Initially, I enjoyed this gym. I liked all the amenities it offers and well supplied locker rooms. I had no problem paying my membership fee every month as I agreed to do and did so without any issues for couple years. I recently became a student and was no longer able to keep up with membership fee so I decided to cancel. They mentioned I still had to pay an additional month. Thus, I talked to management accounting, whom I had to email, rather than talk on the phone. After explaining my situation they would not let me out of this portion of the contract even though they have complete authority to change the contract. Why I'm give this two stars, not because they didn't oblige my request, but the "manager" I spoke with STOPPED talking to me, with no goodbye, thank you, how else can we help. Nothing. I've never felt more dismissed especially as a faithful paying customer. Very disappointed with this company.

Probably the most upbeat staff of all the sports and wellness locations. Considerate people willing to help.

Although the clubs make a nice first impression; Upon further inspection, evaluations and attendance of three locations, it is my finding that their ethics are inconsistent and questionable and I would IN NO WAY recommend entering into any type of agreement or membership with this company.

I love how attentive some of the staff are and how clean the place is when those workers are on shift. Also love all the BBQs and events like fitapalooza. Also they offer full service locker rooms and towels. Something no other gym does. Worth the money to avoid Meatheads and thugs at defined and chuze. Make great friendships along the way. Go midtown.

Love this place. They have a family changing room which is a must for me as I have a son on the spectrum. The pool is the best and my son and I love the basketball court. The staff is awesome, especially Nell and Bo, and very friendly. Just a great workout experience.

If a guy shakes his head over a gym that has MOSTLY negative reviews, he must be either an employee, one of the owners, or just someone with blinders on. Yes, the facility is great, and by itself, should have 5 stars. But let's add the apathetic attitude of the staff, the lack of clientele security, the inordinate amount of sexual harassment and predatory behavior from the males (probably including the reviewer who's shaking his head, or conveniently turning a blind eye when it occurs), and lack of knowledge/professionalism of the personal trainers.

The two that stand out, regarding harassment and lack of professionalism? Travis D. and his buddy, Jason Y.. Travis is becoming pretty passive aggressive and in THIS case, plain old aggressive, when it comes to ladies who are not interested in him.. Thus, he puts his job on the line daily, whenever he sees a certain female athlete in a hoodie who obviously does not want to be bothered with him. As of 6/6/2018, Travis was cleaning equipment under the direction of a guy with a blue shirt on.. The moment the "blue shirt" left the gym? Travis wasted absolutely no time, to walk directly over to that woman. And pretended to look for equipment to clean. He not only blocked that young lady from getting on her equipment? He turned toward her and pretended to "trip"/lunge toward her as she waited for him to move out of her way, while yelling something i couldn't really make out.. It sounded like "Excuse me!!" while looking dead at her, and sauntered off with this "pimp walk". He then, walked over to his buddy Jason, and they both yucked it up -while Jason was supposedly training a client. Seems like Jason is smarter which doesn't say much.. He lets Travis take chances of getting fired, while he stands there in the background, laughing with him about it later. I'm still trying to figure out, why is it those two can't seem to leave her alone? For the owners, who are reading this review? This incident happened between 8:30 and 8:45 am. 6/6/2018.. If that segment on the DVR is missing if you care to try to follow up? apparently, someone's covering Travis and Jason's butts.

Then we have these two, troll-like male creatures that desperately scour the gym for female attention. You'll know them at first sight. One is beige, thin, loud and obnoxious, the other is brown, squat and repugnant. They are inseparable. Apparently, they both go to the same barber who got his wires crossed. They have more hair on their chin, than they do on their heads. If you don't give them the attention they feel they deserve? Yep.. Those two will become quite vindictive. My advice to this cute couple? Don't waste your time chasing after someone, who has never shown any interest in chasing after you.

That automatically brings the 5 stars down to about a one.

I think that it's sad when a person chooses only to see what he wishes. So let's look at one more small detail. Not even the owners work out in their own facilities. They reside and work out in Denver, CO. Now, THAT should make you wonder, and yes - shake your head.

I love this gym! I first discovered it in 2013, and I fell in love with the gym's extra amenities. It has a pool, a Jacuzzi, a sauna, and a steam room (a private steam room is located in the women's locker room, which is so nice because men are not allowed!). Those amenities make me feel like I go to the spa instead of the gym every time I visit. In fact, the steam room has already cleared up and brightened my skin's complexion! No wonder multiple celebrities swear by steam room showers.

In addition, The gym provides fresh towels and daily lockers that have actual locks on them. You do not have to bring your own locks. The facilities are clean and the equipment is in good shape. Their water is infused with lemons and oranges! Plus, the staff is super friendly!

