Solid cycle workout, no crunches just solid workout for those interested in traditional cycle classes.

The spin class at Ascent is absolutely first rate. Many spin classes at other studios are some version of a dance club and have you doing movements that you'd never attempt on a real bicycle -- i.e., spinning at 130 rpm, bouncing up and down on the handlebars, etc. I suppose that's fine if you're looking for a dance club. Ascent provides a serious and highly-focused training session that builds strength and endurance through wattage- and heart-rate based training. It was a tough work-out, but I loved the class and thought the instructor, Chava, was terrific. Can't wait to do it again next time I'm in town.

Ascent is the best spin studio in Houston. There's no dips, crunches, pushups, or tap backs on the bikes. There's a focus on power and interval training.

The bikes are awesome. They measure watts, rpm, power, and kcal burn. You're able to easily control the level of difficulty.

The instructors are badass!!!!!

I love this place- I may be biased; Ascent helped me to lose 30 pounds and add ~5 MPH to my rolling average. Then again, shouldn't I be partial?!! Ascent is a great spot for spinning/cycling training. It doesn't implore you to do pushups or other gimmicky things on the bike, and offers circuit training for strength, which is the appropriate way to do overall training without injury. There are stretching/rolling classes to keep you limber, and the trainers are all excellent. Karyn (the owner) has been a phenomenal help in my transformation, and the value is great; considering the benefit this place has had for my health and well being, the classes are well worth it. I wish I could give it 6 stars for being superlative. Seriously, try it.

This cycling gym is phenomenal! It is different than many of the other cycling gyms around Houston and is focused on improving your cycling skills to be a better road/mountain biker. The bike computers are probably the best in Houston! All the data on the computer can be synced up to a free app on your phone so you can see how you are improving each class. In front of the class there is a large screen and you are riding through different parts of the world, which keeps you engaged. You are able to see your virtual bike on the screen and where you are in relation to the class. You also wear a heart rate monitor and can see how your heart rate is throughout the class. Watching my heart rate has really helped me with my training! You can also see where you are at based on a color scheme, which makes class go by fast and keeps you competing with yourself.

The music is always great too! There are complimentary water bottles and towels to use as well.

The instructors are great and very friendly!

I recommend it to everyone!
