This gym/spa is still AWESOME! Always clean..and managed properly! I have a "Lifetime Membership" and have been planning to start working out again soon! I gotta get back to being in "BEAST MODE !!!"
I went to the Austin Peay highway location to renew my annual membership. This was a new location for me. The Poplar location had been closed. The new location was state of the art. All the gym equipment looked great. It varies in hours of business. I went when it was slow. The employees were friendly and professional. The employee that renewed my membership explained how the card worked to unlock the door.
I am writing this hoping that some other unsuspecting victim isn't taken by the schemes of this business. I lost $60 in hidden fees to this company.
I had a year gym membership at French Riviera Fitness Poplar location in Memphis, TN that renewed each month after the year was up. It was ONLY for that location. A year later it shuts down. Conveniently, there is a clause in the contract that says in case of location closing, gym membership gets transferred to another location within 15 miles or contract ends. So I call the location that is within 15 miles to see how to end my membership since a year had gone by and the location I was close to shut down. They say to call a third party gym payment company. I do. The lady was helpful and told me to send an email asking to end my contract. I do. I get a reply 5 days later. Apparently, whenever I end the gym membership it counts as "canceling" so I get charged $25 fee (It is in the contract). I also conveniently get a reply 5 days later which means that they have now received my request less than 30 days before the next charge so I get charged $19.98 for the next month even though I requested 31 days before I would have got charged. Then I also get charged a $15 Biannual Gym service fee that I would not have been charged had they processed the email when I sent it.
All of these charges were within the contract. And that my friends is how you get charged with hidden fees. Avoid French Riviera Fitness like the plague.
DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT GET A MEMBERSHIP WITH THESE CON ARTIST! This has been the worst gym experience ever! I signed up for a membership over a year ago with the gym on poplar and with NO NOTICE, the gym closed down and I was told my membership would transfer to the Austin Peay location that is more than 20 minutes from my home. I called to cancel my membership because there was no way that I could drive that far and I was told that I signed up for a two year membership- I WOULD NEVER!! I will make it my business to ensure these people stop scamming innocent people out of their money. I try to support local businesses as much as I can but in this case, planet fitness, LA fitness and the Kroc center are your best bet. STAY AWAY.

Cancellation Fees, Referrals, etc.
It's the best workout place I've been to so far here in Memphis plenty of Weights plenty of machines never overcrowded

They are super welcoming and helpful. The trainers are nice and make you feel comfortable. they make sure to know your name. Always ask if you had a good workout when you are leaving. I've only been apart of the gym for a week now and I'm so so happy with it. I've been apart of atc, planet fitness, well works, and you fit and never have I before met staff that were so kind.
