O2 Fitness in Carrboro, NC just upgraded all the fitness machines, including adding more than were originally there. I work with Head Trainer Jeremy Waller and my strength, balance, and overall wellness has improved significantly. Jeremy works with each client and fine tunes a training geared to each person's needs. The trainers and support staff are all available and friendly; there's a varied group of clients. I highly recommend this gym and the trainers as well as other classes, such as Zumba, Yoga etc. Check it out. They will give you a tour and answer any questions you have.

Everything is broken. Everything is dirty. The website is never updated. Good luck finding cardio equipment since 90% of them are "out of order" on any given day. And it has been YEARS of this. Management has nothing to say when asked about these concerns. "Actually, the treadmills aren't broken, it's an electrical issue. I can go reset the breaker if you want?" Your job is to run a gym, so maybe YES reset the breaker since 75% of your cardio machines aren't functioning? I have made multiple complaints. I pray for another gym to open in Carrboro. Carrboro is the worst O2 in the area. I will continue to complain until this gym steps up or it is bought out by a better fitness center!

I've been asking them to fix the leg press since May and they still haven't. The place is a dirty, unmanaged, and unattended location. Just drive to Falconbridge, where O2 actually cares about keeping the place clean.
To management: we all see you investing in new locations with premium accommodations, while leaving us to work with rundown equipment. You should be ashamed. Just close the gym down if you think this is what someone should pay $50 a month for.

Their guest pass is 15 bucks a day or 10 if you know a member. For that, you get dirty bathrooms, and broken equipment. The only leg press they have is broken. Which wouldn't be a problem but they only have a couple power racks. The equipment they do have is in poor condition.
They give you a free 7 day pass, and don't get me wrong, this gym is better than nothing, but you then have to pay 80 bucks for the month or pay the aforementioned daily rate. Ridiculous for people who are in the area for a few weeks looking for a temporary gym. These folks are delusional in their pricing based on what they have to offer. If they had a respectable amount of decent equipment it'd be a different story. I travel often and have spent less for temporary passes in gyms with three times the amount of equipment.
Judging from the other reviews, they have a solid record of broken, worn-down equipment. Their canned responses to bad reviews say they will work to "address the issues," but they obviously don't. A place with only a few bad reviews can be attributed to bad customers. But when this gym has more 1 star reviews than 5, it shows that there are real problems and that the management is more broken than their equipment.

This gym is convenient but it's dirty! There has been mud on equipment for weeks and I saw a piece of gym on one of the equipments earlier this week. They seem to have plenty people working there who are just sitting there but it doesnt seem they care to keep it clean. Half the machines aren't working either. Def not worth the money but its convenient.

I am very concerned about the safety of visually handicapped individuals in the Carrboro O2 fitness venue. For six months I have asked that the main walkway leading from the front door be free from inappropriately placed equipment; specifically two, huge, black ropes which are most often strewn across the black floor while walking to where the free motion station is located. The general Manager doesn't feel that this is a problem and refused to coil them up for my 96 year old visually impaired mother who has been attending a gym for scores of years. She can only use the free motion pully system. I am wondering if Michael Olander is interested in knowing that his Carrboro O2 Fitness General Manager not only refused to clear the walkway for my Mom, but also, told his employee not to as well. I coiled the ropes myself and told the General Manager to come and see how properly coiled ropes should be placed at the base of their apparatus, assuming he may not really know how. He refused, telling me that I didn't have to continue coming to this gym. I have been a member of the Carrboro venue for more than 16 years! I was late to my class because the staff would not do there due diligence to ensure the safety of my Mom, whom after finishing her 45 minute workout, would need to return on the main walkway to the lobby and wait for me to finish my class.
This being stated, I will start from the beginning. There were, abnormally, no available parking spaces at 9:50 A.M. I put the handicapped placquard on the window and safely parked against the planter so that I could get my Mom into the building, signed in, set up, and then repark if there were a free space. It was raining and there were food items set up on a table in the lobby.
I informed the desk staff of my intention to repark, but that if there were still no spaces I would be leaving my car safely next to the planter where cars could easily drive past mine. I had to walk around the gym with my Mom to bypass the obstacles on the main walkway and safely approach her free motion stand. As I was cleaning her handles and setting up her station, an employee approached us insisting that I immediately move my vehicle. I explained that I had informed the women at the front desk and that as soon as I had Mom set up I would move it if there were a parking space. He, again insisted I stop what I was doing and move my vehicle into one of the two parking spaces that had just come available.I looked at him and irritably stated,
"I said I would move it!"
As I went to move my vehicle the ropes were still across the main walkway. I went to the employee who had insisted I move my vehicle and told him that he should be more concerned about the safety of visually impaired persons tripping on the ropes in the walkway than he was about my vehicle being out of a normal space for five minutes. I suggested that while I was moving my vehicle he should be coiling the ropes so that the walkway would be safe. When I reparked my vehicle, I came in to get to my class and the employee was sitting at his desk and the ropes were still strewn across the walkway. I asked him, why he still hadn't coiled them up and that is when the General Manager said that he had told his employee not to remove the ropes from the walkway. The General Manager himself then refused to clear the walkway. I suggested that the staff and their patrons needed education on gym safety. This is when I was told that I did not have to use this gym.
I wonder if Michael Olander cares about this management problem. I gave the most important part of this review first and filled in the meat here at the end.
I hope that my review is a wake up call for Carrboro management, and that if Michael Olander does look at reviews, he have a chat with his staff about safety.
The other O2 facilities in the area are very safety concerned. Kudos to them!

