Very clean gym. You don't have to wonder if you're going to find the dumbells. Great people. The pool is nice and clean... only down side is after the remodel they took away the punching bags in the studio and replaced them with werid water bags in the center of the gym (which can feel Intimidating and embarrassing). Overall it's a very good gym.

The GM here doesn't seem to care about the gym's customers. Forget your ID card? It's like walking on eggshells when everyone else has been accommodating when it has happened sometimes.

The pool was closed for an extended period. The staff simply said it was like another piece of equipment that had malfunctioned, they offered to open my membership to the other gyms - which I already have.

Besides the gym closing early, everything else is great, but I have since quit and gone to the YMCA which is so much better (although also closes early IMO)

I travel all around the world and it's one of the best gym I ever went. Sauna, Swimming pool, yoga class and a lot of stuff. The only small negative point is the shower is not so cold after the sauna. Still 5 stars.

Very big, around 75,000 sq feet with indoor swimming pool, basketball 360 & racketball courts. Newly remodeled with new flooring in main area & new functional training area.

Great gym! I switched over from 24 several months ago and am never going back. All the equipment is new and in good shape, they keep it very clean and well maintained, memberships are a reasonable price, and all the staff is friendly and accomodating. Especially Erin! She is eager to help and always friendly and welcoming!

After going to this gym for over a year, I am left asking myself why I waited so long to cancel my membership. On a positive note, this gym is very spacious with a lot of equipment so very rarely will you be left waiting for equipment. This gym also has extremities such as two basketball courts, a big pool and several racquetball courts.

Despite the positives, for the average gym-goer this place simply does not justify the price. The employees seem to neglect their customers on a daily basis. For example: as you walk in the door it is rare for someone to say hello to you, as the person at the kiosk is usually trying to sell someone a membership over the phone. They often refuse to look at you as they scan your membership card. The staff will go out of their way to greet you only if it comes with an attempt to up-sell you. It seems pretty obvious to me that the staff only care about getting as many people in the door as they can, but do not care about your workout experience. This neglect shows in the overall cleanliness of the gym, especially the basketball courts, which are often covered in hair and dust.

Overall, if you really want to attend a gym with a pool or a basketball court, and the amount of open equipment seems enticing, then LA Fitness might be the gym for you. However, for the average person I think that there are much better options for a cheaper price.

We love this La fitness! This gym is clean and all the machines work. There are plenty of classes of you are interested. They could clean the outside of the gym, that would be a really great idea!

Bait and switch!!!!! Management is terrible. It all sounds great until they have you sign the contract. Then the management/front desk treat you like garbage and try to weasel as much money out of your pockets as possible and they don't mind lying to your face about it.
The one star is for the cleaning and childcare staff who do a great job

The indoor pool at this facility is the best in the area. The downside to that is sharing, and sometimes (rarely) waiting for a spot in a lane. It's worth it! During the day, light pours in through gigantic floor to ceiling windows, and a couple of skylights above the pool. The air is well circulated/ventilated. Water temp is ideal for laps. Although it has not been an issue lately, there have been times when the pool chemicals were very high or imbalanced which made for difficult breathing and itchy skin. If you experience that, be sure to let them know, as the issue was corrected immediately after I brought it to their attention. The only other issue, and it's a very minor one, pertains to the clocks. There used to be a clock at each end of the pool which is ideal for timing laps/rests, but they removed one, and the clock that remains is often broken. Otherwise, I highly recommend this gym, based on the pool alone. The AquaFit classes are great too. But, the pool is closed for lap-swimming during AquaFit, so if you plan to swim around 9 am, be sure to check the schedule before you go. Oh, and the staff are nice and the membership fees are completely reasonable. If you like to swim, go here!

After searching for a week or so and looking at 10 gyms I finally decided to pick LA Fitness. They have a kids club which means from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. they will watch your kids as long as you pay the $10 a month per child. For me this is huge so my little one can socialize while I work out. Also they have a huge line of treadmills, ellipticals, biking machines rowing machines, free weights, racquetball courts, training classes and cycling rooms, and they have a sauna and a pool and a Jacuzzi. Pretty much anything you could ask for, plus they have music playing all the time, at a low volume level so it doesn't get disturbing. And they have a TV on most of the running equipment if you want to watch some shows. You can also plug in your headset to your TV to listen to something. Personally I use Bluetooth headphones and listen to my own music, but if they ever aren't charged there's lots of entertainment options to help keep me mentally occupied while I'm physically occupied.

One star for VERY PUSHY sells people in this gym. They will try to do and say anything to make you sign their contract. I would recommend going someplace else and not support this facility and/or their brand.

Great club. Very clean and all weights in their place. Been with LA Fitness for 23 years and this was one of the best!

