I am disappointed with my two visits at Orange theory. First visit, I had to arrive 30 minutes earlier before the session began. I was 5 minutes late (basically I arrived 25 minutes before the workout). Tammy Wilhelm at the front desk told me that I was late and therefore, I cannot take the first free session. I completely understood that as I arrived 5 minutes late but 25 minutes before the workout session. She was extremely rude in the way she told me. I did not take it personally and I left because I was late.
I visited Orange theory again today- May 21, 2018. To avoid any problems I arrived 45 minutes before the workout session began. Tammy Wilhelm would not interact with me at all. She assigned Ethan to communicate with me and fill in the paperwork. The coach and the fellow peers were great. After the workout, Tammy Wilhelm would not interact with me again. It was Ethan at front desk who interacted again and I was planning to take the premier unlimited as I can afford it. But, I had a few questions about the equipment and Ethan was not precise and could not answer all my questions. So finally, I asked Tammy -the manager of the Orange facility and she was practically rude to me in front of several people and raised her voice as if I was dumb. I am paying, and I have the right to know why I was paying more for a certain type of flex pod ($99, $69, $49) which monitors heart rates and what was the difference between 3 price ranges. I am new to Orange theory, and I don't understand the differences as I just use a smartwatch and this was the first time I used it. She was just rude by raising her voice in front of everyone! She started raising her voice and at one point yelling instead of calmly explaining as I am a potential client and was almost going to sign the Premier unlimited offer contract.
I went to my car feeling humiliated, and called my husband. I asked another person whom I worked out with this morning in the parking lot whether Tammy behaved like this with everyone and she said "No" and "Tammy is very business focused." But, she is not as rude as she behaved with you. So, why was I treated differently? Was it because I am a person of color? Why couldn't she answer a simple question politely when I am planning to give the franchise my business? I finally walked back inside the Orange Theory facility from the parking lot after talking to someone who saw the whole thing and cancelled my contract. When I went back in, Tammy did not care. She again said rudely "cancelled"! That's it! No more words because she didn't care and she does not want me coming in.
Tammy- I don't think you wanted me to come to Orange theory. "Please do not judge someone by the color of their skin. Judge them by the content of their character." "People will not remember you for who you are, they will remember you for how you make them feel."
My husband strongly motivated me to go to Orange theory. I have decided against it because of the front desk manager- Tammy Wilhelm.
I did the workout. The coach was great, encouraging, motivating, and the people I worked out with are very collegial. I almost signed the contract for unlimited offer because it was such a positive experience. But, Tammy-the office manager treated me like trash when I checked out after my first workout and I asked few basic questions because I was new. This is my second time visit and Tammy was rude both times. I have a Ph.D., I am educated, and I was going to take the unlimited package offer. My only conclusion was Tammy did not want a person of color coming to orange theory.
I hope the owner of the facility will notice my post and I hope this kind of humiliating treatment will not happen to another person just because of Tammy. I really was looking forward to doing Orange theory. But, why should I give my business to a place where the office manager -Tammy at the front desk treats me so badly? Tammy's job is to politely answer any questions a new customer has and not be this rude! She would NOT talk to me and was irritated when I asked her a question
