I specifically followed the instructions from the trainer. I GOT RHABDOMYOLYSIS.
1 month later, I am struggling to walk a few blocks at a time.
The work out was a follows:
Set 1 (repeat for 15 minutes)
- 10 long jumps
- bear crawl
- 15 burpees
- 10 push ups
- 10 dumbell squats
3 to 5 minute break (don't remember)...
Set 2 (repeat for 15 minutes)
- sprint a street block
- sprint on this climbing machine
- 15 dumbell squats
- 10 kettleball swings
- 15 standing rows
THE INSTRUCTOR TOLD US AIM FOR 4 TO 8 OF EACH SET!
If you do the math, doing 8 of each would be:
- 200 dumbell squats
- 120 burpees
- 80 long jumps
- 80 kettle ball swings
- 80 pushups
- 125 standing rows
- 8 sprints, 8 bear crawls
Doing 200 dumbell squats, 120 burpees, 80 long jumps, and 80 kettle ball swings in 30 minutes? That is NOT sound professional advice.
I challenge the instructor to do the above workout. If somehow he was able to finish on time (he wouldn't as he didnt seem very fit), he WILL get Rhabdo.
I did the 1st Set 6 times and 2nd Set 3 times. I was exhausted. I take full responsibility for not stopping. I should know better. However, I felt safe since I wasn't anywhere near the instructor's goals.
After class, most of the "regulars" said they had actually done 3 to 4 of each set.
Dear instructor, please, do the math. I'm all for challenging people to push themselves. But then you set the "goal" to be over twice whats actually achievable by your "regulars", you are setting up the "newbies" to get hurt.
This basically a cross fit gym, expect the instructors are not knowledgeable about the dangers of cross-fit-like work outs.
