If you're looking to lose some pounds, get stronger, gain confidence, and develop a great community, HMG is your place! I started my own fitness journey with HMG two years ago, and it was the best decision I've ever made. The owner and lead coach, Jody Beasley, is one of the best people (and trainers) you'll ever meet. He is incredibly form and technique-oriented so you will get stronger without being prone to injuries. Thanks to Jody and HMG, I lost about 16lbs (and managed to keep it off)! I went from only dreaming about being able to do push ups and pull ups to doing multiple sets of each. Come on out and see what HMG has to offer!

Jody completely changed my life. I was very skeptical at first, but gave HMG a try while Jody was donating all trial membership dollars to a disaster relief fund. I figured, if I hate it, the money was well spent, if I love it, the money was well spent and I found something new to enjoy. Over 2 years later, 100lbs down and incredible strength gains, I have never felt better in my entire life. I have never met someone more focused on making his clients lives better than being focused on padding their pockets with unused gym memberships. Jody cares about his gym family and learns how to guide you to your goals. He takes a personal approach with every individual in the gym to make sure you get the most from your training. It is very easy to see his passion for making people the best versions of themselves as soon as you walk into the gym. Do yourself a favor and give it a shot.

HMG Fitness is one of a kind. The mix of expert coaching, ability to achieve clear results, flexibility of class times, and the sense of community between members is remarkable.

Jody's in-depth knowledge of not only the Strongfirst methodolgy, but other aspects of fitness and nutrition allows members to continually learn more for themselves, which only makes the membership more rewarding. The detailed coaching in class is no different than having your own personal trainer, but you do not miss out on the fun and comfort of having other members in the gym to entertain and push you.

HMG's exercise plans increase strength, mobility, and cardio health without fail. In over two years of being a member, I have not seen a single person fail to improve in all three areas when consistently coming to class, or "practice" as HMG will have you say. The kettlebell can be intimidating at first, but everyone learns to love it. I've even bought a few for home!

There are several class times and open gyms throughout the day. The number of classes combined with the fact that most of the workouts only last forty-five minutes makes it hard to tell yourself you can't make it to the gym.

Lastly, HMG has a sense of community that is lacking at any big box gym, and most class-based gyms I have seen. Everyone is welcoming and encouraging. Members come to think of the folks they train with as friends, and a welcome part of the weekly routine.

If you decide to give HMG Fitness a try, you will not be disappointed.

Jody is a great instructor with a deep understanding of kettlebells and fitness. Although the name of the gym might sound intimidating, it is one of the most welcoming gyms around. People of all ages and sizes train there. Whenever I am in Birmingham, I make sure I visit

As a 47 year old man who started with no strength, terrible flexibility and not the greatest cardio readiness, I could not be more pleased with Jody and HMG Fitness.

This place is *NOT* a super-intense, gung-ho maniac gym, nor is it a long-distance cardio drag. It's a friendly, relaxed place, with personal coaching and attention, smart care to prevent injury while pushing you safely to your reasonable limits of performance.

It's a fun place for me, and I like the people who are drawn to this gym. I'm intimidated by the experience at some gyms, I'm just too laid back for that. But I'm also not afraid to sweat and work hard.

This place will give you strength, confidence, good cardio as a side benefit. All around physical fitness, personal training, and a relaxed gym environment.

For me it's all about being able to deal with life with strength. I'm lifting way above my age, and living without back pain all the time. Which is nice.

I'm not dogging the crossfit scene. If you can do it, and you like it, get on it with both feet.

But if you'd like to step back one or two little steps from that and focus on skill and ability without all the hoorah and craziness, then I think you should look into HMG.

It's good to feel strong at this age.
