With there being sooo many gyms to choose from in the BCS area, you have to really check them all out to make sure not only where you are going to commit your money to but which one is best equipped to help achieve your personal fitness goals.
For my goals I wanted a places that was mainly classes so you have a staff that helps you pushes you and holds you accountable. So I checked out all the crossfire gyms in BCS and Orangetheory fitness.
After checking out all of them I was completely blown away by the staff. They always used my name, would check up on me and everyone else around me and had relationships with all the members in the place. By far and away the coaches at D1 are the best in the BCS.
Now the facility is a whole other beast. The full turf field is perfect for doing boot camp classes, speed and agility drills and pretty much everything you could possibly want to do. Next to the turf field are garage doors that they open all the time giving that crossfit sort of feel. Their weight equipment is the best in the BCS. They seriously have the quality of bench racks and squat racks that you would find at an NFL or college weight room.
So in the end, all the D1 staff are coaches, while some of the gyms like Orangetheory or Golds have a ton of staff memebers that are just sales people and that's their primary concern: making you their next sale. The D1 coaches were all energetic, personable and friendly and genuinely care about helping you achieve your fitness goals. The facility is the nicest in the BCS and it's not even close. The price for the unlimited classes of your choice are comparable to Orangetheory and most of the crossfit gyms. So after checking all of them out and experiencing my first boot camp with them today (which felt amazing to get completely smoked) I'm excited to say I've decided on a gym to sign up with starting in August and I'm happy to say I feel relived to know I picked the best staff and most equipped facility in D1.
EDIT: In the past five weeks of attending D1 bootcamp, I have now gone from 206 lbs. to now 187 lbs.
