Called in last month to cancel my membership and was told that it was done no problem. I noticed I was charged again in February but figured I must have missed the cutoff and that would be the last charge I would see. Until today they charged me for March, and when I called in they inform me they don't do over the phone transfers. So their employee over the phone directly lied to me telling me I wouldn't see anymore charges, just so I can pay another $80 for two months.

They offered me no refund and still refuse to let you cancel over the phone. Seems to me they do everything in their power to make it as difficult as possible for you to cancel your membership. Dishonest service, overpriced for outdated dirty equipment, uneducated employees. 24 Hour Fitness & Planet Fitness are not only cheaper monthly, but have much cleaner facilities and more professional staffs.

Pool and hot tub always clean as well as the women's locker room and showers. Large selection of workout equipment!

This gym is good overall. Great variety of gym equipment. The staff was friendly. The facility was clean and well maintained. I would of given them five stars if they had WiFi.

Started going here after they closed the Milwaukie location. Not a big fan of the area but the staff here are top notch, very friendly and personable. It would be nice to get updated equipment on a few pieces but great place to workout.

Great gym but it's way too far for me to drive so I ride the bus......

Really tired of not being able to work out after 8 pm on the weekends. Decent gym just with unkept equipment and long wait times for maintenance

Want to cancel? Oh sure come in only during normal work hours or mail the corporate office. Let me take a day off to cancel my stupid memebership when half your stuff is broken. Trash gym, even worse policies.

I enjoy it. Swimming. Jacuzzi.

Above average gym. Front desk is friendly and attentive. Often have extra racquets, balls, and basketballs for you. They updated my membership to save me a little money. Restrooms are clean. Equipment is up to date and well maintained. Clean pool. Only negative is running out of paper towels in the mens room. Otherwise it's everything a gym should be.

Poor management and too many locker break ins. Members no longer allowed to use functional training area only trainers. Last straw for me I canceled my membership today. I was a member there for 2 years and it was very poorly managed for all but the last 6 months. The new management was definitely trying and you could see his efforts but the staff seem to not all be on the same page. Especially with the trainers who seem rouge. I was told by staff I was welcome to use the functional training area but trainers and clients have priority which is totally understandable. I make sure I am out of their way and always clean up after my workout. But the trainers we're repeatedly making their own signs and hanging them all over the walls which stated that area was for their clients ONLY. But nobody ever adhered to there signs as we are told we can be there. The trainers kept moving the partition ropes t make the entrance smaller and smaller. Finally the last straw was when the rouge trainers closed the entrance to the point you had to enter walking sideways and strung a clothes line of a half dozen bright yellow Microsoft word printed signs that now stated TRAINERS ONLY. I went to the front desk and asked for management which none was there so I explained what's been going on. I asked how can two groups of people both employed by the gym we're saying complete opposite things. He said he didn't know why they keep putting these signs up and I could use the area. I asked if he understood how confusing this was and why he would't got take those signs down. His answer because the trainers "kinda do their own thing and don't want us in there".
I quit that next day.

This has got to be one of the worst chains of gyms in Oregon. They pressure you to sign a membership agreement, but read the fine print - Under their 'Terms and Conditions' section, one of the first terms states that they "reserve the right to change any terms or conditions without notice, effective upon their posting". And that's exactly what they do. After being dissatisfied for multiple reasons with LA Fitness, I called their membership line to cancel, but they won't allow members to do that. The member service representative said that all cancellations must be made in person at one of their locations. Wow, really?? Of course upon arriving, the member service representative not only is reluctant to cancel service, but tries upselling my membership. After insisting upon cancelling, I was finally free. Trust me - DON'T SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY! Their business practices are not consumer friendly!

