At the West Valley Vasa, the enrollment person was incredibly rude and made me very angry. When I went to sign up at this location, I told the enrollment person that I had had a bad experience at the previous Vasa. He proceeded to do the exact same thing. He was trying to pressure me into using a personal trainer (which we can't afford) and lecturing me on how I should lose weight. I told him my goals were modest and that I just wanted to do my own thing. He wouldn't back down until I said, "Forget a membership, we're leaving". I don't mind helpful advice but if I've already told you it's something I'm not willing or able to do then let it go.
Even though the facilities were new at the time, the Precor machines were broken (or possibly had the heart rate monitors disabled). The cinema room is a nice idea but smells toxic. I complained several times, including online and never got a response. The last straw was when the manager singled out my husband, interrupting his workout 3 separate times trying to get him to hire a personal trainer. I'm pretty certain that most people would not appreciate being interrupted 3 times during their workout. I suppose if you are fit then this would be an OK place to go because you won't be targeted by their high pressure sales tactics. It's cheap and the amenities are acceptable.
Finally, when I went to cancel, I found out that they make you pay a full month extra, which we were not told when we signed up. This is one of those places where you'd better read your contract carefully because they don't want to tell you up front about all the extra fees. If you are just barely into your current month, you will basically pay 2 extra months.
Edit: I did not cancel within 6 months and did not pay the $25 fee. I did however pay for the remaining time in the month that I cancelled (which was fine) AND an entire month after that. So even in their response they do not acknowledge the truth about their cancellation policy and tell you that canceling is free!
