It's a challenging workout physically, but as a competitive cyclist, I have to criticize the technique of bouncing forward and backward and side to side on a completely stationary machine as something that's really not good for the knees. Think all guided gym workouts are safe? Think of Crossfit, which is a boon for orthopedic surgeons They're not in many cases. Many are far too intense for their often relatively nonathletic clientele. Additionally, more recovery time between intervals of heavy effort would better maximize their effect. This is coming from a semi-pro mountain bike racer. I'm not much for crowded rooms, throbbing music, and a shouting instructor, although for a lot of people, this is likely a very motivational environment. It's wayyyy too expensive for what you're getting, however. I began training at a cycling studio/shop (the one I race for) when they moved closer to me. There, you can use your own bike hooked up to a machine, or one of their high end spin rigs, and you get a more beneficial workout led by a professional cycling coach for less money.
No shouting or dance music though, so not for everyone.
