No dead lifts? This isn't a gym.. it's a place for people to say that they "worked out" and feel good about themselves.
For one year I had a Black Card membership, and went there just to use their Shiatsu massage chairs and their water massage beds. You cannot ask for more, for unlimited 24 hour access to those items, for only $20-something a month.
Went here to check it out before joining. They have very little free weight options which was disappointing. It was clean and not crowded. ( 5pm). I joined 24hour fitness instead. They are 30% more expensive with better amenities and Beau coup free weights available. For 15 bucks a month it's not bad, just not for me

The place is good for working out. The reason I leave to stars is because when we went to end our membership they charged us for the next month, we then called and they said that they had no record of is cancelling (even though I signed the paperwork and talked to the lady for 10 minutes). We then cancelled for a second time and they charged us a maintenance fee of $30. That was the whole reason for cancelling was to avoid the maintenance fees. Unfortunately it was not a good experience. Staff are usually very friendly though.

I wanted to try this gym. But just to hear that I needed to pay 20.00 dollars. This was for one day trial. I was told that I will get the money back if I will enjoy the gym. Might as well just pay for one month for 10 dollars. They should offer a free day pass to explore the gym or a reasonable fee will be good too.

I like this gym. It's always clean, the staff is professional and friendly. The clientele here seems to be a mixed bag. Even though the Planet Fitness "rules" say no meat head types, there are still some D-bags who work out here. They seem to show up later around noon. If you show up earlier the crowd seems better in my opinion, people who actually work out and don't hog machines while looking at their phones whe whole time...
Pros:
- Open 24 Hours. Really nice if you work late hours or have a schedule that is thrown off in the midst of every day life.
- Awesome Staff. Greg, Jennifer, Isiah, Gilbert, Charity, and the young man with the blonde dapper haircut are always extremely friendly and helpful. They really set a good vibe for the place.
- Adequate variety of equipment. While the gym focuses primarily on machine workouts, there is a fair set of dumbbells and miscellaneous equipment to supplement this, such as : resistance bands, stability balls, pull up/chin up bars.
- Free exercise classes. Although I do not attend these classes myself, they do seem to have increased lately with Jennifer being the trainer (props to Jennifer). I will say the classes seem to mostly be targeted at women who are new to exercise nethertheless, makes for a great addition to the gym. You cannot beat free knowledge!
- PRICE! You simply cannot beat the convenience and price of this gym for $10 a month.
Cons:
- Basic - Very entry level gym aimed at beginners in the fitness world. While this is nice for starting out, you will require more equipment down the road to increase your workout potential.
- Peak Hours. During the peak hours it is virtually impossible to get an effective workout in as most equipment is being used by other patrons. This is easily remedied by coming at an earlier or later time, which I thankfully have the luxury of choosing. However, if you need to get a workout in during this time that involves resistance training, I would not recommend this gym.
TL:DR
Pros:
Awesome staff, convenient hours and location, good price, decent selection of equipment, free training.
Cons:
Basic , busy peak hours.
The equipment is kept up well, however they call it a judgment free zone but they do judge you based on your size and your water bottle, I normally carry a 64 ounce jug, which I will drink almost all of when I have a good workout. I was told it was too big and would have to put it in a locker or back in my car. I was also watched like I was a criminal, mind you I am not a grunter or their definition of a"lunk" which by the way is a judgemental term in itself. I found d that once I was out of site of the one staff member in particular I started to feel comfortable and got a good solid workout in.
I used to have a membership but had to cancel. Went in today to talk about renewing my membership for their low cost deal. Did not know they now require a credit card as well as a bank card. So I told the lady unfortunately I would have to pass today since I just maxed out my credit card on my brother's funeral. She said "sorry for your loss, see you in another life." I am extremely apalled by her comment. So rude and uncalled for. Other than poor customer service today I have never had a problem in the past. I will probably look elsewhere now as her comment has me utterly disgusted.