I got over exhausted there as I foolishly intensified my leg workout and had (Vasovagal Syncope) however, the staff and the trainers immediately rushed to help me and were really kind and helpful.
Generally speaking, the gym offers you what you would expect a gym to offer you, basically everything you need.
Highly recommended one and the staff are really amazing people,
thank you guys :)

Really enjoy the facility in Carborro, especially since it's open 24 hours a day during the week to fit in with my busy schedule. The sauna is also a nice touch. It's a little busy right around 5 but I still haven't ever had any issues with having to wait to use a machine. If you go past 8pm the whole gym is basically yours with only 3 or 4 other people around. The manager is also extremely friendly and very helpful. They have dumbells up to 120 I think so there's never any of the issues for heavy weight like you might have at Planet Fitness. Great place overall, highly recommend!

It's great that the location is 24 hours a day but if you show up there and you do not have a special card to get into the front door it doesn't matter. Their constantly contacted me with advertisements but haven't once told me they would send me a card to get in after hours. I'm done with this place.

The employees there are amazing! They always try their best to make my experience the best it can be.

Very convenient, wide variety of cardio and weight machines, popular exercise classes. Only downside is that when machines break, it takes a long time for them to be repaired

Sure, this place is a bit dated along with some of the equipment and some of it breaks, but that is true in all gyms. What it has going for it besides location is a great selection of equipment for someone who is serious about weight training rather than just cardio machines. I visits all other gyms in the area and none of them even come close. The Hammer Strength machines, which are found only in serious gyms, are worth the price of admission.

Today was miracle! They had a trainer cleaning the machines today, which they never do!!! I decided to get on the stepper, and the next thing i know she was behind me cleaning the machine, like can u pls let me exercise first. Rude as hell! But they were cleaning bc the big dogs were coming in to O2 fitness. Everything is always broken, dirty and never cleaning supply!!!! The only reason i am still there bc i need to excerise.

The worst gym I've ever been to, on many levels. Poor staff, poor management, sketchy policies, dirty, violation of health codes, and I ended up reporting this gym to the health department. Don't waste your time.

I have been at this location since before it was O2 (was previously Kinetics and Carolina Fitness). Surprisingly after 10 or so years they still use the same old raggedy equipment. If you go into the multi purpose room some of the equipment still says Kinetics! Anyway, the treadmills are frequently out of service. There are currently 6 that have not been functioning for over a month. This is pretty poor quality for how much they're charging. The only good thing really are the classes and the fact that it's 24 hours.

The management at O2 Fitness in Carrboro is awful. I tried to cancel my membership because I was moving out of state, but was then charged for the following 2 months, but they never informed me my proof of documentation wasn't accepted. I provided several options of documentation and reached out to resolve the issue many times. I also wanted to cancel my personal trainer and they charged me for the following month, stating I needed to cancel a month in advance, per my contract. I didn't know this because I never signed a contract (or knew I needed to) for personal training and no one ever offered or provided me with one. It took many phone calls and emails for them to admit I didn't have a contract and refund me, which is why I didn't understand the rules. They do not communicate well or apologize for their mistakes. The gym itself is ok, but stay away to save your money and your sanity.

Small gym with the limitations that go along with that. Is really for the kind of people who want a 24 hour gym. The kind who jist need a few classes, some machines, and lots of weights. Friendly staff and kept clean so is everything you need if you just want to always be able to lift weights. Membership also gives you access to all other O2 fitness gyms which have broad ranges of options
