Coastal is an awesome gym-there are ample routes for every level, and the owners, staff, and climbers are always friendly and helpful. I love the community atmosphere, and the premium membership that offers 24 hour access is absolutely worth the extra $15. Whenever I finish a session I am always anxious to come back!
This place is great! Very inviting. Friendly folks all around. The climbs are thoughtful and challenging and the new problems go up very regularly. Absolutely worth it to have a membership here.
My job sends me all across North America. I've been to dozens of climbing gyms in the past year. These are the most interesting and fun bouldering routes I've climbed. 10/10. Definitely worth checking out.

Only place to climb in Charleston. I mean I guess James Island has a wall, but why bother when Coastal Climbing is around? Super friendly staff and people that climb here

Super expensive for the size and quality. Also have seen the owner argue with a gym member. Haven't been back and let my membership lapse because of that.

I've climbed at multiple gyms and crags throughout Colorado and the mid-west and am quite delighted with the quality of Coastal! The owners and route setters are clearly strong and knowledgable climbers as the routes are stellar. The ratings are on point and routes mimic what I climb outside. The walls are a bit shorter than what I'm use to, but I'm impressed with how the space is utilized (lots of sit starts). I most enjoy the overhang walls and traverse routes. To speak on the pricing, climbing is becoming extremely popular and Coastal prices are affordable and fair. I'm happy to contribute to a professionally run gym and to be part of the Charleston climbing community.
Decent facilities and frequently changing routes, but staff is pretty distant compared to other gyms. Also pricing is awful. Way more expensive than what you get, and contract terms are pretty scammy. Monthly price increased significantly after I had already signed a contract. Also, they require 30 days notice, so if you for example cancel on July 1, you have to pay for all of both July and August. Plus there are excessive initiation and cancellation fees. All of this is in the contract if you read it, but still usurious (a pound of flesh, if you will). They're obviously enjoying the monopoly they have in Charleston.
The climbing is well set and the routes are awesome. If you're looking for a place to get stronger, look no further!

Love this place! You can get a fantastic workout and have fun and the staff is great! Moved here and thought I had nowhere to climb...I'm a spoiled climber from out of town where there is bouldering and sport climbs around every corner, this place is amazing. Reminds me of home!