Been coming here for a few years. It's gotten very crowded with teenagers often occupying machines taking photos and texting. Machines are clean but prolly maintained. Water machine was broken for an unacceptable account of time. Most staff are nice, others rude. One staff member confronted me in dressing room for not waiting check-in. I waited 3 minutes. You get what you pay for here. If you're serious about getting fit, go somewhere else with less hassle.
You have to admit that they are a great deal for the price. There are a couple of things that are really annoying that I wish they would do something about. The first is that the evening setting sun reflects off the car windows outside blinding everyone on the treadmills, bicycles, and the ellipticals. They really could use some shades or blinds for that time of day. The second one is that the women's locker room is absolutely freezing. It's been that way since they first opened, and I just don't understand why they don't do something about it. It's like trying to change your clothes in a meat locker. It's still a very good place to work out, and I will continue to be a regular.
I workout at Planet Fitness fine days a week and love the vibe here. There is no pressure to be great at using the machines and you feel left to do your thing, which is great! The staff are friendly and have readily helped me when I couldn't get my locker open because I entered the wrong code! The equipment is a great variety and there are a lot of stair machines and treadmills so you never feel like you can't get your cardio in!

Place is nice and very clean. No squat racks. Dumbbells do not go past 60 lbs
Wow. What a bad experience. The people at the front desk "Gilbert" and "Jennifer" were extremely rude and abrasive. Especially Gilbert - what's your problem, kid? Starts an argument with us and has absolutely no customer service skills or manners. He came out of nowhere and began to argue with us about an issue we were having checking in as a guest. MANAGER - you need to hire better people or at least have a talk we these two. We've been all over the country to 50+ planet fitness locations - this was by far the worst experience. Avoid!
The shift lead with curly hair was extremely rude. Usually the front desk people are nice and respectful but this guy was something else. I brought a guest to workout with me. They didn't bring anything but their phone with them, so when I asked him how we checked in he asked for her ID and I said she didn't have anything with her and he said "Wait, why doesn't she have an ID?" I told him she left it at home and he didn't believe me so he asked her repeatedly had a line building up so I told him he should help the people who just needed to check in. He did. And was extremely rude again, to some Hispanic women whom he couldn't understand. He yelled saying "i can't understand you!" And then continued checking them in. I got really irritated and left because I no longer wanted to be ridiculed.
Seems smaller than the Beaverton one but still for how much you pay, is a really good deal
Good gym, clean with showers, classes and trainers. Great prices. Tanning.
Good luck cancelling. These snakes have been fraudulently billing me for over a year and I've been fighting it. The worst.
Pedro was very rude and disrespectful.... Planet fitness is suppose to be judgement free yet everytime I came here with my family to work out Pedro was always looking at me laughing talking about me to the other workers.... I will as of today start going to 24 hour fitness and cancel with planet fitness due to the rude and disrespect attitude that I always receive from pedro me and my family of four will no longer be members of pf the judgement zone.... For the record Greg the night night is Amazing 100 percent genuine and one of the most awesome workers ever.
Wish they had one closer to my house. This place is clean and people are no judgemental...
Nothing bets the rates charged at PF for a 24 hr gym. For someone wanting to work out on a budget, this is a decent place to go, but if you work a non-traditional shift you're missing out on a bulk of what PF has to offer. Over the past 4 months of membership, there's been several things that have come up that are sub-par that prevent me from rating this gym higher than 2 stars:
1) There are also no classes available late at night (after 8PM), overnights, or on the weekends, which seems odd since this is a 24 hour facility & because of that, I'm assuming a fair number of folks, like myself, work non-traditional work hours and can't attend a M-Th 9-7 or 12-5 (on Fridays) class schedule.
