If you are looking for a supportive, inspiring, and clean fitness experience, Rivet Athletic Club is the place to go. When I joined this fitness facility about a month and a half ago, I immediately noticed all the small touches that the owners Suzi and Robert have added, including cell phone chargers (BOTH iPhone and Android) in the storage cubbies, an assortment of beauty products near the shower area (including lotion, hair styling creams, and more), as well as feminine products, hair ties, and hair dryers in the bathrooms. They have a children's play area too.
But what really stood out to me, was the extremely supportive, welcoming, and non-judgmental attitude of both them, the trainers, and even the other gym-goers. The very first moment I walked into the gym I was asked my name by the trainer around at the time. The next time I walked through the doors about three days later, the same trainer was there and he greeted me warmly, "Hello Talia, how are you today?" I was very surprised that after meeting me very briefly he had remembered my name. The whole experience has been this way though because the people really care about you and your progress.
On the fitness side of things, you will find no shortage of inspiration from those who have long been riding the crossfit train or those who just decided to give it a try. The workouts are super customizable so you can truly get a workout that feels right for you and helps you achieve your specific goals.
One of my favorite things about the gym (and honestly the reason I decided to join this gym over others I was looking at) was that they have a body scanner and their current promotional deal comes with two included scans - one for when you first start and one for when your 30-day promo trial ends. I've struggled a lot in the past with sticking to a routine simply because I'm not sure if I'm getting results.
At the start of this experience, my goal was not necessarily to lose weight but to tone my body and create new muscle. I committed myself to 1 hour of biking every day (work commute) and the Fit30 crossfit class M-F. At the end of my first 30 days, I definitely felt stronger but I'd stepped on the scale a few times and noticed that my weight had gone up slightly, not down. I was nervous to go into the body scan because I was afraid I wouldn't like my results. However, I could not have been happier: I had lost 5 lbs of fat and gained 5 lbs of muscle in 30 days alone. I was extremely proud and have since become a big believer in body scans because they help you understand the true progress that you're making.
This experience was topped off by the fact that the owners of the gym went out of their way to congratulate me on the results and encourage me to keep making progress.
An truly amazing gym that I would recommend for anyone with fitness goals.
