I can not speak highly enough about my experience with Coach Bootsie and Josh at training for Warriors. As someone who has no experience with weight lifting or exercise programs they create a body positive, motivational and no shame environment to work on your goals. If you are someone who is intimidated by a typical gym setting, have a difficult time sticking to an exercise regime, or experienced ANY injuries in the past give training warriors a try

This place truly brings out the warrior in everyone. You might have a pre-conceived notion about what it takes to be a warrior, but here you will find out what that means to YOU. I've never been involved with such an attentive, helpful, positive, enthusiastic, hard-working group of people just trying to make their lives better. From no experience, to the very experienced this place can meet everyone's needs. Wonderful spotless facilities; welcoming, friendly, experienced coaches and an environment that keeps you stoked to be fit! This place will help you get healthy, and square away any issues you might have in your form, whether it's sprinting or your barbell deadlift, with an emphasis doing it safely. Wonderful variety in the group classes, dedicated staff to help you meet your goals! Loads of high fives, smiles on everyone's faces, and lots of heavy lifting! I don't see my place going anywhere else for a very long time.

If you just walk by this place (which is easy enough, given its location), you could easily think it's "just another crossfit gym" but you'd be so wrong! This is a true community gym space; I've never seen so many people with different body types and fitness backgrounds working out together. My girlfriend and I were looking for a place where we could work out together and I was skeptical any 'group class' approach would work since we have different goals (she's pretty new to gyms and was scared of barbells!) but this place blew away my expectations. Small classes mean you get a ton of attention from expert coaches who can steer you to heavier loads if you're looking for strength/power or just help with your form if you're inexperienced or a little nervous. Just about everyone in the gym could not be nicer and I would strongly recommend it to anyone who knows they need to be more active but doesn't quite know enough to plan their own workouts yet!

Training for Warriors sounded like a hardcore, no-pain no-gain type place... Well, it is ANYTHING but that!

The coaches are friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. The culture at this gym is collaborative and FUN. There is a sense of COMMUNITY here!

At Training for Warriors, we work on mindset as much as we work on fitness, and that's good because the mental game can just be as tough to tackle sometimes.

I tried Training for Warriors for one month to see if was a good fit for me. Since then, I have not missed a week and I am still receiving the same amount of motivation from the coaches as if I was still a new member.

If you go anywhere else, you are wasting your money!

I've been sitting here for a few minutes wondering where to start. There are so many reasons why this gym is different than all the rest and all I can do is say why it's different for me.
First - they care. A LOT. Each of the coaches are attuned to your well being, your body and your progress. They are aware of your strengths and your limitations. That is to say, there isn't any room left for excuses.
Second - these are whole body workouts that change and challenge constantly and so, I'm always engaged. The class sizes are just right and I mean it when I say - everyone is everyday people.
Lastly - with these programs, form is everything and the coaches spend all of the necessary time with each person to make sure that they are getting it absolutely right.
I could go on. But honestly, Training for Warriors is all I can ask for in a fitness centre right now and it has changed me. I feel better all the time.

The owner of this gym is very friendly and relatable. The instructors are gentle but still push us hard. I like most that the planned exercises are creative. Every one of my workouts there so far has been interesting.

Great coaches, super enthusiastic and knowledgeable about health and fitness. I can tell they're invested in helping me succeed, and that's a great environment to be a part of. I came in not having lifted since middle school, and coaches Josh and Elizabeth's laser focus on proper technique was tremendously helpful for a beginner. Can't wait to return once I move closer!

I have been working with Josh for 3+ years. Between Skateboarding and BMX I am often injured. At 43 I have a harder time recovering than I did 20 years ago. Josh and crew know how to work with you to strengthen and heal without adding to the pain. In fact, I find I am out of pain and back at it quicker. TFW is a positive atmosphere where there is zero judgement and 100% support.

Fun functional fitness at it's best! At TFW they focus on proper form, have a supportive environment, and coach you to find personal motivation. After only a month of working out, I feel better than I have in years. The members are all ages (from 16 - 60+) and all fitness levels from beginners to power-lifters.

I am 44, significantly overweight, and out of shape from work and hobbies that involve sitting in front of the computer. I have been working with Janelle, who is incredibly caring and knowledgeable. She and the team have helped me to enjoy working out with no pain in spite of multiple past injuries. As a result, I have been able to start walking and gardening again, and overall it has helped immensely with my anxiety/depression.

The new renovations on this place are awesome. There are classes all day and a huge assortment of machines, and everything is much cleaner than any other gym I've been to in OR.

One of the most expensive Crossfit clones in the city, complete with high pressure, low respect sales process. They tout the value of "very small class sizes," which is a nice way of spinning, "not popular but expensive." In other words, the classes are not selling out, they're small because they're not full.

This place is great. Coaches are awesome - motivating, always checking for proper form, etc. Small groups mean lots of attention - they've helped me fix muscle imbalances or other problems I've had for years. Totally worth it.

Old-school gym; you're not going to find any fancy machines here! But don't let that scare you away; this place is beginner-friendly. Lots of full-body workouts (every day is leg day! and arm day and abs day and...) As a generally un-athletic person, this place has been great in building up not just my physical strength, but my experience and confidence too. Josh is very friendly and responsive; if you're not sure if this is the gym for you, give him a call or email and he'll walk you through the available classes and services.

Josh and his team are awesome. A friendly, upbeat atmosphere that is really focused on supporting learning and growth. I came in with lots of fear about injury, not knowing what I was doing, etc. and they were patient and understanding. I've been working out there for a year and have learned a TON! (And become a warrior : )

I loved working with Josh from the start because he has a real intelligence for how the body functions, and he insists that form be good before weight increase. At first, my goals were to look a little more fit, but what I noticed before anything was my everyday physical demands became far easier; bending over working in the garden, lifting boxes for a move, throwing my nieces and nephews around in play, pursuing physically demanding hobbies, etc. The biggest area of difference for me though was how my body felt in my massage practice. I had been doing massage for 6 years and figured I would need to quite sooner than later because I had pain constantly. After training with Josh for a year though, I saw enough of a difference to have full faith that I can continue my passion for as long as I desire.

I have now been training with Josh and his team for three years, and it has been one of the best investments I have made for my body, my mind and my business. I imagine I will continue training with them for years to come!

Gretchen and Josh and all the trainers are quality. I have never lifted heavy weights before going here because I was afraid of hurting myself so I stuck to yoga and moderate high rep weight routines. Now after 6 weeks of group classes at Form & Function my whole body is improved in strength but more surprising is how I have breakthroughs in my mobility and ability to move better as a direct result of the way we do the strength training. Yes you might know how to do many of the exercises that we do here but are you doing them at 6AM before work like you should? and are you doing it with proper form and stringing the exercises together in a logical manner? Knowing is one thing and for me having accountability to these great coaches and fellow students has been a whole new level for me. And now a lot more potential to keep growing.
