Family friendly, fun and self-esteem focused with a thoughtful approach to learning at your own pace. I can't express enough how happy we are that my son and I signed up.

My son love this place. The kids are so friendly and inviting. I really enjoy interacting with Keilyng who is the girl at the front desk. She explains the membership process in detail. Very professional. She even went above and beyond to help me with a dfficult membership payment process. I have been able to watch my son grow confidence and friends here. Great place!

My son has been attending N.M Jiujitsu Academy for about the past 18 months. I have been extremely happy with the quality of the instructors, supportive environment, and responsible approach to teaching these skills, particularly to younger children. The classes provide great exercise, help build important life skills, and will hopefully help my son keep from losing his lunch money in the Albuquerque Public School system. The students are taught to develop strength and confidence while reserving the fighting skills for defending themselves, rather than utilizing these to become a bully aggressor. It has been a great experience so far, one which we expect to continue for at least the next several years.

They are excellent with kids. Great instructors! My child has been training here over a year and a halfand loves coming here. The instructors are very patient and encouraging to the kids. The bully proofing is invaluable to the kids.

I can only provide a very positive review of Justin Hall and his New Mexico Jiu Jitsu Academy! I have been training with Justin for about 3 years now and have found him to be an excellent instructor as well as an accomplished martial artist. He runs his business professionally and with high integrity, serving as an important role model and mentor for kids and adults alike. If you have any interest in learning how to defend yourself, I would strongly recommend that you visit Justin's academy and try a few classes. You won't be disappointed!

Very bad communication from the lady that works the front. She never gave us a copy of a contract she had us sign at the beginning of our sons first class. We didn't have time to read it because class was starting. She also never explained what exactly we were signing after knowing we hadn't had the time to read the contract. Since a copy was never given, we never read the contract we had signed until my boy decided this was not the kind of martial arts he wanted to do. We go in to cancel and that's when the copy of the contract was given to us saying we have to pay $250 cancellation fee! If we were not rushed to sign the contract and given a copy in the first place, then we would have been able to read what we had signed and cancelled before the trial ended. The trainers were very good and I have no complains on their behalf. Although I feel like we were scammed into signing something we were clearly, unfairly, not given the fair chance to read. Why didn't she give a copy in the first place? So we can't read what we signed and get screwed in the process? I even noticed it said, I herein and acknowledge receiving a copy of this document for my records. I signed it, she didn't give me a copy, in fact, she gave me the original one AFTER we decided to cancel a month after the trial ended. I swear I asked her about a contract and she said nothing of one even though that's exactly what I was signing! Don't bother asking the lady questions because I don't think she even knows what's on the contract she's giving you to sign. She said we can take our boy out any time at no charge! They say it's heirsay because we don't have no proof of this situation, but they have my signature!

This is the only school in town that teaches authentic GRACIE Jiu Jitsu!!! The Gracie system prepares the student for the STREETS, not for the tournaments or the "demonstrations." I have been attending this SCHOOL since February, and I have a lot of good to say. First off, its a 100% positive atmosphere! All the coaches are nice, no intimidation, no bullying, and certainly no "next big thing fighters" that roll their eyes at you because you may be "interrupting their camp." No Cobra Kai here!
I've been to many different "Gyms," "Clubs," and "Dojos" in the ABQ area, and NMJJA is definitely a SCHOOL! They TEACH you with an actual CURRICULUM, and there are many Martial Arts to choose from (Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Wing Chun, Muay Thai, etc.). Its not a "Black Belt Club" where you come in off the street and get tapped out for an hour, and learn nothing (like teaching a drowning man how to swim). Its not a dojo that keeps people at yellow belt forever because "Well, that's how we do things." And its certainly not a place were you drill a random techniques, or mindlessly hit pads. ---> I've said enough, sign up today :) A++

My daughter and I have been going here for BJJ for a couple of years now. All of the instructors are incredible and offer unique perspectives. I appreciate so many things about the culture of this place. My kids love coming here, it's very family-friendly. I like the emphasis on self-defense and practical BJJ. Considering that we are routinely trying to choke each other, I think most people would be surprised by the very friendly atmosphere. :) :)

New Mexico Jiu-Jitsu Academy provides a welcoming, professional, and patient community of instructors and fellow students. The staff is very understanding of the need for work/life balance and does their best to be accommodating. I look forward to every class as one of the highlights of my day. My experience there has undoubtedly been worth the time and money, I only wish I started sooner.

I have been taking private (and occasional semi-private) Jiu Jitsu lessons from the owner, Justin Hall for about 9 months or so. I have some limited martial arts training from my high school days (too long ago to remember all of the details), but I pride myself on being a lifelong learner and know a good teacher when I see one. I can't say enough good things about Justin's credentials (4 black belts and counting) and more importantly, his teaching style. He is an extremely knowledgeable and patient instructor with the ability and dedication to continuously assess the student's strengths and weaknesses relative to the curriculum - and make changes to the day's lesson plan accordingly. He is highly respected not only by me but also by the children and adults who participate in his weekly classes - from what I have occasionally observed in those classes. His personal dedication to conflict resolution first and self-defense only when necessary is a set of goals and behaviors for which we should all strive. It goes without saying that he is a person of high integrity, is trustworthy, and honest and transparent about his business and customers. Please feel free to contact me directly with specific questions - I would be delighted to answer them for you.

Just moving to New Mexico I wanted to be part of "something" so I went and joined the New Mexico jiu jitsu academy. The instruction is on point and I am meeting great people along the way. Since joining Im now also doing Muay Thai kickboxing. Justin runs a great program. I love coming here it's my new second home.
