basketball program is a joke! More like football. Girls 7-9 year old is more like a wrestling ring because umpires will laugh at fighting instead of calling a foul. Absolute Disgrace of the game called basketball. I would give James the ref they wont fire a 0 if I could!
I am a member of the Stanley County Y in Albemarle, NC. I absolutely Love my YMCA,, I have been spending alot of time in Archdale the past several months, so therefore I've spent alot of time at your YMCA and I must say everyone that's works there has been so friendly and helpful. A couple of the girls that work the front desk even know me by name(since I've checked in so much). Anyway I just want to let you know how much I appreciate your hard work and for welcoming me into your Facility. Alot of times it's the only time I get out. Great Job Folks!!
This YMCA is a very nice quaint gym. They accept the Nationwide passes. They have a pool that is 5 feet deep at its deepest point. They have plenty of gym equipment and treadmills. There is no towel service which is not a big deal to most people like myself.
The receptionist was very nice and super polite with a friendly smile. The locker rooms had adequate space and I did not feel bunched up
The energy of the classes here is fantastic! It's a very clean facility. The staff and trainers are absolutely great. The Fitness center has everything you need for a great strength training session and more!
Rude lifeguards and the staff is not understanding of special needs or situations. Truly wished I lived closer to another facility.

Wondering why no notices were sent out about soccer?? My great nephew played last year, his parents have been waiting on some form of notice but never received anything. When his mom called to check on it, she was told there's a new director and he must have left some people out. They said it's too late to sign him up now, plus he's not a member. Really??!! So non-members are tossed to the curb and overlooked even though they pay more than members?? Maybe this is why they are not members.... Thanks for breaking a 5 year old little boys heart. He has been asking when soccer starts, anxious to play but because of an adults actions or lack of, he won't get to play. Word of mouth is the best form of advertisement and we will be telling everyone about this. Shame on the Grubb Y for being so rude...

Great gym. They have a child center for kids while you work out. Awesome family sports. Great after school functions for kids. Every so often they'll have kids functions for parent's night out and even overnight stays. Avery Simmons is the Child Care Director and I think he's doing a great service to not only the parents but to the kids as well.

I feel like I was ripped off. There's a fee when you join, and then an annual fee. I joined at the end of November. Mid-December I received a mailer that they were increasing the price. I'm sure they knew the price was going up when I joined and I should have been told then. I already thought the price was high, but went with it because they offer child watch. Once they went up I couldn't afford to continue my membership, and therefore paid that membership fee for a month.
The child watch is only available during peek hours, so the gym is crowded. I never had to wait for equipment, or saw anybody else waiting...a full gym just gets uncomfortable for me. Also, they don't take children to the potty or change diapers. My littles are 1 and 2, I never once made it through my workout without being interrupted because my kids needed something (Not much different from using the elliptical at home). My 2 y/o is potty trained, but is shy about asking to go and won't use a public toilet by herself.
I was really interested in Zumba, but at the time there wasn't a class during child watch.
So, if you don't mind the high price and either don't have kids, or have kids who use public bathrooms alone this is a great gym. It's just not right for us.
