I joined Sandia Crossfit when I moved to Abq 2 years ago, and it was the best decision I made. If I had not come, I would have probably failed at any fitness goals and been much unhealthier. I started in the boot camp, which simultaneously teaches the basics of weightlifting and crossfit movement techniques while not being overwhelming for a beginner. The class itself is well-programmed to be challenging for anyone at any level - the trainers give plenty of scaling options, and are super willing to accomodate more specific needs (i.e. I sprained my wrist [not by doing crossfit] and they gave me movements to do that would keep me from using my wrist but would still target all muscle groups). They offer a variety of programs, and unlike most boxes they are focused on a more holistic version of fitness - they have a program specifically for Olympic lifting, but they also include Oly training as a staple in their regular programming on top of Metcons. The trainers are super attentive during class, watching you to make sure you don't injure yourself, and are very willing to give you one-on-one attention to improve your technique. The people that attend are very friendly and relaxed, but if you're the type of person who just wants to work out and be anti-social (me) they also respect that.
Highly recommended for drop-ins (if you ask, you'll get lots of suggestions for cool local things to do if you're visiting) and highly recommended for membership as the team are very focused on getting you to your end goals.
As a side note, SCF also is home to the Coolest Barbell Club Ever, who participate in local and national Olympic Weightlifting competitions. It's a ton of fun - check it out!
