UPDATE: As of today we're over her year mark at Trident MMA. Her interest is still as strong as it was when she began. The more I see the teachers here in action the more I have come to believe they are some truly talented individuals. Aside from technical fighting knowledge, they know how to impart that knowledge to kids, make it fun, and keep them disciplined. That is a very rare combination of skills.
OLD REVIEW: My 8-year-old daughter has been training in Thai Boxing and Jiu Jitsu for about two months. She is on the unlimited class plan and usually goes 4 times per week. She's my fourth kid so I have a basis for comparison when I say - it's amazing that she keeps wanting to go back. Kids tend to get excited about something for a week or two and then it becomes a chore to them. The Trident Academy program is something she looks forward to. She's been to other places for taekwondo and the experience was very impersonal. At Trident, each kid gets attention in every class. There's almost always more than one instructor keeping an eye on things and they are not treated like delicate little snowflakes. Finally, the program isn't just about martial arts training. There is a character component with their STARS system. When's the last time your elementary schooler said, "Don't forget to pick up my assignment for next class!" There's also this little swell of pride when I go to tickle her and she blocks and counterpunches... Trident is worth every penny and the people are top notch. Give them a shot.