The best way I can sum up this location is "let down". The equipment at this location is older than any of the other LA Fitness portland gyms i have been to and in general feels older and less updated. The treadmills are old, TVs are mounted on the ceilings instead of on the exercise equipment, lights are dimmer, and there is a serious deficit of Woodway treadmills. I now live across the street from this location, and I was excited to be walking (instead of driving) distance to the gym. I was so let down my first time going, that I might just keep my membership at one of the other clubs. If this gym cost less than the other clubs, I would be happy to pay a cheaper fee. But to pay the same amount for an experience that is vastly different seems like a rip off.

I know this is a corporate issue and has nothing to do with the staff of this location, so I will send this off to them as well. The staff is super kind and the facilities are clean.

Horrible Experience!! Went by today to check out because have not been happy with current gym Mall 205 24 Hour Fitness. I asked at the front reception desk if I could do a Trial to check the gym out. The manager who then greets me rudely asks in an accusing tone like I am trying to rip the gym off if I live nearby the gym. I should have left at that point rather than continue horrible treatment by this manager to simply check the gym out for the day to see if I would want to switch my membership. Horrible gym and people who work there.

Always clean and friendly staff but could use with better features now common amongst chain gyms. But it's cheap.

I enjoy going to this gym. The gym is clean, safe, and relaxing. The only thing I don't like is that the pool is always full when I go. I often end up not using the pool after waiting 30 minutes for someone to leave. Normally 2-3 people per lane with no time limits set. Overall, I wouldn't pick a different gym!

The gym is well equipped, clean, and the staff are friendly. I'd give them 5 stars except there are no classes before 8:30am. My friends and I work and would love to attend yoga, pilates and cycling at 6am like the other LA Fitness clubs offer. I've called and asked the class manager if this can be accommodated here but was given a "I'll ask corporate" response with no follow up and no changes. Please provide morning classes for the working class.

while i agree with other reviewers that the pool experience can be iffy...sometimes there are high school kids that horseplay and get in the lanes and you have to tell them to be respectful. Most swimmers do use logic, courtesy and respect still. Those of us who use the pool for water aerobics, stretching, or combinations of water workouts for either rehabilitation or strength building and for those of us who aren't fast swimmers appreciate the more relaxed environment. The Mt. Scott Community Center makes us slow swimmers or combo exercisers feel like we don't belong there. I, personally, have done water aerobics and lap swimming at at least 10 pools in Portland and this is still one of the nicest pools in the inner metro area.

My favorite LA in Portland. Very roomy and no second floor like other ones. Everything is spread out so even when there is lots of people, its not crowded. Equipment is not old like at other clubs, but not brand new either.

This is basically where I changed my whole body.
Best gym ever.

I like the layout of this gym a lot. I use a majority of the cardio machines and the sauna. I think it's clean and nice. Around 9-10am it seems to be busy on occasion and Sunday around 645-7 it can be busy too bc they close at 8pm.

October 24, 2017 04:16

UPDATE 03/17/17: They finally replaced all the cable machines! Giving them 4 starts. Some if the sink still don't have warm water and I haven't had a chance to look at the other machines to see if they've been given maintenance.

Staff is nice, but their equipment is not well maintained. I regularly find loose bolts. Most of their cable machines haven't had any cables since before January! That's a total of 8 or more stations that have been down for months on end with no clear answer if when they are fixing them. The hot water in the restroom sinks is turned off. How much more does it cost to have warm water to wash my hands with? You'd think they would want to keep it in good shape so we keep coming back. I am going to be switching to a different gym.

The pool experience is VERY iffy. Sometimes you can have a good experience, but I've never had so many awful pool experiences at a gym before. There are basically no rules...people will jump in your lane, cut in front of you, swim at you, run into you, etc. We've complained to them online but they didn't address it at all. So I've basically given up on swimming after doing so for about a dozen years because it can be so stressful, obnoxious and infuriating. The rest of the gym is solid and fairly priced with lots of good options. Basically...if you're a swimmer, stay away - go to Mt. Scott Community Center where it's beautiful and has a typical swimming culture with rules and norms. If you are going for everything else, I think it's a good spot.
