Fun, clean place with friendly people! Good focus on safety by accommodating mobility/injury/ability needs while still motivating and pushing you to improve and work harder. Great place to work out!

This is a top-notch training facility with the coaching staff and pedigree to match. If you want to lift correctly, grow stronger, and become part of a healthy, thriving community, look no further than Industrial Strength Gym.

In a group environment the coaching staff emphasizes proper form and functionality over the "numbers first" mindset found at some other gyms. They embrace their mantle as instructors and are very effective at teaching the fundamentals, helping students of all ages and skill levels grow physically resilient while avoiding injury.

I was fortunate to improve my barbell technique under the Private Coaching of Tony Gracia. He identified weaknesses in my posture and helped me understand the "why" behind each movement. The coaching I received continues to inform my approach to lifting, and my back squat, bench press, and dead lift feel more stable than ever.

This place is legit.

My son was home last December for Christmas leave. He is a rescue swimmer in the Navy and very keen on pushing his fitness levels. He wanted to find a local gym that we could visit on the fly and check out their training programs. I said great! He did a little research and quickly found this gym. It was Saturday the 28th. He emailed them and to our surprise, received a very prompt and encouraging reply within the hour. So drove over and met Tony, the owner. What a great guy! We were both impressed.

My son had another week before he was heading back to base. He wanted some personal one on one training to hone his weight lifting regiment. Tony promptly moved his schedule around to accommodate him. In those 2 sessions my son got his moneys worth getting his skills honed by Tony's coaching.

I myself promptly joined their kettle bell On Ramp class taught by Adam. He is equally competent! I've never done kettle bells before but now that I have graduated from that one month class, I'm looking forward to beginning ongoing kettle bell classes starting tomorrow.

I HIGHLY recommend Industrial Strength Gym for the person who is serious about one on one and well-taught and supervised group classes. Thank you Tony, Adam and Mira for creating the #1 local gym.

The staff here has been very accommodating. I do not have a lot of gym experience and they have done a great job at tailoring the exercises to everyone in class making in turn me feel comfortable and welcome.

I have been training at Industrial Strength for over 5 years. I am also a medical provider and refer a lot of my patients here as I absolutely trust the coaches ability to recognize limitations and move people beyond their barriers. Highly recommend them!

This gym, or should I say this community is amazing! I've never been around so many strong, kind, motivated people in my life! I train here and have worked with everyone. Their team is so incredibly knowledgable. Plus, they are passionately committed to proper movement and taking the time to correctly build strength, avoid injury, and build a strong lifestyle. Whether you're young or old (I've seen kids and folks in their 80s training) they work with every individual to help them meet their goals - whatever their goals may be.

On top of their expertise and commitment they've built a community of kind, caring people who encourage one another on their strength journey. It's common to hear people cheering each other on in classes or nominating one another to be featured on the Beastmode board on the gym wall. You always feel welcome and supported by everyone. And at a gym?!? I don't know about you, but this has not been my experience at other gyms (and I've been to a few).

The folks who own and run the gym, Mira and Tony, are truly the bees knees! They are just awesome people who'll send you flowers when you're sick, be in the front row cheering for you at your meet, and encourage and support you as you work towards your goals. They're just exceptional people.

I cannot recommend this gym enough. Whether you're looking for a place to train, take some classes, learn Jiu Jitsu (haven't tried yet, but it always looks fun) I doubt you'll find a better place to do it.

I've been a member of industrial strength (primarily for weightlifting) since February. I've trained in many other gyms and this has been my favorite by far. The gym is incredibly clean and aesthetically pleasing, with a wide variety of programming and training options, but it feels like a tight knit family. The owners and rest of the coaching staff are wonderful. I came to Industrial looking for a supportive fitness and weightlifting community, and that it exactly what I've found.

Training with Industrial has been more than finding a gym to throw on my lifters and get my workout in. Our weightlifting team has helped me to grow not only as a new lifter, but also as an individual. Prior to coming to Industrial, I was hesitant to compete in my first local meet and had put off signing up for multiple competitions. My coach and several of my rad new team mates helped me gain the skill and confidence to believe in myself and I had a great first meet experience in May.

I love lifting at Industrial with my new team mates. It is a great training environment, that focuses on quality of movement and longevity in the sport. The programming is well thought out, and makes room for both a team weightlifting environment and periods of individualization throughout training cycles. I have nothing but positive things to say about training here, and I would recommend it to anyone in the area looking to get stronger!

Relatively new to the gym but already feel great confidence it'll get me closer to my goals! The trainers are very knowledgable and friendly, the Strength and Conditioning class is a fun challenge, and the members are often consistently motivated and positive which goes great lengths in keeping me accountable to maintaining this terrific habit. Very glad to have found it!

I sought out Industrial Strength because they have StrongFirst certified coaches who could help me with preparation for an upcoming StrongFirst kettlebell course that I would like to complete. I have already screamed past previous PRs, feel more comfortable with my technique, and feel as though my goals have been heard in the 2 weeks and 5 sessions with my personal trainer, Holly. The group kettlebell class with Arryn has been awesome, as well! The crew at Industrial Strength keep workouts challenging, encourage personal and physical growth, yet never neglect to focus on safety and technique. For the first time in a while, I'm not in a gym riddled with peers who have numerous injuries and are still being encouraged to go heavier with sloppy form. They know what they are doing. Not only have the coaches been immensely helpful, but the community they have drawn in has been so welcoming. I am extremely happy with my decision to invest in Industrial Strength!

I travel over an hour 1-2x a week to train Jiu Jitsu at Industrial Strength. Excellent coaching and very friendly environment.

What a great gym. I spent 1 year here learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Coach Tony is such a wonderful and knowledgeable person. The atmosphere is very inviting, and the people that attend all their classes are very welcoming. People who may be on the fence about trying BJJ or attending a strength gym should give this place a try, you'll keep coming back.

Best equipment, amazing coaches and family-like atmosphere makes Industrial Strength Gym easily the best gym in Portland. Go here for Strength & Conditioning, Olympic weightlifting, Kettlebell, personal training, Kickboxing, BJJ - they have it all!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I love this gym. Here's why:

Knowledgeable Trainers: Form and safety are emphasized. Explanations are clear and questions encouraged. Small classes means they know me well enough to make sure I am being challenged while avoiding injury. I have gotten measurably stronger since I joined Industrial Strength and I credit it to the excellent training team.

Excellent Equipment: I feel spoiled by the quality and quantity of equipment at Industrial Strength. Everything is orderly and easy to find. The gym, bathrooms and shower are clean and all the little details accounted for (extra hair ties in the bathrooms).

Culture and Community: I love that during class, everyone cheers for each other. There's a healthy sense of competition, but that is never overshadowed by the shared desire to see your teammates get better. And new members are welcomed with the same enthusiasm.

I can't recommend Industrial Strength enough, and do often. I encourage you to check it out.

I've started doing jiu jitsu here with zero experience and the instructors have been awesome. This gym has a very inviting and friendly atmosphere.

Industrial Strength Gym is the best gym in Portland. The owners, Mira and Tony, are top of their craft -- offering individual training and classes. The classes have a team-like approach to them that I have never experienced before in a gym -- an amazing environment in which to train. And, my individual training with Mira has been incredible -- all of friends have seen a difference in me in a few short months.
