Beautiful space with great equipment
Small, but not crowded. Locker rooms are super clean and showers are tiled floor to ceiling, individually sectioned off. You also can park in the deck for free 5:30am to 8am and then in 2 hour increments there after (even when they are charging for parking during events, you just need to tell the attendant that you're going to the Y and it's free)
Awesome classes, pool, track, machine and free weights, cardio and basketball courts. They've got everything!!
I've clearly had a different experience than nearly everyone who's visited this location. I was drawn to this particular YMCA because it's in a beautiful location and it's advertised "The Cage" location is perfect for basketball and outdoor recreation...or so I thought. After emailing the YMCA cage address for days with no response, I decided to visit the location. At which point I was directed to the Downtown Durham location for more information regarding "The Cage" reservations. Once at the downtown location, I was directed back to the American Tobacco location. The rep at the desk decided to call instead of me making the trek backwards, at which point I was told on the phone that the website details regarding American Tobacco tenants and "The Cage" were wrong, and The Cage was no longer available for reservations.
Have to say I was mildly upset about this. The American Tobacco YMCA location has the beautiful outside basketball and sports area that is no longer available for daily use. It's such a waste on an outstanding landscape. Paying nearly $50 a month for a membership makes it less digestible for me and I'll no longer be recommending the Durham YMCA's to anyone.

Hard to find parking. Prices for parking HIGH!
Perfect (and small) workout facility. They keep it very clean, the staff is courteous, and it's never crowded.

im picky on allot of levels and the manager at american tobacco, brittany is above and beyond professional, kind, efficient and goes out of her way to make sure this gym is top notch. nobody is standing around, texting impolitely; theyre in great shape and really friendly. everyone is polished, dressing rooms are spotless and the whole gym smells clean. not to mention brittany as a trainer is positive and creates wonderful results!

Nice facility, well-maintained, small, and perfect for my needs (location and amenities). Staff here are great.

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff!
Awesome gym. Clean and rarely crowded, with the gym essentials: Two squat racks, two bench racks, and 24/7 breaking news by CNN
Dope gym, can get crowded during lunch or after work. The staff is super cool and helpful.
Dream gym
Great gym! It's better if you go in the morning than after work, because it can get too crowded. The only downside is that they are closed on the weekends.
