I have known about yoga for many years. I'd heard great things about it, and I just shrugged it off. I was more into boxing or Insanity or P90X type stuff because of the amazing and fast results. But, after my last go round with Insanity I realized how much I really didn't enjoy the pain of it all. My joints screamed at me every time I did it, and yeah I looked great but felt miserable. I have watched my best friend and a few other I've known start with yoga only to fall in love with it. My friend finally sold me on it because she goes 6 days a week. I decided if someone could love it that much then I HAD to at least give it a try.
I go to the Sunday class right now because it is for beginners. My stretch level is pretty much the opposite of Gumby right now. I have not worked out in a couple of years, and I was worried that I wouldn't be able to keep up. Amber is the teacher and she explained everything in an easy way to understand. She also told me if I were doing something incorrectly and that really helped. We did several techniques and the class lasted for an hour.
At the end of the workout, we did a meditation. She walked us through that and we had soft relaxing music playing in the background. Towards the end she had us close our eyes and just be present in the here and now. I can't tell you when the last time was that I physically just stopped myself. I had to make myself stop thinking, and that's not an easy task for me. We chanted some OM's together a few times and everything just synched so nicely.
After class my friend and I went to lunch and she said she can't remember the last time I had ever looked so relaxed. To tell the you the truth, I can't remember either! I absolutely loved it, and now I'm excited to go every Sunday when I can get over there. Sunday is a $5 donation class!
It's only $13 for drop in classes, And if you love it as much as I do, you can look into their packages! If you've been wanting to check it out, you definitely should.... take that from an adrenaline junkie!