I do not know why people have written such poor reviews about this place. For me, it's the best gym in town! I've been to Planet Fitness and Defined Fitness and some boutique gyms, but they do not compare to Sports and Wellness. Check this place out if you care about your health and wellbeing. Your money will be well spent.

That automatically brings the 5 stars down to about a one.

I have been a long time member of this gym and when I read all the negative reviews I just shake my head. This is overall a great gym. Nice, well maintained equipment, great people, and a LOT of other amenities, like hot tub, hot and dry sauna, pool, full basketball gym, racquetball and more. Is it ALWAYS perfect? No. But this is definitely a 5 star health club.

Account management is a joke. They make false promises, pass you around, and ignore your concerns. Tyler Nunez (Personal Trainer) is great though. She maintained professionalism and provided help when I needed it. I highly recommend her.

Was in town for the USA Boxing tournament and they have outstanding customer service. The facilities were clean and complete. It was an excellent home away from home.

I went in January to midtown sports and wellness to be a new member and the frontdesk supervisor briahnna sedillo was condescending when I was asking questions that seemed basic but were my priority if I was going to sign up for $80 a month.
Their were no sales reps at the time that she said usually take care of new members, but needless to say she is definitely not the person to do so.
Also, she seemed to lack confidence in herself, she didn't seem to really know the details of the gym.
Paying that much money for people that cant even answer question about the gym is exemplary of someone who doesn't care about their job. I wasn't about to signup with this experience.

I decided to go with orange theory fitness. A way better experience than midtown sports and wellness. Its worth spending money when the people at the business actually no what they are talking about.

1.The pool is never warm enough.

2.There are robberies every week that management tries to down play so that interested members won't know and so current members won't cancel their membership.

3.There are only two cameras outdoors in a heavily busy parking lot.

4.After new membership begins, 3 months into it membership rates slowly increase every single month with no explanation from the general manager.

5. The hot tub is unreliable when it comes to the pressure of the jets and the temperature.

Terribly run. Have personally witnessed sexual harassment being brought up to management who, time and again, have blown off this issue, creating a space that feels unsafe. The machines are mediocre and poorly maintained and there are only two small mats for stretching-something that has me questioning why this is the most expensive gym in Albuquerque. Staff are nice, but overall it is an overpriced experience and a negative environment.

I am very disappointed in Midtown. I was a member years ago and as a teacher I received a good discount.
As a senior I joined again. I paid
$90 per month and was told that was a discounted amount. I joined specifically for water aerobics with Wendy. After several months I was told the bubble over the pool was not to be replaced. There are 58 water aerobics people in our group, mainly older women including myself. For physical reasons we are not able to do other exercises. We were told this was for cost reasons. Now we are told it is for the "greater good" (of whom I do not know).
After writing Jim Gay and Ed Williams the owner of Sports and Wellness at the Welbridge Corp. In Denver, I have had no response.
Perhaps older women exercising in your pool does not give the gym a good image. Maybe just those body builders are the image you want.
Anyway, you have lost my membership. You have also lost your best instructor, Wendy. I think many of our group will be moving to Defined Fitness.

I have been enjoying my Sports and Wellness membership for some time now. I am really surprised by the low reviews! This sports club is great! I chose sports and wellness because I have two children and their childcare hours are the best in town. I like this location because it is close to my home, the staff is friendly (for the most part) and if I get in at the right time I can usually get the equipment I want. If I ask the trainers a question about how to use something they are always friendly and kind. There was a mistake with billing and my account manager went above and beyond to correct the problem. I wish I could afford to hire a trainer! They have so many great trainers, it would be hard to choose one!

This institution apparently does not respect or appreciate it's members and thinks nothing of disbanding or deleting well attended and long standing classes. Would not recommend membership

October 24, 2017 11:57

Gym is good, BUT... beware the dreaded CONTRACT. Here's what they don't tell you and you're probably going to miss in the contract:

They require 30 day notice to cancel your membership. But not just 30 days... If you cancel on July 2, you are going to be paying through the end of August. Some BS about their 30 day billing cycle. So you really are going to pay them for 2 months longer than you use the gym.

And since this IS the most expensive gym in town (our bill was over $200 a month), paying for an extra two months when you want to cancel is some pretty shady crapola!

A call to their management company (Wellbridge) was answered with "well, you signed the contract..."

As always, caveat emptor because these guys are crooks.

Family friendly, great staff, Awesome trainer (Lillian), lots of class choices, clean and fun! Our family loves S&W! We can also go to any location, they are all a little different lay out but awesome. Try before you buy is always recommend by them.

The best location for a serious workout. This lacks all the niceties and country club feel of some of the other locations but is designed for the more serious athlete and that's clientele that come here.
