First impression review - 1/8/2020 - Southland Plaza Toledo OH
I completed the membership registration online for the 20 cents down, $10/mo, $39/annual fee event. If you do it online, it shows the complete breakdown with taxes, which come out to about a dollar an extra month.
First thoughts on the outside, I think the facility could use some better parking lot lights or floodlights on the outside of the building. When I go early morning, it can feel spooky walking through the darkness of the lot into the facility. A simple addition here would greatly enhance the visual appearance. Especially considering the multiple abandoned buildings on the other side of the lot. Also, a simple makeover on the parking lot itself with some new pavement would help. Remember this, the entrance is on the side of the building facing the parking lot center and not towards the road - they should really try to have better signage indicating the front door area.
On the inside, I found everything more than acceptable. Staff were alert and friendly, taking my picture and assigned a cardswipe in a matter of minutes before I'm on my way. When I go typically between 5am-7am, it's usually only a handful of folks so plenty of space to do your own thing without being next to someone. Equipment all worked and there were helpful placards beside most machines indicating different workouts you could do if you feel lost as to how to operate certain things. I have not tried any personal workouts or signed for any classes so no comment on those.
Restrooms and locker rooms were also more than fine. The areas such as the showers are large enough to feel comfortable in the stalls and the layout means you have privacy when you need it.
Overally, I would give the facility itself a 5/5 for your basic needs (treadmill, elliptical, gentle core/abs workout, etc) and a 4/5 when it comes to more of the "safety" feeling just from appearances on the outside. If you want a more hardcore workout with large weights, then this wouldn't be the place for you. Good value.

This location is great. While it is busy, I never feel like I am fighting or waiting for equipment. The staff has always been friendly and I have been a patron since they opened many years ago. I truly appreciate the family oriented staff at this location. Can tell that the GM is great.

They need to be investigated by the Attorney General's office for fraud. Their billing practices are unethical.

Disappointed with how unconcerned the staff was after receiving a chemical burn from the tanning bed. They were adamant that it was not their cleaner by repeatedly saying "that's not my fault" and "I dont know what to tell you". Either way... a chemical burn or an allergic reaction to the cleaner or left over lotion from not being cleaned properly, is a result of a lazy employee.
There was zero empathy, urgency, or decency in this interaction.

Unfriendly staff that seemed like they don't want you there. Probably the worst planet fitness in the area. I'd avoid coming here if you want a good experience.. the only thing they have going for them is the equipment but you can find better versions of that at any other planet fitness. Too bad you can't rate this ratchet gym lower than 1 star.

Facilities are nice and membership is affordable, but staff lacks a general professionalism. I canceled my membership in December and found out 2 months later that I was still being charged for membership. When confronted about the situation I was told that there was nothing they could do. It was very frustrating to find out there was no policy in place for the unducated performance of one of their employees in canceling my membership.

Planet fitness on Glendale is a very nice organized gym and Eddy one of the coworkers is such an amazing sweet guy, love walking in and seeing his face, Great customer service!

OMG THIS PLACE IS THE BOMB! The Supervisor there (Mary Delaney) is the nicest and most cordial person I have ever met. Every time I walk into the facility and she is at the front desk she is smiling and greets me very enthusiastically. I could not ask for a better experience than what I get with Mary Delaney! If I had to guess I would assume she loves her job because of how happy she always is! I will never work out at any other place other than PF on Glendale because of the amazing experience Mary creates everyday!

Wouldn't recommend this place I wanted to pay a year in advance for their top membership they wouldn't let me they must not want loyal customers I joined a better club they gladly took my money!!

Really Bad stuff..been ingnore alot times.every time im working out..the person clean gets in my way..im paying 21$ every month for this..they need a good stuff after after 12 pm noon..cuz they suck

I used to think that Planet Fitness would not be all that great because it was very inexpensive. Now I know that Planet Fitness in South Toledo (@ Southland Shopping Center) is FANTASTIC!!! I know that it is managed well because it is so incredible in every way. It is very clean, and the staff is simply The Best! Everyone is extremely friendly...very nice and accommodating. This facility is definitely worth joining.!! I love it there. Now I am super excited to work out and to get in better shape because of everyone at Planet Fitness in South Toledo (@Southland)... Super Price... Super People...Super Clean...Super Awesomeness!!!

On more than one occassion, the staff have ignored me while I'm standing at the desk to ask a question or use the massage center. They see me and turn their heads. There are usuallu more than one person standing around (more like 5). The ladies restrooms are always dirty. The locker room part is usually clean. The facility itself is clean and I never have an issue getting a machine.
