I have been a member for a year. I think this is sufficient time to get full experience. Things that are important to me may not be important to you, nonetheless; here they are:
- The facility is very well equipped. Enough equipment and stations to support large classes. The gym is very specious.
- CF & Weightlifting coaches are excellent. Knowledgeable, friendly and supportive.
- One membership includes CF classes, Olympic Lifting (separately coached 3/week) and Open Gym every day.
- The community is superb. Amazing group of people. Very supportive, welcoming and inclusive.
- The owner (John) is very involved in the business and community. Very refreshing.
- The gym is very clean.
- Parking is abundant and convenient.
- Membership is very reasonably priced.
- Post workout refreshments, protein and recovery drinks, meal prep available for purchase.
It is an excellent place to go and hit it hard after work (or before). I couldn't recommended more.
All of the coaches and trainers here are all very knowledgeable, helpful, and professional. The gym facilities are always clean and have everything you need to put in some real hard work. The atmosphere is always full of fun and motivation. When you visit, see John and he'll get you set up right away. Best gym in Portland to train for sure!
I've been going to this gym for six months with my girlfriend and our son. Classes are always challenging and fun. Several different coaches with different specialties like Olympic lifting. nutrition and James - proficient in small arms combat and Kabuki. Hes literally the best!
It's great place to hang out and get fit!
Les Schwab was jammed up next door and I wandered in. Was there just in time for one of Nick's classes. Awesome workout with a friendly group. If if lived in this area I would join.

We love everything about Rose City Barbell: the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and sincerely willing to help; the equipment is state of the art, brand new and very sophisticated; the club is clean and well organized.
Overall, this is such a friendly and inviting place. Let's face it, going to one of these clubs can be intimidating. Rose City Barbell has managed not only to eliminate the intimidating factor, moreover, they managed to make you feel home, comfortable in a very motivating environment.
I plan on going to Rose City Barbell often and take advantage of everything they offer to us. And believe me, they offer a lot of value to us.

The equipment and envirnoment here is a lifter and crossfitter's dream with top notch facilities, barbells and weights/platform/racks with an atmosphere that creates a family feel. Coaches and other team members here are so welcoming and encouraging willing to answer any questions you have. I commute from the east side and the drive is 100% worth it every time.
Finding a new gym was a daunting task for me. Rose City made the decision easy! One of the best gyms I have ever belonged to. With in a short amount of time I had new friends and looked forward to the gym everyday. The coaches are amazing and I couldn't ask to be part of a better 'family'!! You won't regret checking them out.

I started Crossfitting in May of 2016 and I can say that being new to the Crossfit world can be a scary experience. Without a doubt, joining Rose City Barbell changed my life and is one of the best things I did in 2016. From the very first day I walked into the box, I have felt extremely welcomed and supported by the coaches and the community. I have never seen anyone truly love their jobs as much as the owner, Nick Clancy, and both coaches, Nick Barto and Ajay Inslin. All three of them have coached me to be the best athlete that I can be and to learn new skills... pull-ups... that I never thought I could physically do. No matter what level you are at, the coaches will be there to help you scale any movement to find what works best for your body to ensure your safety!
I must say that we are extremely spoiled at Rose City Barbell. I have traveled to many boxes in California, Idaho and Washington since starting Crossfit and Rose City Barbell is in a class of its own. Rose City Barbell provides top of the line equipment for Crossfitters and weightlifters alike. (There are 3 platforms specifically designated for Olympic lifters and Power lifters) The box and equipment is always clean and ready for use. Rose City Barbell also offers a shower room, perfect for those who love the AM Rise and Grind, and 2 up kept bathrooms for member use.
I grew up dancing competitively and thrive in a class type atmosphere. I found my family in 5:30 AM class! What used to be the smallest class (who really wants to work out that early?) has become the largest class with the most regular attendance! We are all constantly cheering during the WOD's to motivate each other to push a little harder or to be a little faster than we were yesterday. The best part about Rose City Barbell is that it doesn't matter if you are the first person or the last person who finished. At the end of the WOD, we all put in the same work to complete the movements so we celebrate and congratulate each other. Obtaining my own PR's and watching everyone else hit their PR's as a family is an amazing experience. We are all in it to get better together!
