Although I had looked at pictures online prior to attending class, my expectations were far from the reality. The studio is tiny, but elegant and equipped. Katherine has set up the space to be free of distractions, clutter, or any sense of 'business,' for that matter, and instead has created a true haven for yogis to escape the hustle of the city.
The studio is brand new and evidently in the process of building a client base. There were three of us in the studio, including Katherine (owner and instructor) on my first day. But rather than feeling awkward or anticipating class to be cancelled due to the small number of clients, Katherine lead the two of us through an intensive hour-long practice. During her class, she remained warm, generous and welcoming- offering equipment (yoga blocks) and bringing a blanket my way so as to cushion my ungraceful face-plant out of side-crow. Her hospitality as well as clear knowledge of yoga instruction made my first experience unforgettable.
This is about as small-business as a small business can get, but Katherine has really created something special that I am excited to support wholly. Take advantage of the 'first week free' deal and experience this tiny Portland gem for yourself!
