I decided to see Matt Walsh for a hip problem (form of hip impingement, FAI) after I ran a half marathon and was limping after. I'm an orthopedic PT and was previously "treating" myself (AKA being sloppy and not taking it that seriously). I only needed 2 appointments with Matt to learn a significant amount of information and to feel better. I was blown away by the evaluation which included the assessment (strength, range of motion, special testing, a running assessment, and more) and a thoroughly prescribed home program that I practiced before leaving. This clinic also has an insane treadmill set-up for assessment as well (...seriously one of a kind). The front desk was very sweet and professional. They give you a piece of paper that describes your insurance benefits which is a bonus as ultimately, the client is responsible to know their own benefits. Great clinic. Highly recommend for runners.

The therapists might be knowledgeable, but their front office is rude and incompetent, so it makes it not worth trying to deal with them.

Don't come here if you have health insurance!!!! I came and had to wait over 25 minutes to be seen after standing at the front desk for 15 minutes and not being acknowledged. After my appointment that was shortened due to the long wait, I received a bill for a higher rate than they charge people who walk in with no insurance!!!! I was completely ripped off getting a short appointment and over charged. Will never be back and will share my story with anyone who is considering coming here for treatment.

Most of the physical therapists I've seen (and there have been a number of them) try to encourage you to lower your expectations. They want to be done when you reach "80% of normal function" where "normal" seems to be what a sedentary 60 year old can do.
PACE isn't like that. When I came in the first time they asked me what my critical events were for the year and then put together a plan for me to make sure I was able to train and participate in those events.
They aren't just for athletes or exercise fanatics. They have also been great at handling my recovery from surgery. I've recently been recovering from shoulder surgery and Jon has been inspired about coming up with things I can do to for exercise as well as all the normal healing/post-surgery tasks I need to do.

I can't recommend them highly enough.

(this is the same review I've posted elsewhere for PACE, I am an actual person and have been going to PACE for all my physical therapy for 3 years now)

The wonderful staff at PACE on MLK in NE Portland got me back on my feet, literally! The staff's expansive knowledge, relevant PT techniques, and kind attitudes helped me fully recover from my Achilles tendon injury.

The therapy was difficult at times, challenging me and my body to improve and recover; but that is what I think makes this place great--not only was the treatment what I needed, but the spirit, support, and positivity of PACE, kept me motivated and looking forward to going to PT.

Anna Vaughn, the trained Physical Therapist that helped me, was reliably friendly and positive keeping me in goods spirits especially where I would have otherwise felt discouraged or frustrated. Her fantastic ability to recognize my specific needs and physical limits helped her to create a catered treatment plan for me. Thanks to Anna, Tyler (shadowing intern/great guy), and the rest of the friendly staff at PACE, I have gone from hobbling on crutches everyday to running miles whenever I get the chance.

With the support of PACE, I have become a much healthier, happier person. I am able get back to the things I love--running, surfing, skating, soccer, etc. I highly recommend PACE and even more specifically Physical Therapist Anna Vaughn! If you are considering PACE, stop deliberating and just go, they're the best!!

Competent physical therapy, but the service was poor. They couldnt't tell me how much it was going to cost per appointment at the time of my appointment. "An Insurance thing." I was told by the desk help. Then I waited 15 minutes while the PT - in plain sight - chatted with his friends. "Sorry, I forgot." he said dismissively.
