Jon, the GM at 24 in the Pearl, and 2 of his staff members are extremely rude, have unacceptable customer care or concern, and had egregious accusations regarding my account that are not substantiated. I called into complain and seek resolution, Jon was unapologetic or empathetic to my issues or my treatment and refused to provide his manager's contact information. Jon created his own version of club rules and is holding members to different rules and standards. Completely a good ole' boys club system. Too many clubs in town for this incredible poor management.
I wish the women's lockers in the swim area and the steam room could be scrubbed down better. Like Downtown 24 hr, they really need someone with interior design skills to put hooks and other amenities where they should be, e.g., at Pearl, should you have to walk around someone taking a shower after you've already changed back to your street clothes? Otherwise, they have a nice selection of yoga classes, steam and dry sauna, jacuzzi and lots of customers.
This is the gym that's best suited for me. Aside from the fact that it isn't far from my place, I also like that they have many equipment to choose from when one isn't working. Gym staff are also nice. I did not get a membership since I'm not always available. I just love that I always have somewhere to go whenever I need to sweat out. Will come back for more work outs soon.
This gym does what it's supposed to: be open, have weights to lift. It gets busy during peak times, but that's not the fault of the gym itself.
This 24 Fitness location does not have a swimsuit dryer and is thus far inferrior to other nearby 24 Hour Fitness locations.

Superb customer service from the onsite manager "Emily"
In a day and age where reasonable humans and good service seems to be hard to come by, Emily's willingness to personally help without making even one excuse was extraordinary.
Clean gym with great facilities. 5 star on-site Management.

Horrible business practices. Tried to cancel a membership by calling in a few months before expiration to say I no longer wanted to be a member once my year commitment ran out. Was told it was taken care of. Come to find out, they are taking money out of my bank account each month, despite me calling and saying I no longer wanted to be a member. They are ripping off a single mom with a life-threatening illness. Hopefully every cent they've stolen from me helps them feel good about their shady practices. I will be telling everyone I know.
This review is for the 24hour on 1407 SW Ave., downtown Portland and my trainer is Kevin Huntley. Kevin is an amazing trainer who has taken me from issues that I thought would never completely be right, to complete repair. I had a serious mountain biking accident where I had dislocated my shoulder and injured by back, so after a few years had pain and reduced mobility in spite of physical therapy, and the lower back pain was ongoing. I felt suddenly OLD. I had an even older knee injury and had resigned myself to never squatting again. When my knee swelled and I was downhill skiing, people used to ask me if I had a knee brace on and I didn't. I still downhill ski'd, and hiked, and was active, but the limitations were impacting those experiences and I could no longer keep up with my friends. After time with Kevin, due to his attention to detail, passion, knowledge, and PATIENCE, I now sometimes forget which shoulder was dislocated, I no longer ever have back pain, and I squat WITH WEIGHTS! My knee hasn't swelled for 2 years now. I feel this downtown gym is smaller and therefore more personal and friendly. The gym is always clean and employees are always friendly. I couldn't be happier with my results.

Not my favorite gym, but it serves it's purpose. Staff is not really friendly or engaging here. No hellos, have a good workout, or have a good day, see you next time, or something. Which I was used to from my previous gym. I personally have found that 24 hour fitness gyms are very commercial. They lack the feel of comfort I guess? Don't feel welcoming. Which kind of makes you not want to go. I've had memberships at several gyms due to relocating and decideed to go with 24 hour this time because they have locations everywhere and this said location is minutes from my apartment and work. However this is my least favorite membership. Will probably not renew when my contract is up. I joined online because there was a promotion and at my first visit I wasn't offered a tour which at first I thought whatever until I realized things were not as easy to find as I assumed. They just checked my id, recorded my fingerprint for future visits and sent me on my way. Can't use being busy as an excuse because it was 4 am and when I walked In the staff member was reading. I did ask where a few things were but I feel like if your setting up a new member it would just be routine and good customer service to offer a tour or at least a few finger points in the direction of the basics. But like I said it's serving it's purpose. This review is based off my experience, I'm sure there are people who love it. It's just not for me.
Lots of space to move around, but be aware of peak times. If it's busy, good luck finding a little spot of your own to do your workout. Staff is always friendly and helpful. The locker room could use more attention, as it's often kind of gross. Don't forget your shower shoes!
24 Hour Fitness is worth every penny I pay for it! Of course I get it FREE with my Kaiser Permanente membership. So as they say, "free is a very good price"! I guess that I can do without towels and some of the other frills being provided. The Pearl District location is super convenient for me as I live 8 blocks away. I use the gym late evenings and at night and I never have to wait in lines. I really like the pool, jacuzzi, and steam room. The classes are first rate. Staff is friendly and helpful.
A convenient and spacious work out location if you live in NW Portland. Nothing really to complain with a wide range of work out machines / equipment and work out classes with a selection of affordable plans (or do what I did and get the Costco 2 year plan for $400 - ends up being $16 per month for the standard sport level gyms). The only minor issue I can complain about is the cleanliness, but can't really expect much from a gym packed with sweaty individuals.
Unfortunately I have had to take a star off for pushy personal trainers. They have a tendency of bothering you during your workout :( They still have a good assortment of machines and weights though. It's a big enough gym that I can go any time and find open machines/weights. They could add shower curtains in the locker room, but that's fairly minor.
Really great gym. Friendly staff. Pool/spa area could use an update. Weights equipment is great. I love the training area where they have added extra equipment.
This is my least favorite 24 Hour Fitness facility, but also the most convenient location to my home. It's light and bright inside, but there is too little floor space and not enough equipment. I always feel like I'm in someone's way. Fun, effective classes, but show up early because they can fill up.
So far all my visits have been met with above average (not excellent) customer service, clean equipment and facilities, and plenty of free machines, though I am always there around 8am. Nothing but a positive experience so far.
