Easily accessible in mall at all hours, great staff - friendly and helpful. Good selection of equipment and available even at high use times. Can't beat the price! Highly recommended
Went to the gym and had a good workout, however the place needs a good cleaning. The locker room is much to be desired. It's a filthy area, the showers are really dirty. There is only three shower stalls. I looked inside the 1st one and no way would I step in there even with sandals on my feet. Looked at the 2nd one and someone is shedding hair. I chose the 3rd one because was handicap and cleaner than the others. Then there is no privacy coming out the shower. The planet fitness in Connecticut is so much cleaner and has privacy curtains. I also have to travel 20 minutes to get there. They need one on James island.
Have been going to this gym for a couple years now. Bre, Tommy, Annie, Andrew, Ariel, and Vivian are great examples of positive customer facing employees. They are attentive, helpful, full of information, and normally they have a smile of their faces. (Beaufort's location could learn a thing or two from this team)
I enjoy this gym. Reasonably priced and the black card membership is great because I love the hydro massage bed and nice massage chairs; helps keep me from being sore. The third shift male staff person is exceptionally helpful and I always look forward to working out overnight.
The only thing I can say is I've read all the bad comments and I have to scratch my head and ask is this the same place I go to? As far as greasy machines I notice many members disregard the instructions to wipe the machines down when they are done. Yes they do need to be more aware of running out of stuff. I have had to walk across the gym to find a towel and and then walk to the front to let them know. Other then that I have had no problem except for some of the older members using the gym to talk to people and not work out. I have had nothing but a good experience here and I am ALWAYS greeted warmly on the way in as well as out. At 10 bucks a month its still the best deal in town.

Personal training and classes are available if that is your thing. The only downside is that this super-cheap membership does not come with childcare. I will be leaving for that reason only. Tried many times to fix an issue with Planet fitness and nobody couldn't fix issue. They didn't notify me that payments weren't going through until I had an outstanding balance because of late payments. Defeats the purpose of a routine number to your bank when you have to use your card each time you go in to pay. Doesn't deserve a star from me. If you have similar problem just pay and cancel. They aren't going to fix anything. Even had updated card and still saying they didn't receive payment. Smh.

Really like the facilities, nice equipment for what I use it for. They have the no intimidation thing, which is cool, but I've walked out on two separate occasions due to people just sitting on the machines texting moving.... It's a circuit room, not a cyber cafe to text, let's move or it's impossible to do the circuit during busy times. When it's not busy, which is more often than not, it's really a good environment.
The customer service is majorly hit or miss based on who's managing.... I've stood at the tanning computer for minutes before waiting on a group of 3 employees behind the counter to finish their conversation before being signed in. Bottom line, customer first... Finish your convo when you don't have clients waiting.. that's just terrible customer service. One time she has the audacity to say "ugh are you going to tan RIGHT NOW?!" When I first checked in.... Yes I was, and sorry for interrupting what you're doing, but it's your job to check people in attitude free with a smile. That being said, only noticed that poor level of service with one manager, the others are always extremely friendly, most even going out of their way to give an above and beyond level of service. While it's not necessary, it's what every store owner should encourage their management staff to do.
The tanning is nice, the new computer system is slightly annoying with the strict 24 hour rule, but that's federal law.... A computer system won't break the law and the employees can't overrun it, just deal. Everything is clean yourself.... Which I did find weird having been to other tanning places before, and 98% of the employees won't let you borrow Google's if you accidently leave yours. No Goggles, no tan, they're 5$ so they'd rather sell u 4 pairs than lending a pair every now and then lol.
For the price, u can't beat it... If there was low.priced competition in the area I'd change purely based on serviced received by one manager/team lead/whatever her title is.

Revision: 5/16/2018.... So 7 months later... Now two out of the ten employees are still there... The two new-ish ones tonight we're rude as, well let's just say, hell to try and stay semi pg. Don't know who does the hiring for the citadel mall location... Or if you just pay the people so little they just don't care to even attempt to make customers happy and put a smile on their face..... but... Two people behind the counter tonight (950 est, citadel mall we'd 5/16/2018).... were rude as hell when I walked in.... still gave me.lio as I was singing in to tan... finally got sick of it and asked who was the manager on duty and this gem of a lady replied with "I am, why? What do you have to complain about?"

