membership so that it didn't renew. I wrote a letter, sent it via certified mail with return receipt. Two weeks later, I checked online & saw that they updated my membership to "cancelled". I expected the CHARGES on my credit card to stop at that point. They didn't. According to Mandy & her manager at this location: just because they receive your termination letter & log it in the system, it still needs a full 30 days after that point to them to "process it". Translation: they will take your money for as long as they possibly can. When I asked kindly for a refund- even a partial refund- I was told no.

The only positive thing we liked about this gym were their swim instructors- my kids improved a lot with them. This whole experience with cancellation left such a bad taste in my mouth- especially when I was following the steps to terminate our contract so carefully, that I could never recommend them to anyone. The showers are filthy, the pool rules are ridiculous- they rarely have the indoor slides running. Rock climbing is fun...when it's actually open (which is only during their busy hours).
