Adding to my review, it is now March, Friday the 13th 2020 and traveled to other LTF and ALLEN still holds on to their low ranking. Corona grows more incense. ALLEN does look like they cleaned up all the gross hair but not doing good to show a presence upstairs constantly cleaning. It was 90 minutes before seeing someone. See the additional pics I captured.
By far the worst cleanliness LTF in the nation as of March 7, 2020. I travel for a living and workout at several LTF locations from Orlando to Denver. I have complained and showed pics to the ALLEN, TX management and they offer you LT Bucks to make you go away. Enough is enough. I would think with this Corona thing going on they would step up their game. Just horrible.
We have been going for over a year now and we've had some positive experiences and some negative ones as well. I gave a 3 star rating due to some of the trainers. For the most part we get along with the majority of the trainers, but two of them were completely unprofessional and rude, i.e. one experience I had with i believe Jeff, I was literally in the middle of my set and he approached from behind and says how many more sets you got, I didn't answer hoping he would get a clue, but he didn't and continued, so I grab my stuff and walked off... how about waiting till a member is done with their set and how about introducing yourself, just a thought, I pay money here too and I was there first, trainer or not wait your turn, I've never once in my 20 years in the gym interrupted someone mid-set. The second negative experience I had with one of the trainers ( tall guy with glasses, I just did my first set on the ab bench, he comes over and yet again doesn't introduce himself, and ask how many more sets you got, I say 4 as I just did my first set, apparently that blew his mind because he gets a rude smirk on his face and goes "wow" and then turns his back to me, even after that treatment I still offer the old "do you want work in with me" he says "no" and continues on... they need to take some notes from Zachary (trainer) he's a good dude and a professional and seems to have respect for everyone in the gym not just the ones his training. My suggestions are simple, don't interrupt members in the middle of their set, introduce yourself and be respectful, it'll go a long way!
Life Time is my family. The people are so great and they really care about your progress. The facility has something for everyone from young children to adults!
The equipments are good enough. However, all the pedals of the ellipticals are very dirty, just like some one had a muddy shoes and stepped on it but Lifetime never clean them.
Common, you charge a lot of money please keep the facility classy with your price
Great facility, clean safe. Staff are very professional and well mannered. Even the people working out are amazing, friendly to new people and helpful. Didnt get to use the pool but there is always lifeguards on duty being on their toes at all time. People at the front desk are very patient professional and over all have 5 out 5 star "people skills". I came to dallas for 1 day from sugar land. Now considering working or atleast getting a membership at one of their facilities.
I got a HORRIFIC BACTERIAL INFECTION on my face, head and in my eyes from the steam room droplets from the ceiling that fell on my head. My doctor took cultures and verified tons of crazy bacteria growing in the dish. I have missed work and spent much time in the doctors offices trying to clear this up. I stopped by and talked to one of the managers on 9/6/18. I was promised follow up calls from managers and even the GM. NOTHING AS OF TODAY!!!! We pay over $200 a month for a family membership. Thank God is was me and not one of my children!!!!
This facility withdrew over 1,500 dollars in unauthorized fees. No one can help you address the issue, no one will refund the money. Ultimately, after 7 months of constant phone calls and threats of police involvement, they refunded half of my money and gave me the other half in personal training hours. I reluctantly accepted the offer because it was clear they were going to keep the money regardless of what I did, so I took the hours, problem there was the trainer would cancel last minute 65% of the time (I kept record of it for proof.) My family ultimately just quit, loosing several hundred dollars to the facility, and now we are still being charged random fees months after our termination which was finalized at the gym with the manager. Beware, if you even inquire about additional services beyond your monthly dues they will just sign you up and you have no recourse whatsoever, I would highly discourage anyone from going here and if you read down the line on reviews, I am not the only person who has had identical problems.
I complained to a friend who attends the gym and does not check his credit card statement at all, but during our conversation he found he has 800 dollars a month coming out of his account and he has a basic membership plan for one person... their response was "sorry you were signed up for additional programs that you were not utilizing...." He did not sign up for anything additional.

The facility is always clean and the gym upstairs is very good but a very pricey membership. Awesome pool and cafe

Great gym. Best bang for your buck if you have kids
These clubs are beyond fantastic!!! They are like a spa, community, and support network all in one convenient location. They kept my sons active and fit and provide a relaxing place for me to enjoy TX summers by the pool.
I have been a member of Allen location since before it opened and before that in MN Lifetime started there. Used to play b-ball with Brahm on 90th St. Bloomington. He has always believed in healthy lifestyles and customer service first.

