A couple of months ago I dragged my aging, creaky body into Bayou Bliss Yoga and asked Dana to help rejuvenate my long dormant yoga practice. Six individual lessons later, along with some practice at home, I am definitely more flexible, of course, but she has also seen to the correction of some muscle imbalances I had, giving me a more stable stance and less pain in the joints. And I am beginning to recover my enjoyment of the practice. Her teaching style is not at all "just watch the teacher and imitate as best you can." She gives instructions, exhorts, explains, encourages, pushes and pulls as necessary, and continually revises her strategy until she finds what works for you. Always observant, thoughtful and open to the student's reactions and comments, she's a superb teacher who is entirely genuine in her desire to help. She also has quite a sense of humor and an infectious enthusiasm for the practice. I know they have several different types of things going on at Bayou Bliss Yoga, some of which I am looking forward to trying out in due time. There is a clearly positive atmosphere about the whole place. For now though, I give my highest recommendation to Dana's Yoga instruction.
