I went for a morning meditation. The studio is very pretty and it looks like a nice, high end yoga spot. The meditation was after a yoga class and I suspect most people in attendance came from the class. The instructor spoke the entire time which isn't necessarily my style, but that's okay. I can tune it out. However at the end they had us stand in our circle, turn to the side (facing the back of the person next to us), and they said to "give your neighbors some love." I was between two strange, sweaty men and suddenly one was massaging me and I was supposed to massage the (shirtless) one in front of me. Then we were supposed to go in the other direction.
I should have stepped out of the circle, but I didnt realize what was happening and froze. If they want to have massage circles, they need to let people know ahead of time so that they can opt out. I did not consent to two strange men rubbing my shoulders and it was not relaxing to say the least.
I can't speak to their yoga classes, but saw some reviews bring up similar situations with lack of awareness to consent. Instructors should know by now to let people opt out of being touched by strangers in classes, including by the instructors themselves.