Bad customers. . Every one in the management and employees acts with u as general manager and the G.M always not in the office or out .. they rent the outside pool and no leave any notes or email u to let u know and then when when u go they prevent u to use wht kind of bs that we pay money for them to rent tge pool for strangers and we r a members we can't i will make huge complain about that
I joined LifeTime 6 months ago. While other Lifetime facilities are good too, I really like the Allen-McKinney facility - very friendly staff and awesome trainers! There are so many options available to keep me going with my work outs....
I went from less than 4-5 times a month before, to almost 4-5 times a week working out. I feel good and dropped my %PBF by 5 points since January. Good stuff!
Tons of Cardio and Strength equipment, boat load of group exercises...cycling, barbell, TCX, pilates, yoga, etc., which are included with the membership.....as well as team work outs which I recently started, which is pay per month. They are worth the $....considering you get 12-14 trainer coordinated work out sessions per month.
I've had a pretty positive experience at this LifeTime. Things are pretty clean, towels are there (75% of the time), and overall the building and equipment is in decent shape.
Areas they likely need to address:
1. Staff - the front reception area staff are always on the phone and disengaged. They never connect at all or say "hi". They just wave you up to scan your ID card. My expectations are not country club like for the establishment, but some basic courtesy would go a long way.
2. Towels - Not always present, they need to make sure they are anticipating the rushes and are prepared.
3. When we have our children there to swim there is a family locker room. I've seen too many "none family" people use it as an exit point. That's totally unacceptable and LifeTime needs to communicate to people that area isn't an egress point for non-families.
I love this place, management is actually very friendly as are the other sales reps. Its a clean facility with tons of amenities. I highly recommend it.
Well maintained with good variety and quantity of equipment organized well enough to make it feel more open and less confined as other gyms.
Not surprised seeing only 2.something stars. Long story short: bad experience. They don't inform you of policy or price change, staff is not being trained well, don't disclose all the conditions and payments, sometimes it seems they dont even know what they are selling you. I'd suggest read very carefully everything you sign. What else I "liked" about them? Well, it's always "someone else's fault", and usually a person "who's not with them any more".
If you look at all the one stars given here and read them, you will see a pattern of what this place is like! Management really nice to you until you join, they walk past you like they don't even know you, the same goes for the staff and trainers. They'll will definitely take your money. Everyone is so rude and unfriendly, The environment does not match the monthly fee expectation, it is toxic!
They claim to have nice and clean everything, wow have you been in the showers? Dirty towels everywhere on the ground, not very sanitary. The list of problems goes on. I know no one is perfect, but you are seeking that claim online and when trying to get people to sign up for your gym. It just doesn't measure up! Don't waste your money if you're looking for a clean friendly gym, this is far from it!
Just moved here & we've been shopping gyms in the area. After feeling very unsatisfied with our findings, we walkin today & within the first 15 minutes we were there, we could see a very professional facility. We were warmly greeted at the front desk and then Jill from sales gave us the complete tour of the facility & answered all of our questions. They have multiple class rooms for cycle, yoga, and other classes, lots of equipment, pool, basketball, spa, & cafe. We are very excited that this gym will be our home away from home lol.
24-hours fitness, locker room towels, indoor/outdoor pools, sauna, spa, adult monkey bars, renovated everything, flexible and available childcare, tons of other perks including the ability to visit any LTF facility nationally. This is the best standardized sports/health facility; there may be some boutique locations that are competitive, but they will not have multi-state locations. The price is reasonable considering all of the amenities including onsite cafe, grooming, etc. You can't pay to get results though, that's on you. We enjoy working out here. LTF is the premium brand in the sports/fitness market.
I gave it a one only because I cant give no stars. NEVER GET A CONTRACT or a monthly membership. They are all nice once you get a contract with them but when you bring them evidence of reason to cancel they wont.
NEVER bring you children here. The place is not cleaned properly and they have no desire to do anything about it. My daughter has gotten ill the last 4 times in a row that i have taken her to the gym with me. The place is not clean and they care very little about the people that go to the gym and pay there outrageous fees.
I have had a terrible experience with Lifetime Allen. I have been going to Lifetime for 6 years and never had an issue until recently. I understand that all buildings and facilities need constant upkeep. This location however, was not updating equipment or the facility, they did a complete remodel. The remodeling is extremely disruptive so I decided to cancel my membership. I have been trying to get into contact with the general manager, Destiny for months. I called her on May 18th and left a voicemail. I did not hear back from her. I went to the gym to talk to her but she was not there. I got her email from the gym and she finally called me. She told me to go online to cancel my membership but I was unsuccessful. After getting into contact with her again, she says that cancellation is not an option since I signed a contract for one year. I have been using lifetime on and off for 6 years and have never cancelled my contract. This time I was frustrated with the construction. If I was never able to cancel my contract, she should have never told me I am able to in the first place. The contract does not include that remodeling is going on and to pardon the mess temporarily. Had I known that, I would have never signed the contract from the beginning. I think the way they are handling the situation is completely unacceptable for a business.
I'm shocked on all the negative reviews on here! My husband and I go to lifetime four times a week. My husband also runs basketball camps through the Mavericks there in the summertime. Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. Bathroom area has always been very clean and fresh towels every time I walk in the door. This is not a low time fitness arena. You pay for what you get and I pay for good service. Good Job staff!
Great facility location with amazing staff! Everyone from front desk to trainers are there to make your visit there a good one. Not too crowded during peak hours also - I always am able to do whatever I need without waiting a second.
I normally just go to the Plano location but considering I was in the area I decided to come to this Location. BAD IDEA!!! Everything is too clumped together you can probably touch the person behind you. I came to do back at this location and while using the resistance machine, my attachment I was using was taken TWICE by 2 separate male trainers without asking if I using it and one CLEARLY saw me using it. At least the female trainers had the courtesy to ask. I don't know why they made the TRX area as big as they did and added as many squat/deadlift racks as they did when their other machines are deteriorating, old and rusty. If you can help it go to the Plano location and save yourself the bad experience.
