This gym is a masterclass in fitness centers. The equipment is state-of-the-art, the employees are all kind and wise (especially the yoga instructors!), and the space is a genuine pleasure to enter. Between the yoga/dance studio, the pilates/biking studio, the strength training equipment, the wide array of cardio machines, cafe, recreation room, bar, music lounge--there is really something for everyone. It was my greatest joy in New Haven, and I'll truly miss it!
Really great gym with lots of amenities and equipment and functions. On top of that a great cafe and community area.
I am 63 and a long-time runner and exerciser. I have belonged to a lot of gyms, but mActivity is without a doubt the best gym I have ever belonged to. A huge selection of equipment; you never have to wait for something. AND a huge selection of classes; yoga, pilates, and great "trainer specials."
And for me, the absolutely unique and best thing are the 30 minute "turf classes," with a dedicated trainer urging everyone on and working on form of a large variety of exercises that lead to a fantastic "whole body" shaping by the end. Exhausting, but wonderful!
The trainers and staff are great! Responsive, always available, and knowledgeable. And this gym costs much LESS than anything even approaching it in other cities.
We could also discuss ample parking, wine and food bar in the front, music and literature activities, community meeting spaces.... But the gym itself is enough for five stars. mActivity sets a high standard that, I predict, other gyms will try to emulate. mActivity should patent its design! Six stars if that were available!
Excellent for small intement parties
Some deranged guy was in the front lobby threatening to attack people, and the staff did nothing about it. Absolutely garbage establishment.
EDIT: immediately after the incident, I notified the manager, who did not take any action. The deranged patron was a friend of one of the trainers, and they said they had seen this behavior before. Gross lack of professionalism.

This relatively new addition to the East Rock neighborhood is much more than a fitness center, offering spaces for community gatherings, a public café, and a venue for Sunday evening concerts. Then I discovered Mactivity -- a beautiful, stylish, light-filled space with tables, couches, good coffee, and a first rate gym. Now I write, lift weights, stretch, steam, chill on the couch, read and sip my coffee. I feel like I have been upgraded from coach to first class. I can't believe I hadn't discovered this place sooner. It is worth every penny. -- Jake

I love availability & variety of the classes too, from yoga, pilates to kick-boxing & spin classes. They also have a cafe with healthy food options, drinks, shakes, as well as seating areas in case you want to bring over your laptop and chill. I also love that they display local artist work across the wall, they look so pretty. I highly recommend this gym, it is different than any other gym I've been to.

Mactivity improved my life, and the whole neighborhood in it's corner of East Rock, New Haven. It's an oasis for self renewal & enjoyment. It's also a nexus for local community organizations, like IRIS. Personally, my favorite part of the Mac experience is the lovely ambience created by virtue of live plants, plenty of air & light, and local artists pictures exhibited in monthly rotations. I have to highlight the super-friendly, well-experienced, and talented staff: Kevin M, a personal trainer with a heart of gold and a body of steel; Olivia H, a nutritionist with extraordinary insight and patience; and Pablo, a diplomatic and caring manager. There are many other beautiful people at the desk who help me feel welcome and motivated like Jake, Alexa, Whitney...I could go on! Mactivity is the best! It's easy to check it out at one of their monthly socials with free snacks and fun things like last month's silly photo booth.
For me, this is a great place to work out and simply be myself.
The staff is welcoming, friendly, encouraging and professional.
The decor is a cross between industrial and chic, with metal beams and accents; to cool colors and art on the walls or suspended from the ceiling as you transition to the gym. It certainly
was well thought out.
The facility is clean and well maintained.
If there is a problem, issue or concern it is addressed quickly.
The option to relax with friends or sit to read or grab a bite to eat or smoothie in a pleasant, inviting environment is a plus.
I also like the fact that they have knowledgeable professionals such trainers, a nutritionist, massage therapist, physical therapist, and Pilates all under one roof and are easily accessible.
There is a gym for every one, but Mactivity is my personal favorite!

Great gym. Nice bathroom, sona, and steam room. Decent membership and healthy and tastful smoothies after working out.
I prefer the morning crew who are always glad to see you, starting with Brittany at the desk, Chris, who keeps everyone in line & Nate who is always challenging me. Patrons in the morning want to be there for the workout, not the socializing that goes on after 5. Showers are usually clean, and when they not, the maintenance crew takes care of it pretty quickly
I love teaching and working out at mActivity. It is clean, well laid out, lots of workout equipment, great vibes and a wonderful place to relax, grab a coffee and hang out with friends. Friendly, attentive staff and very knowledgeable trainers. Best Gym in New Haven!

Pleasant staff, considerate trainers ( I wintnessed four at different times working one on one and in groups), they were very pleasant and professional to those participating, clean facility, convenient hours, and for a guest of new haven for a few weeks, affordable!
Great gym. Nice vibe, friendly staff. Love it.
High-end gym with all the bells and whistles at a fair price. Clean locker rooms with good showers, blow dryers, steam room and sauna. Excellent customer service. Busy but not too crowded. Turf area with TRX gear. Cycling room. Large yoga room with great wood floor. 2 squat racks with bumper plates and plenty of machines/benches/cardio equipment. Regular group classes included. Many pricing options (per day or week, day pass bundles, monthly, annual). Cafe with smoothies/coffee/snack bars. Sound system usually playing high-tempo pop music. Mostly 30-and up professionals who are in reasonably good shape and interested in staying fit for good health. No juice heads.

It is already more expensive than any other gym in the area with $49/ month annual subscription and relatively small for the price , so we asked to sign up for a monthly plan which is listed at $59 a month. The associate took down all my info and after I swiped my credit card said the total for the month would be $80!. Apparently signing up for just one month is $20 more than their so called monthly subscription, which requires a two month minimum, a fact they conveniently do not mention. I have no idea how can they justify charging $80 for a small gym with no pool and no crossfit classes. Beware of this misleading advertising and we'll stick to more reputable gyms.
