Came across this place on google. Was interested in a gym with classes and an intense workout. I saw they had a groupon which was a good deal. I didn't purchase it because I was very interested in joining and rather spend on the membership instead. I did take advantage of the free trial class and it was great. The instructors name was Candace and she took me aside and showed me a few of the moves and assured me that as a first timer I would be fine. The class was one hour and was one of the best workouts ever. I knew at the end of class I was going to join so i went and asked about prices, and schedules. They gave me a pamphlet and sent me on my way. I understand no pressure but they didn't even ask. From a business perspective it was a loss cause I was ready to join on the spot but since they didn't ask i took the time to "think about it".
In short after one class, I cancelled my gym membership and immediately joined CKO. ( I chose the one year lump pymnt as I felt it was the best deal) I wish there were more incentives to join, like a free shirt or something ! I also wish there was an orientation of some sort like, thanks for joining, heres the website where you can see the up to date class schedule, the teacher, and to let me know about the gyms emails that keep you posted on any changes that are happening or may happen.
Its been about two months and I love the structure the classes provide, I have martial arts background and feel this place is credible based on my past. Very easy to get to from my house, and a much better workout then just walking around the standard gym.

The best workout ever! After the fall semester finishes, the gym in school also closed for two weeks. I decide still to be active until the school gym open again. So I got a Groupon coupon for two weeks of unlimited kickboxing classes. Best two weeks workout ever! I totally recommend go try it out staffs are so friendly and they are leaving to teach you all the steps and repeat over and over the kickboxing steps just in case you get lost or confuse. Totally enjoy my two weeks.

Signed up with them last year, 2017 with a promotion of around $65 a month. Had a family emergency so I couldn't keep going so I stop paying. Now a year and a half later I get a call from collections that I owe them $800+, that's ridiculous when I only went 2 months and they didn't even call me to discuss the account or anything. They will be hearing from my attorney.

Refuse to acknowledge cancellation. Typical gross tactics by a gym. Will do anything to continue charging your credit card even after cancelling. All good trainers left this place behind. Read the reviews. The good ones are from a long time ago before new ownership. Goodbye cko clifton.

The new owner should realize that he is the worst trainer in the place. Not worth waking up at 5am if he is teaching the class. Not so happy that I signed up, I feel like it was false advertising!

New management has created a hostile environment for both trainers and members as evident by the outpour of negative feedback and trainers leaving the gym. It is clear management has no respect for trainers based on how they are treated IN FRONT of the members.
At a trainers last class, they should be allowed to say goodbye to the members after finished, and I just witnessed as a trainer was met with an act of intimidation as the manager called in five people to meet the trainer at the end of their class, and then proceeded to kick them off the premises. Class act guys. This was disgusting, and I sincerely hope that for the sake of the CKO brand, someone that actually knows how to manage a business takes over.
Step 1: Communicate with your members.
How about you address the situation that you created instead of sweeping it under the rug and trying to ignore it? Although I still have a couple weeks before my membership of three years is terminated (OF MY OWN CHOICE), I am too disgusted to even walk back into the building.
Good luck to the trainers that were forced out of the gym, no matter where you land you will do great. I am sorry to the members stuck in a contract that is arguably one of fraud

The location is clean and spacious. Had a great class and look forward to more in the future. Happy to hear willing to work with veterans in the community. We appreciate it more than you know.

What once was a 5 star review for me has now completely changed. This is coming from one of CKO Kickboxing's biggest supporters for over 5 years, up until the past few weeks. CKO helped me lose weight, maintain my sanity as a mom of 3, go into labor with my 3rd baby, and balance a crazy life of kids, sports, work and much more...but if it weren't for the SGT (strength/ small group training classes which were included in the membership fee) classes, I would have quit a long time ago. The SGT classes helped me build the strength I wasn't building in other classes, break up the monotony of the same old kickboxing classes day after day, and most importantly for me, get in a killer workout in 30 mins, which isn't possible with the regular classes. I bring my kids to workouts, which I'm not crazy about doing, but for 30 mins they get to see their mom work her butt off and get their homework done at the same time.
When CKO Clifton changed hands in July (please note ANY reviews you read prior to July 2017 were based on the previous owner) the rumors were flying that everything was going to change, but I tried to keep an open mind. The gym got a facelift and looks great, but REALLY, is that why any of us are here?
When we got member surveys a few weeks ago, I continued to stay optimistic that everyone would give the feedback that SGT is the best part of CKO Clifton and is TRULY what has made it the Mercedes Benz of CKOs, and that the new owner would listen. Unfortunately, it seems that he's going to just lie and say that he received "overwhelmingly positive feedback" that somehow led him to decide to cut out ALL of the SGT classes 10 days from now. If you were going to cut them, at least be honest about why you're doing it...
So, sadly I will be looking for a new gym as well. I won a free year membership through one of the amazing contests the previous owner did last winter, and now it looks like the last 7 months of that free year will not be great, if I can make it to class at all with the new schedule. At least I have 7 months to find somewhere that will listen to its members and actually put what's important into their gym - ENERGY and KILLER WORKOUTS, not protein bars, paint and wall decals
To the trainers who have put their hearts and souls into this gym, I'm sorry that so many of your members will be looking elsewhere. It's unfortunate that you lit a fire in so many of us that someone is doing his best to put out.
CKO corporate, you indeed have an amazing foundation and have helped so many members across the country. However, a franchise should be based on the same principles across locations, but should give its owners some freedom and make certain things unique based on what drives their specific customers' interests and needs. CKO Clifton is not going in the right direction...open your eyes and listen to its members before it's too late

UPDATE: Following one of the most beloved trainer's last classes on 10/6/17, the owner brought in 5 people to get in the face of the calm trainer who was trying to take a group photo with her members, and forced her and 8 other paying members (and 2 children) out of the gym and "off of the premises". Not once did the trainer raise her voice or get upset, she simply did what they asked. The owner has now created an environment so hostile that members and trainers alike have been forced to leave. What's worse is my children had to witness such complete disrespect and now never want to go back again. The owner has taken it upon himself to tell people who were not there that the trainer "became very agitated in front of other members so she had to be escorted out." Hostile environment, no respect for members or children, classes which feel much more like a yoga class than cardio kickboxing, and now lies and projection of blame about one of his most loyal and experienced trainers. Do yourself a favor and try a different CKO!

New owner came in and cleaned house of all the best trainers. Shame.