Figured I'd skip the middle man and go to Google or Yelp... Maybe the owner cares enough to check these things.... Or someone who's in charge of hiring new employees. So sad, but whoever's managing this location... Get your stuff together.... The revolving door on that place says something... u don't see the same person in there for.... maybe 3 months if you're lucky.. The new ones, have no expierence in customer service whatsoever..
I do know that I don't need, nor do I deserve to, be disrespected in a gym I pay to visit..... Going to switch to pivotal or some place that hires good employees, and gives then enough oerks to keep them there... Keep your employees happy... And in turn they reward u with good performsnce and keep customers happy. Up the budget for some quality employees that actually want to be there and work for u and improve your business and ultimately make u grow... they make customers want to come back and visit for their happy positive demeanor; not someone whos pissed at life and clearly.... Doesn't want to be working at planet fitness at 10pm on a Wednesday... #justgohome

The only thing missing is a wet sauna. Would pay extra for that amenity. Otherwise a great workout center

Just updated the review to reflect new management. Terrible customer service here coupled with substantially overweight "trainers". This is a fitness center after all. What can an overweight person tell me about nutrition? The barely friendly staff is unknowledgable and mostly unfriendly. They seem to be more interested in talking to each other than cleaning or talking to customers. Aside from that, there are often no paper towels to clean with. Trash is generally overflowing, and machines are greasy and dirty. Gangs of people hang out in the weight room to use phones or gossip which causes major disruption for people there to workout. The staff doesn't seem to care or notice. Not sure what happened to this location, other than the new management is lazy and doesn't care. I would opt for the other locations if possible. This place used to be great until a few months ago. I tried to complain, and I was told it was a "no judgement zone", which is odd because they have signs everywhere judging bodybuilders. They call them "lunks" and make fun of them. Really?! Sounds more like a safe snowflake zone. Such a disappointment after 2 great years!
Great place. It has a friendly staff. There are tons of cardio machines and the massage chairs and hydro beds are great. I have not tried training classes, but they are free if I wanted to. I have been a member for a month and I have to say that I am beyond pleased. I waited an entire month before reviewing just to try it out, and I have no complaints.
Super polite staff - gym is always clean -machines are always functional - and the staff is always helpful.

I always feel energized when I walk in this Planet Fitness. The other members have been respectful and overall the facility is very clean. The staff is helpful and nice too. Given the low monthly fee, I really cannot complain! Thank you!
Great place with all the equipment I need and more. Everything is always clean which means a lot to me.
I never thought I'd transition well to working out indoors; I tend to enjoy outdoor activities best. But there are so many reasons I love planet fitness. There is a great selection of equipment and multiples of the most popular machines so I always can use what I want. The staff is so friendly and helpful. I look forward to seeing them each day. And when I finish my workout, I can relax on the hydromassage table as a special treat. I love planet fitness.

Ideal if you like the idea of seeing guys changing in every fcuking angle.
Shower stalls were the same size as the ones in a 1998 Winnebago.
Honestly, I stepped out if the locker room and couldn't locate the exit - confusing.

I have done 2 classes with Sean now. The most rewarding was the PF360. He encouraged me during the whole class, along with the other participants and told us good job. He showed the class modified ways to use the equipment to ensure our safety and to prevent injury. He explained the complete class & demonstrated all the moves before we started. He is very knowledgeable and, definitely, what I call a people person. If you have not taken one of his class, I suggest you try one. I am sure you will find it a rewarding experience. I plan on signing on for more of his classes. Thank you, Sean, for all your encouraging words and guidance.
Front desk employees are rude and judgemental. A total contradiction to the company wide anti-judgement zone marketing campaign. There is no customer service training and employees don't understand that if not for the members there would be no place of employment.
Joined about 4 months ago and have not had a problem once, everyone is friendly and staff are welcoming, I got the 20 dollar a month package and I think that's the best way to go, everything is up to date and clean.
