This gym has one unique feature that makes it better than any other gym in Portland -- an incredible set of trainers and staff who are all dedicated to making your training as efficient, effective, and pain free as possible. 24 Hour, LA Fitness, and Ballys might have more treadmills and weight benches, but you don't need that when you have one on one personal training with Chris (the owner) or one of the other incredible trainers here. By training at A'la Carte you can get real help building muscle, losing weight, and reducing chronic pain -- even if you're already an athlete or have been training for a long time, it always helps to have a fresh set of eyes and a knowledgeable trainer with new ideas and techniques to improve your fitness.

From a personal standpoint, Chris has fundamentally changed the amount of pain I had in my knees and hips from years of basketball, running, and weightlifting. Having trained with him for the last 6 months or so, I feel stronger, healthier, and as close to pain free as I think I will ever be. I think that's some pretty amazing value, especially considering the fact that one on one training at A'la Carte is much more affordable than the same thing at a larger gym.

A la carte fitness is fantastic. I'm a sub-3 hr marathoner with a relatively rigorous daily routine- Chris showed me how to keep that same intensity while cutting my workout from 2 hours to just 1. His high intensity interval training is awesome. Great facility. Friendly staff. Pretty much everything you'd want out of a gym.

A'la Carte Fitness Trainers are Professional and Knowledgeable. Neal is an Awesome Trainer! He is not just a fitness trainer, he knows a lot about nutrition, and is very concerned for your overall health. This gym is also equipped a Chiropractor named Dr. Todd. Who is interested for your body to function at it's full potential PAIN FREE. You will love the environment! It is a clean gym with inspiring trainers who listen to your personal goals and help you achieve them.

This is a GREAT gym! It's not as intimidating as larger gyms. Its smaller, but has everything you need for various workouts. You get EXPERT training and nutrition advice from the trainers (Neal and Chris) and sports Chiropractor (Dr. Todd). I have been working out with Neal for almost 3 years. He is the best!!! If you are willing to put in the work, you WILL be in the best shape of your life!

I've been training with Chris at a la carte fitness for over a year now and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trainer who is knowledgeable, affordable and fun! The gym is cool and clean. A great alternative to a big box gym!
