Horrible sign up experience, zero communication between staff members.
I signed up for a class online then received a text that I still needed to sign up. I thought I was good to go after my text conversation with a staff member, however I got another text the next day from another staff person that I was not actually signed up.
I then received another text that the class was a charity class that was supposed to be "free" or donation-oriented. The same day I learned my friend was not able to attend the class because it was his first time and first-timers are not able to attend 90 minute classes, after he had already signed up.
Since my friend now can not go, I called to see how I would get my money back, a nice woman on the phone said "no problem, we will refund your credit card." I have not received the refund and have since received two additional texts saying I need to sign up for a class.
This time when I called I sounded noticeably frustrated. The front desk's response was sassy saying, "Ok we'll refund you the THIRTY dollars" implying $30 is not a lot of money.
I have still not received my refund.
What is going on at this studio? There doesn't seem to be any communication between the staff. I will be avoiding this place at all costs in the future and recommend others do the same.
I love Orange Theory. I've been a member for over a year and I love the workouts. I don't get bored during the classes and I walk out feeling great afterwards. I love it so much, that I picked an apartment near a studio when I moved.
That said, I highly dislike this studio. I recently canceled my membership and will not be attending the classes here for three reasons.
First, the front desk staff are not polite. On several occasions, someone (Mariah?) said she would call me back and never did. In person, several staff members were rude. Some of them were misinformed and would give me bad information, then other staff members would act like I was crazy when I was confused. The staff is the biggest reason that I am leaving--I had problems with billing and classes being charged outside of my membership, and I got tired of having to chase people down to get things fixed.
Second, its difficult to get into a class. The convenient times have long waiting lists and I haven't been able to get into classes on the weekend. Plus, with the 8 hour cancellation policy, it is impossible for me to schedule a class too far in advance because my job can be unpredictable.
Third, the instructors are very okay. Not bad, but not great.
Staff was very nice. Dave was a really nice and personable instructor. My first class was a tornado class, which meant there was a lot going on and a lot of movement between different stations. A bit confusing for a first timer, but to be expected, for my first time.
I like that Orange Theory workouts have a lot of variety, in both the layout of each class (moving between rower, treadmill, and floor) and the goals of each workout (endurance and/or strength). The workout makes you work, pushing me harder than I would push myself on my own, and goes by quickly as you listen to the instructor and move between each section. I also appreciate how friendly and helpful the staff is. Initially, I thought it was a little overkill to have to be there 30 minutes prior to my first workout, but that time was valuable to learn how the class works, what to expect, get setup with a heart rate monitor, and review any injuries that the instructor should be aware of. All in all, it was a great experience!
I really enjoy this location of OTF. The coaches are very helpful, energetic, and kind. The front desk is also very welcoming and friendly. It is a supportive environment for improving your health and fitness. Even when the class is super challenging, the coaches encourage you and keep it fun.
Love working out here! Instructors are great and the facility is modern and relaxing. Can't wait to come back!

Love OTF. Always make progress towards my fitness goals. And it is a fun community.

The teacher and class were fine--what you'd expect from an OTF class. I was a bit disappointed with their customer service from the staff a few weeks later when I called about a billing issue. I was visiting from out of town and I know that some locations are premium or select locations with a surcharge. I was able to book this class through the app and didn't get an alert that this was one of the fancy locations with extra fees. No one called or texted me ahead of time or told me when I checked in at the front desk that there would be an additional charge for the class--then a few days later I see a $10 charge show up. I called and they made it seem like it was my fault for not knowing. I am fine with an additional fee, but it is nice to be told ahead of time that you will be charged. They kept saying it was corporate policy and there was nothing they could do--all OTF are independently owned and operated...so I am pretty sure there was something they could have done other than offer a half-hearted apology that no one told me and make it seem like it was my fault for not knowing they are a select location that charges additional fees.

Personal skill level can be tested - you work out with complete beginners and very in shape people who I aspire to look like. You can go to any location, which is imperative for my travel schedule. It is the most efficient way to spend 1 hour of working out when I only have limited time per day to put towards the activity.

Great class, and coach Inez is very good. One of the best physical challenges I have ever had.
I am so, so impressed with the personalized treatment and amazing workout I just received at Orangetheory Fitness Washington, D.C. - Mount Vernon Triangle / Shaw. The staff was highly professional, kind, and encouraging ... all while providing one-on-one coaching in a large group setting. They cared about my experience- I had a locker with my name on it when I walked in! No dim lights and rave music like other places. This place is legitimate and will very likely get my business. Two thumbs way up. #orangetheory #thelittlethingsmatter #personalizedexperience
Great place to workout and not packed at all. Great workouts that push you and this is coming from someone who works out and does CrossFit regularly.
I love that in an hour I can accomplish strength training and cardio. I don't need a regular gym anymore!
Such a challenging and motivating workout - great, friendly, welcoming staff! Can't wait to attend my next class!
I lost 45 lbs during my first six months here. Devoted, supportive coaches and excellent management. Join and have fun!
I love Orange Theory Fitness and was visiting from my home gym. Unfortunately I was really disappointed with my experience with this location. In general I didn't find the staff very welcoming; the other members in the classes hardly communicated with each other giving it an unfriendly vibe. The music in the lobby all three visits was inappropriate (curse words, etc). The AC broke--not their fault but a warning would have been nice as it was really hot and humid outside that day. I was warned about the 10$ charge for the honor of coming to their studio? but was assured this was a one time fee. Nope--10$ each class. Nice little surprise on my credit card statement. I called only to be told I must have must have misunderstood and the charges would stand. Next time I will work out in the hotel.
The best all around workout I've had in a long time (prob since college soccer days)- I'm hooked!!!
Great, supportive environment with knowledgeable staff that take the time to explain before and after how to get the most of your workout, setting SMART goals using a heart rate monitor. While you're gently encouraged, there is absolutely no judgement. To me, this embodies the idea behind fitness training. I hope to see more Orangetheory Fitness Centers like this one in more communities. I'm glad I did it. It's an experience that has to be experienced.
Amazing company! Give them one shot and you will be hooked!!
Beware of cancellation policy. I tried to cancel a few days after a new period started. I had to pay for that entire period (which I expected) plus the entire following month. Orangetheory has a 30 day notice cancellation policy, which means you must pay for the full next month if it starts before the 30 day period is over. After I cancelled, I effectively had 55 more days of service I had to pay for instead of 30.
Be sure to cancel right before a new pay period starts.