Deplorable conditions and total disrespect by the managing staff. I made a couple of complaints about the cleanliness or lack thereof of the facility and the harassment began most of which I ignored; because I have a high tolerance for persecution. The last straw was when on January 2nd I noticed a man walk through the female dressing area just when I was about to disrobe. Well, I thought perhaps he had taken a wrong turn; but then the same man did the same thing on January 6th just as I was again about to disrobe. I and a couple of ladies called him on it and proceeded to make a complaint to management. Management gave me excuses such as, "he's from out of town and they could not explain the floor plan to him because he was Hispanic and could not speak English." Well, I explained that this same man had done the exact same thing days prior and should be given a tour of the gym to ensure it NEVER happens again. I asked why they could not use the cleaning staff (Hispanic) to interpret for him and simply scoffed at. I explained that I was a female veteran with MST (Military Sexual Trauma)/PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and the consequences of men being allowed to wander into the female dressing is very DETRIMENTAL to my mental state. I was told it was an accident and basically get over it. When I continued to state my case, I was told that I was barred from the gym because I was cursing and physically threatening (a total lie). The manager went to the computer and begin what he called "deleting my membership." I wanted to know how he knew which member I was if the incident had not been premeditated. He threatened to have the police called on me if I did not leave the facility. I told him I would take a seat and wait for the police (which never showed up). SHAME ON YOU!

Not sure how busy it gets in the evenings but when I went at 1pm it was pretty empty. This place can't be beat in terms of equipment and weights. I've been to plenty of LA fitness locations and this one is by far the best I have seen. 5 squat racks and 5 regular bench press. Need I say more? If you're here to lift you will definitely like this location.

Up until this point, I had a great experience at LA Fitness but unfortunately, all of that was spoiled by the horrible customer service I received when I tried to downgrade my personal training contract at this location. After fulfilling my six-month contract, I spoke with someone who I thought was the personal trainer coordinator over the phone and was told everything had been taken care of, and my account had been downgraded. After being overcharged two months in a row, several phone calls, and on-site visits, I was told that I hadn't followed the proper procedures to downgrade, and should have signed a downgrade document (which I was never given to sign). Initially, the manager I spoke with acted like I wouldn't be able to get a refund for those two months, and then ended up refunding me for one month, and forcing me to use up the remaining sessions in a 10-day span before the end of the month (or the final billing date as they refer to it).
Beware when signing or making changes to any type of contract with LA Fitness, and make sure that you ask for confirmation for any changes you make on your contracts or they will try to screw you over! So disappointed to be treated so poorly, when it was actually their own neglect that had caused the issue. Also, it is pretty much impossible to find or contact the corporate offices when trying to deal with these shenanigans. I used their "contact us" email option online, and didn't receive any feedback until after I had already dealt with the situation myself. Not customer friendly at all. If you are considering signing a contract with them, I would highly advise against it.

Terrible management who treats their members with disrespect as soon as they upsell them on a memberhsip. Rules constantly change: one day you are able to use a certain area, one day you don't. They will literally stop you in the middle of your set and tell you you can't use a certain part of the gym. Pooooooor customer service and not fitness friendly environment.

I really liked this LA fitness. It can get pretty crowded early in the mornings and after work, understandably, but it never gets too bad. The whole gym is always clean and you regularly see the maintenance staff going around vacuuming and cleaning stuff up. They also make a great effort in staying out of your way and not disturbing your workout.

They have plenty of machines and it's all on 1 floor so going up and down for your workout. Everything is nice a spread out. The staff are all pretty nice. If you get your complimentary personal training session it's a great way to learn about weights. The trainers can be a big pushy, but they are trying to sell you sessions so it makes sense.

The men's locker room is big and pretty clean. They have a lot of showers and 1 huge handicap accessible shower. There is also a nice sauna inside.

The pool is great, it is right outside both locker rooms and is always warm. They have extra wide 5 lanes that only get crowded during rush times but are more than comfortable for 2 people sharing a lane.

The jacuzzi is nice and can get crowded a bit. Some people mentioned how it always has this foam in it and sometimes there can be visible dirt at the top of that pile.

Overall though, you will have a great experience here.

Initial thoughts:
On my first visit I walked in with the 14-day pass my wife provided me with. I sat around waiting for a salesman to "assist" me as if it is a car dealership. The wait was not long; maybe five minutes, before Eric the salesman walks up. He sees me in my swim trunks with flip flops on and I tell him I came for a swim.
He scans me in and starts my pass on this day as I expected.
I make my way to the pool to find it filled with old women in a class. I ask Eric if the pool has open hours or something and he explains that I have come at the beginning of the one hour out of the twenty-four day that there is some kind of old people class in there.
Now I am upset because other than thoughtlessness I can see no reason why he would not tell me I may want to come back in an hour or on another day. He must have thought I am some jobless bum who had time to sit there for an hour and wants to jump in immediately after the larger-than-usual herd of people finished sweating and taking their departing urines in it. I made it clear I came ONLY for swimming yet he started the clock anyway, wasting a drive, that day's pass, and my time.
I do have a life and a job and it is far too busy to sit around for an hour waiting for the pool to open up. Apparently Eric and LA Fitness don't think so.

Update: I went in with my wife a second time a few days later after looking online at their class times, and the pool was closed. I am done wasting gas and time on this joint. Good luck.

The reviews are poor for a reason. The gym is, well, a gym. Just like any other gym in the area it has weights, treadmills, racquetball courts, a pool, and a sauna. The equipment is clean and taken care of.

However, the staff (specifically the management) is deplorable. After a recent interaction with the Oceanside GM, I was patronized, scoffed at, lied to, and misdirected. Unfortunately, it seemed, the GM was more concerned with texting than addressing a customer's issue.

What's worse is I wrote to the corporate regional VP with my concerns and haven't heard a peep. A business shouldn't treat paying customers like trash and shouldn't protect abusive employees.

If you're looking for a gym, great - you've found it. Rest assured, though, all you are is cash to them.
