Let me start by talking about what this is *not*.

This is not a class full of grunting, sweating, spandex-covered guys flinging their kettlebells around. So, if you've thought, "I can't do kettlebells because I'm not that kind of person," relax. This is a totally low-key environment.

In fact, I was 85% sure kettlebells weren't good for my body, since I always had low back pain after using them. Plus, I have shoulder issues, so I've had a love/hate relationship with weights.

And then, I found Hellz Bellz. Here's what the workout is like:

All movements are done very precisely. And slowly. There is a LOT of attention to form, which means a lot of stopping and starting. Which is weird at first if you're used to a bootcamp-paced workout. But then, you find out you're still getting an awesome workout...it's just not as frenetic as what you're used to. It's like Pilates that way.

Dr. Carl is great. Since he's also a chiropractor (his office is next door,) he understands body mechanics. THIS IS A BIG DEAL.

Results-wise, I can tell I'm stronger (demanding yoga poses are way easier) and slightly more flexible. We're working on my flexibility. :)

Bottom line: Should you give it a try?

Hellz yes!

Last year I discovered the glories of kettlebell workouts. I've exercised regularly my entire adult life, but I HATE gyms. But I love kettlebells. You can get a great workout pretty quickly. In the roughly 9 months I've been at it - about 3 times/week (ideally...) - I've got much stronger and healthier. I sit at a desk all day and kettlebell's wide ranges of motion really help me unwind. The minor aches and pains of the desk-bound life have disappeared! So have my love-handles.

And I really like Carl, the owner/instructor. He's very knowledgeable about the exercises and about the body generally (his chiropractic practice is right next door). He's also fun, enthusiastic and supportive. The gym isn't very big but its nice, clean and full of all kinds of fun stuff - not just kettlebells but rings, pullies, battle ropes, a giant tire with big hammers and maces, and more. Carl is continually adding more stuff.

Finally I did some price comparisons and Hellz Bellz is very reasonably priced. I guess the downside is that it may not be open as often as some other gyms - but the other gyms aren't open as much as I'd expect them to be either. So check the schedules. If Hellz Bellz's hours work for you I highly recommend it.
