The manager of this gym is the nicest person in the industry. The staff here is really great and friendly. The gym is always spotless clean. And everything works.
I joined this 24 Hour fitness after working on a back injury with a Personal Trainer on and off for a year. I decided to get a month work of session with a personal trainer to see if they could help me progress further than my PT had. In a single session my master trainer identified problems with my exercise form that had gone unnoticed, a revel ration which has sped my recovery up light years. The facility is clean and spacious and the staff very friendly.
Its really gone downhill. Its dirty. Machines dont all work. Its really sad to see 24 go downhill.
04/30/19: 4.25 out of 5 - I have been a 24 Hour Fitness member since 1998. I've worked out and trained in many different 24 Hour Fitness locations to this present day.
I've been coming to the McLoughlin & Holgate location for some time now. Of all the locations that I have trained at, this is the location that seems to best fit me and my schedule, which for the most part, is what 24 Hour Fitness is known for, convenience.
There is a lot happening at this 24 Hour Fitness considering that it's not as overly crowded in comparison to some of the other 24 Hour Fitness locations I've been to. There is a lot of parking which can get filled in, but there is an underground parking available to the members, as well.
This 24 has plenty of free-weights ranging from dumbbells to standard plates to the Olympic lift plates. There is a spin area to get your bike on. The cardio-aerobics room seems small but it's actually ample for the most part. A full size basketball court is available for all you ballers, too.
As I stated before, there is a lot happening at this gym. The staff seems nice and quick and open to helping its members. Definitely worth a stop and sweat on for those who are members or are looking for a place to get your swole on.
Kind of dirty. Best at slow times. Expensive.
I've been a member of 24 Hour Fitness since 2000, that's 18 years, and I started going to this facility as soon as it was built and opened. That is why this is so difficult to write a negative review for them but they leave me no choice.
I have complained three times to management about a particular young man who works out there who stinks. Now this is a gym and I have no expectation that it smell like roses but this guy reeks badly of BO. So much so that it takes your breath away and you can't breath, which makes it difficult to run on a treadmill. Each time I've complained, the staff member including the general manager knew exactly who I was talking about and told me that there were many other complaints.
But, nothing has been done, and today, yet again, I had to cut my workout short because I could not breath. I regularly see this guy running on a treadmill and no one is working out within 8 machines of him. But management has refused to do anything. We all pay to workout there and this is unhygienic and a violation of 24 Hour Fitness' own standards.
This is disgusting. 24 Hour Fitness, do something about this!
Additionally, many of the treadmills either don't work or have TVs that don't work. This is not acceptable when we are paying to work out there.
Finally, the locker room is gross. Mold is rampant. Please do a better job. I've been a member for so long, I expect more from you.
Very nice gym great back room steam room great well maintained very clean
Depending on time you go...I go early or late so most weights are free to use

A good gym, everything you could possibly need and lots of natural light and people to keep you motivated. Three stars for cleanliness in the locker rooms and bathrooms but thousands of stinky people here every day so what do you expect...

The staff are really rude, don't waste your time or money. The personal training is a joke.

This location is much more heavily used and less maintained than other 24 Hour gyms in the PDX metro. Towels all over the floors, dirty showers, plenty of broken equipment, and the towels, spray bottles, and paper towels are not refilled.
Simply the best! Great staff, clean equipment and locker rooms. 5 thumbs up, if that's a thing..
Love this place when I actually can get my butt to work out
Good array of equipment but as always, never enough space for free weights/body weights as the majority of the floor space is taken up by equipment.
Best 24 Hour Fitness in Portland. Clean, generally less crowded than the others, and convenient access by car or public transportation.
Great Facility. staff are awesome and always there to help. Gym is kept clean and has a good vibe to the environment.
Cancel early! They bill you a month ahead so you need to cancel more than a month ahead. I essentially had to pay for a month I couldn't use. Big thumbs down to their customer service in that regard. Another thumbs down to the standard of cleanliness. Expect hairballs in showers every time. Often I'd have to open a couple different lockers to find the cleanest one to stick my stuff in. If there was another option for an indoor pool close by I would have cancelled long ago.
One of my top favorite 24 locations! Very nice, clean gym. I love the pool and spa area so much. Hot tub always has the best temperature here.
Be on the lookout for fees when signing up. I signed up last year on one of the holiday promotions and thought I would try and get back in shape. I do the same for my partner so I have someone to work out with. 3 months later we get a fee for over $100 saying that it's my "annual" membership fee. Perfect promotion timing right?
Then when I call to cancel my partners membership, the same day the annual membership fee hit our account, they refused to credit it back. It took me 3-4 times to get ahold of a manager and she didn't do anything. Said she would check but nothing.
I've used the membership only a handful of times and now I have an extra month to use because I paid first and last month initially?! They won't credit that back either.
Read the agreement OR don't choose 24hr. They are slimy.
I know a number of people who don't like the big box gyms, or the lack of community, and I will say that even most of the class I go to do lack a sense of community. Everyone is just there to work out together. But I currently work out around 4am most mornings, and as a super early bird I love that 24 hour is open and available! They have great equipment that is taken care of and clean, attentive staff, and every kind of equipment i need. If you're a super heavy lifter or work out in the afternoon, it may not work for you. But if you work out at unusual times, or just need a treadmill for your workout, it's great!
Large space. Never feels crowded. Great staff of trainers. Good vibes all around. And Amber Le's ass...
