This was my very first experience doing Jiu-Jitsu. I was pretty scared walking in but from the moment I walked through the door I was treated so kind and made to feel very comfortable. The instructor was great at helping me and teaching me in a way that felt safe to me. All of the people in the class were also very helpful and kind to a newcomer (and beginner). I would totally recommend trying out Artista!
Great place to train. The atmosphere is very friendly and professional. Welcoming to everyone and all skill levels. There are a lot of talented grapplers who are all gracious in helping us newbies learn.
My son has been going to Artista for about 18 months and I just joined a couple of months ago. The instruction is top notch and there are multiple instructions for each of the kids classes. There are great early morning and late evening offerings as well as weekend for those who have a 9-5 job. Not for the faint of heart but all of the students have been great to learn along side with.
I've moved a lot and trained at many different gyms and this is my favorite! Felix is super technical and an excellent teacher. This gym is lucky to have several instructors who are all awesome--Bernard who teaches nogi is also a fantastic teacher. If you're knew to BJJ Jordan teaches the fundamentals classes and does a great job of breaking concepts down for beginners. Mostly the community at this gym is great. It's a second family. It helps that the space itself is really nice and always very clean. If you're in the Nashville area and want a place to train definitely check out Artista.
As a father of 4, BJJ was a lifestyle sport we could really embrace as a family. Coach Felix is a top level instructor and Artista is affiliated with A.O.J, one of the best schools in the country. You can really tell a lot about a business by the attention to detail and responsiveness, the staff at Artista really work hard to help all students feel welcomed in a state of the art academy.
My daughter and I take from this studio. It's been excellent to see the discipline and fun they help their children students have. They strike the perfect balance of patience and high expectations while working with children. They clearly love the art that they are teaching, and pass that passion along to their students.
The adult classes are full of helpful experts that are happy to help beginners in their pursuit of taking up a new hobby.
I can't speak highly enough of this BJJ dojo.
My daughter Selene has been training there before she turned five. Artista really helped her open up and form camaraderie with other kids. She is feeling happier and more confident at school and also at everything else. Can't wait to have my son join the academy!
Felix and Val have built an incredible academy and fostered an even better community for Artista. Felix is a well balanced teacher and his only expectation is that you try to better yourself as a student. It doesn't matter if your goal is to compete and win medals, or if you're jumping into BJJ later in life and are trying to stay active while appreciating the Art, Felix will give you equal attention regardless of personal goals. All the members I have met are competitive, but supportive. If you ever have questions, someone is always happy to help. No one is there to mindlessly smash their opponents, they take the team mindset seriously.
Felix also has some incredible connections. He recently held a seminar with World Champions Gui Mendes and Tainan Dalpra, and in a few weeks, Liam Moss, another World Champion, will be a guest instructor. This is a top-tier academy.

Not only has it been great for my son, but it has challenged me also. Jiu-Jitsu in my opinion, teaches self-management and emotional regulation better than anything I have ever experienced. Coach Felix and his team are excellent examples of that and do a great job mentoring and modeling for the kids as well as adults.

It is a place of both respect and understanding in that everyone is there to learn . If you ever wanted to learn BJJ but felt apprehensive, I promise this is the place for you.

While traveling through Nashville on business, I took the opportunity to drop in on a Fundamentals class at Artista. Coach Felix and the entire dojo were very welcoming and rolled at an impressively high skill level. If I lived in Nashville, I would roll with Artista.

I have two sons, 8 and 10, and wanted somewhere that would teach the fundamentals of jiu jitsu to teach coordination, respect, etc. We tried a few different places and this one was by far the best. Coach Felix and Kevin are both great with the kids. They run a very disciplined class and teach complex movements in a very learnable way. I highly recommend this place.