2) Late night/overnight staffing is not adequate. The overnight staff spends a lot of time away from the desk cleaning. This means sometimes I've had to find them if I want to sign in or use my black card membership services. I've also had to wait for up to 15 min on multiple occasions for them to be able to help me due to a backlog of folks needing help, needing to check in, etc. It's not the staff's fault, management should hire a dedicated front desk attendant for overnight. At the very least as someone to be security for weirdos that walk in off the street at night. Management- I get it that there are less people working out overnight, but it shouldn't mean that the people working out overnight get ignored nor should the safety of people in the building.
3) I've asked numerous late evening/overnight staff about when the bagels and pizzas arrive on those days of the month, and all the overnight/late night staff I talk to had no idea because they don't work those days/shifts....wouldn't management leave a binder of info for staff to use for just such an occasion?
On a side note, why not offer healthier options like fruit day, granola bar day, veggie day, soup day, or something like that?
4) It seems like shift change staff communication in general is lacking. In addition to the food example above, when I turned in a frayed rope used for lat pull downs to 1 staff member, the next staff member put the frayed rope right back out onto the floor for use. I turned it back in explaining that the rope is frayed & should not be used.
5) Staff have told me that they rely on gym members to inform them about equipment that's malfunctioning vs. proactively checking equipment for frayed cables, ropes, seat adjustment bars needing lubrication, etc. I also suspect that the short staffing is to blame for this practice, which again falls on management & perhaps general PF business practices vs. solely on the employees.
6) Repair Issues Impact the Black Card Membership:
I have the Black Card membership, and at this location for the past 2 months one of the 2 massage chairs has been technically out of order, but they haven't actually taken it out of service... which further deteriorates its condition. The machine groans and screeches when used....clearly metal is grinding up against metal, which is unpleasant to listen to if someone is using the bad chair. The staff know about this chair needing repair, but this PF location can't do anything about it because the company they order from has massive delays. The TV in the massage chair room was also out of commission for about a month. The trampoline was damaged (meaning see-through in the middle and a clear hazard) and that took weeks to be fixed.
7) Instead of having small individual TV's that the user can change to programming they enjoy they have 6 fixed channels to watch. None of which I enjoy. I therefore only use their cardio equipment for about 5-10 min before becoming too bored to continue the monotony.
The staff at all Planet Fitness locations I've frequented are on point - but these guys are great. Super friendly and prompt. The machines are well maintained and clean. I'd say that it might be a 'little' cramped, and the layout of the space could have better flow. But not bad!
I really enjoy this gym but hate the whole "unlimited guest" every time you bring in a guest they have to bring their i.d and go thru this whole long process. Also if you bring someone under the age of 18 and you are not their parent they are not allowed in even if you are related to them and they are accompanied by a parent!! Besides the whole guest situation the gym is great!
The 30 minute workout is an awesome idea and when everyone is following the pattern it's like you have a room of workout buddies. When someone isn't though, the staff does nothing despite walking through there multiple times. Then I get to be the awkward one having to tell men twice my size to stop hogging the machines.
I enjoy the hydro massage and massage chairs, the total body enhancement is something similar to what my chiropractor used so I feel like it's science based at least? It is a surprising workout.
I hate that all the tanning beds are standing beds. They should at least offer some variety. The last thing I want to do after working out is stand for 10 minutes in a hot bubble with inadequate fans. I've also had to, multiple times, get redressed and go back to the front desk because they forgot to start the bed. The beds at the Salem location are amazing, not sure why this location decided to massively downgrade.
Also, after going to the Salem location, I'd highly suggest this location upgrade to the computerized check in system. Fumbling with clipboards and wasting paper seems silly if other PF locations have better tech.
Overall the gym is pretty good. If I had not seen the clearly superior Salem location it probably would have got 4 stars.
I like the location and equipment offered but their staff needs to be more knowledgeable. My "trainer" did not know what to offer me, he clearly didn't know much about workouts and didn't seem qualified at all.
Great place if you have personal goals of getting into shape and do not want to feel the pressure of having to buy a contract. This is a JUDGEMENT FREE ZONE.
So enjoy.
